That moment you look your son in the eyes and put your faith in him as a young man, then you get out the seat with your gut in faith and walk away with thoughts rushing though your head and then see them move off the spot then see them running it well. It just makes you wanna tear up being a proud father of your son becoming a young responsible man.

This video is incredible. Truly. I've watched the videos for years. This one is the absolute best. Nothing special, no gimmicks. A father teaching the next generation with immense patience and pride. This video, in my opinion, is something that should be viewed by everyone and be stowed away so that it is saved. This video, albeit short relative to a lifetime of teaching, shows how your food is made and how the traditions and knowledge is passed on. This is one of the most incredible videos I've ever watched. Thank you Johnson family for all that you do.

Jealous, yes. Having spent twice 4 weeks on a farm with 15&16 as a young man it could have been my dreamjob. But finding a farmer‘s daughter was not an option, marring a farmer‘s son was in the 1980ties not an option either.

This reminds me when my dad put me on a tractor at 7 yrs old on the farm back in Kansas in 1951. He was on a tractor on one side of the field and i on another tractor on the other side of the field. Some great experiences I can look back on. I’ll be 80 next year, great memories. Not gonna lie I cried during this video because it brought back so many memories of my grandfather teaching me to drive a tractor at 7 years old in the fields. I dumped my first load of hay at 9 off of a flatbed truck he had mounted blocks to the gas and break pedals so I could reach them. Thank you for bringing those memories flooding back to me today! So many life lessons for me at that age farming a small farm in Georgia … I just recently bought that land back from the bank during a foreclosure! This might be your greatest video ever! Thank you

I was a troubled teen into drugs, street racing, and burglary. My parents sent me to help one of my dad's friends on his 600 acre cattle, pork, and grain farm in Alabama. I spent a growing season there. It turned me around pronto. I learned what it was to be a good person, what a work ethic was, and how rewarding struggle and hard work can actually be.
Onyx is a respectable young man off to a great start.

My father died when I was 4 so I pretty much had to rely on my neighbors to teach me everything Zach is teaching Onyx. I have since passed those things along to my son when he was very young and who is 33 and has a family of his own. Something that did come to mind was the family across the road from us who basically treated me like one of their own. They were like parents to me. The wife was buried last week and the husband about a year ago. Watching this reminds me of the neighbor that taught me to me teaching my son.

I spent several summers as a teenager in the 1960’s working for an uncle who raised dry land winter wheat in eastern Montana. During harvest, I drove truck, hauling grain either to the elevator in town or to bins at the farm. Keeping up with the combine especially when yields were high was always a challenge but I loved every minute of it. While I went away to college and ultimately worked in the city, the lessons I learned during those summers have served me well,..never got to run the combine though. Great videos! They bring back good memories.

Love the video. Bring back memories of farming with my grandfather. I was 8 when I started driving a tractor. 12 when I first drove a combine...Now, when you get both of the kids taught how to run the equipment. You can just drive around and yell at everyone! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Or go down to the local restaurant and set Allday shooting the breeze...

Great stuff! I’m sure you’ve done this, but teach the “what to do when things go really wrong” too. “What do you do if you see smoke or flames?” That kind of thing. Super impressed with Onyx’s steady hand and calm demeanor under Dad’s tutelage. Too many kids (and some adults) would be saying “I know” all the time even though they don’t know. I always ask “what do you know” when someone says “I know”.

Good for this young man!! Nothing beats working and having a sense of responsibility and purpose. 👍 I worked when I was 13 as well. That's when I drove my 1st 18-speed. Still doing it decades later. I Love equipment and trucking. So peaceful.

Nothing better than teaching the kids the family business. Starting driving pick-ups at 8 years of age. By the time I was thirteen, I was driving anything with an engine on the farm. All that experience would help me later when I went on to drive ambulances and fire engines.

My Father drove an Eight Horse Hitch in the Field at that age. I drove Tractors at that age with rock pickers, seeders, cultivators and harrows . the Harness on the Horses my Father drove weighed out more than the young fellow in the video. My Dad had to take the harness apart to take it off. Awesome Job Young Man.

This young boy is SO lucky to have a dad who is PATIENTLY teaching him to do what is essentially a man's job--and, more importantly, to do it responsibly. Too many kids today get little to no such training in living and having a responsible life. Kudos to BOTH of you--son and father--for the trust you have in each other.
