I don't think he has too be obligated. Your responsibility is to yourself first. Hense why he choose the girl. because he loved her. What ever he does in life now will be great because Will is no longer afraid. Least that's how I see it.

Hey man (sorry, didn't catch your name) new subscriber here, really enjoyed your review. I just wanted to suggest, feel free to pause the movie if you got something to say so you/we dont miss anything. I want to hear your thought process. Good stuff though, keep it up. 😎💯🔥🙏 EDIT: After your outro I just had to add, I think you might be coming down a little hard on the professor. Yeah, in the end will need it Sean and his therapy to make the breakthrough he did, but the professor is a different kind of teacher that a lot of people need. He was the one who could recognize the rare genius that will had. As he said at one point there's only a few people in the world that could tell the difference between the genius level of Will and the professor, and it was because he's one of those few people that could see it he went after him like he did. There was no reward in the end for him to go through the difficult process of getting him out of the judicial system, him going through all those therapists to get him help.. he just wanted to push him and unlock his potential. So ease up man lol 🤘😎😆

One of the best monologues of all time from Robin Williams here, the Oscar was so well deserved. Ntm, the entire "my wife farted" was totally improv, and those are genuine laughs from Damon.

"When one jumped out, they all jumped out, LOYALTY!". Great commentary. Shows the importance of bonds in today's culture. So terribly lacking. Regardless of race or creed, family is what you make it. They want to drive us apart, because they know that we are FAR more powerful together. ESPECIALLY young men. God bless Bro. 😊

Great reaction to an all-time favorite of mine. I grew up in Boston at the time the film was set. You hit on a key question that I've never heard posed before - is Will obligated to take a job where he can utilize his gifts? I also liked your anti- violence plea and how you shared some of your life story. Keep up the thoughtful and energetic reactions.

First time I see a reaction of yours , and I´m glad I kept on watching (no offense meant, but it´s a -too - long one and I suppose you´re still learning/struggling a bit with editing 😉). But I´ve seen many reactions to this movie, and yours really is one of the very best. Great insight, right words on many occasions. Nice. Hope many others discover your channel. I’ve often thought of all the geniuses in the world who either never had a chance to create their ideas, develop their education, or have the courage or drive to put their ideas into reality.
Just imagine where society would be if EVERY genius contributed to their fullest.
Having said that, it’s Will’s life to do with it what he chooses.

The character of Will is an Irish American living in South Boston. Culturally, to the Irish, things like therapy are a waste of time. I say this coming from a very Irish American family.

Great question... Will has an obligation to himself to fulfill his potential and exercise his God given talents...in the manner that he feels is most appropriate. This is the same obligation that all of us have; to make the most of our lives. To do less is 'under achieving' and a waste of potential.
For example: suppose Albert Einstein deciced to remain a patent clerk and not explore is full potential? ...the World would be at a loss.

I still find it hard to believe that this wonderful man and actor who made so many people laugh with his sense of humor and know that he was so sad inside his heart. And no one could see it in his eyes. Absolutely devastated 7 years ago when I heard what happened. And I cry everytime I watch him on the screen.

Incredible film! Thanks for watching this. Without Kevin Smith becoming a producer on the film Good Will Hunting, no studio wanted either Matt Damon nor Ben Affleck in the lead roles. Even though they had both written the screenplay, the studios considered them to be unknowns. Kevin Smith, thankfully, convinced them otherwise. Please watch Clerks.(1994)

Well said brother! I had the math gift (in finance, not like Will) and I worked and got promoted fast at Charles Schwab in San Francisco. But the work was so easy to me and I felt like I was doing it because people thought I should do it due to my gift.
Then, in 2005, I took a job with a friend learning to drive semi-trucks. I fell in love immediately. I became an over-the-road night driver and I was truly happy! No one to bother you once you got loaded in, say, Seattle, and the load went to Boston. 3300 miles of just me, the truck and the road. There is no greater feeling I have ever had than in those moments. Plus, I was delivering food for people to live off of. I turned down jobs in finance that paid $300,000+ to drive a truck for $100,000 a year..money was not issue to me in trucking. All about the miles. I did 2.2 million miles with no accidents. I was lead driver for multiple companies because I was so good at being early for pickup and deliveries and working 330+ days a year, living in a semi truck. Covid took me out with heart damage and I miss it so much.
