- I personally enjoyed learning the fight. Having to break different parts of his body within a certain time provides a unique experience that no other monster really gives. Can't wait to see the rest of the new cast when this game finally releases.

As a newbie who mains Insect Glaive but who had to switch to DB to defeat Nergi... I am in awe. This was pure poetry in motion! Bookmarked, subscribed, thumbed-up. And a perfect Paratoad ending! ;)

When everybody are trying to destroy the monsters with a fucking OP HBG, you choose this weapon. You are my hero. I'm going to use IG as my main.

Amazing positioning!! You really steamrolled Nergigante with a barrage of tornado slashes! And excellent kinsect buff management! Ah how I wish I could use IG as great as you do...
This taught me some good stuff, I was finally able to solo him after watching. My biggest problem was that I kept trying to attack his hind legs, when it looks like it's better that stay in front of him. Item usage also helped, though I didn't use the bombs. Took me about 12.5 minutes, but I did it!
Metaknight180 rocksteady mantle carried a lot as well. They got hit many times through the fight and they did a lot more damage in the beginning with the mantle since they couldn't trip.
Thanks for the video. I have been hammer for the last 30 takedowns with no exprience with anything else to speak of. Strarted with lance. And dd 32 kills thn my daugter turned me onto hammer. My try gain after seeing this.

soloing nergi with no carting and in under 6 minutes is always such a great feeling.
Insect glaive is going to be my main so this gives me hope it's good enough to use full time. I'm wondering why he never vaults though. Obviously you don't have to but that's the appeal of this weapon for me but now I'm kinda worried that vaulting is more for show and not the best way to use it. I was hoping there was real value in dancing in the air.
Joe Diets Depends on the monsters you hunt
Vaulting is indeed the best way to use it BUT mostly when you want a monster to stop moving and unleash a lot of damage but he prefers to simply it it's head untill it's dead. Wich works with every weapon and against every monster. But only works with many experience actually vaulting is the best way to use it but only when you have all the 3 buffs Orange white and SPECIALY red

Joe Diets I main this weapon since it was released so you can confide one me. There are also armors with skills that provide more damage of aerial attacks and easier mounts
vaulting leads to mounting which is going to be a higher time solo so it's avoided when possible.
Russell Smith Exactly and soloing takes experience to make the best timing BUT you also take more risks if youre objective is to make sure you can hunt it it's safetier to mount and use the combos in the best moments this one for best timing is harder and you take more risks like I said before but you must hunt with your style not the way the others want you to

Can somebody explain why nobody lets his insect attack?
I am pretty new and I understand it drains stamina of the insect but letting it out and get a few clouds for status effects doesn't sound bad to me because you can always call it back when his stamina runs low
symen schilstra coz they still green, doesn't know how to use insect glaive properly. IG without buff = Meh

I don't get how he can so easily land shots on his head. Every time I try (especially if his quills are black) my shots just bounce off him. Plus I never get time to sharpen my weapon like that, I barely get a window to heal. And even when I do get a lot of good damage in, he isn't dying ANYWHERE NEAR as quick as he does in this video. Its like its on a different difficulty setting or something from this video to my experience.
he uses life powder in the video, it has an instant heal that recovers all health and doesn't need to be drank unlike the health potions. he blinded nergy with flash pods armed in his slinger to get a sharpen off too. sometimes some players will put on a ghillie suit mantle to sharpen their weapons in the middle of fights too.
BrDaCoZ that's actually a max potion he's using. They just now have the same kind of animation. Also lifepowder doesn't heal your HP completely when it's that low. Just thought I'd clarify that
Amongst the IG mains I see a lot of neglect for the marking function , the insect dust, and the blade dance, it's a shame.

Nergi horns in general are easy breaks lad.

What is your combo inputs when you are fully buffed?
From watching the first 2 minutes, he uses: /\ > O for when Nergigante was stunned. Forward+/\ > O > O when he has an opening, and the occasional O > O .
Basically most of the damage of IG in the beta at least is in the circle attacks.

How did you skip the tutorial dialogue in the beginning? I can’t seem to find an option for it
ActivexRecon you only get that dialogue the first time you play this quest.

You don’t get dialogue after your first completion of a quest. You have to beat it.
Oh That must be it. I beat it first try so I don't know about that.
why even play with the insect glaive if youre gonna ignore the things that make it special.
2 years later but hes using it properly, thats why he got a fast time, the ground glaive combos are where the most damage comes from

Can someone tell me if you Dodge when he roars does the roar not affect you then? It seems like he did that a couple times
You have i-frames during a part of the roll animation so you can dodge through most things if you time it right.
there are s in dodging that makes you invulnerable to everything. there's even an evasion skill stat on armor in the game that widens the s window on your dodges
It's funny. Hunting is sometimes harder with more people, but easier in solo. Guess the people who don't know what they're doing just boost the monsters for no reason, while they stand around and get hit over and over.
Bill In multiplayer the health of the monster increases so if your other 3 guys don't know wtf they are doing then you lose.

Wow don't even need vaults and mounts youre pretty awesome playing. But I would use more aerial attacks... Do you main heavy weapons? Because thats the fighting style of a great sword main XD always unleash everything on the monsters head
Rui André Ribeiro mounts and vaults are bad in this game. They take too long and don't have the highest damage output.
mounting has never been good for speedruns.
WHO CARES OF SPEEDRUNS WHY DON'T THEY JUST HUNT IT LOL
Also it's much easier to hunt it with mounts not everyone has the qualities to do speedruns like these it takes experience and also some luck. And after mounting you have enough time to do A LOT of damage and you can freely aim to the part of the monsters body
After all mounting is definitly better to normal hunts and not miraculous hunters like AkantorEx BUT NOT to speedruns
idonotmakevidsyet And you can try to mount if you don't ok but it can also flich the monster and there are armors with skills to boost the aerial attacks and make easier to mount them and take them down

Woe why is it special or something?
I know by holding r2 you can send your insect to attack but what do you press to get the buffs?
the same input you use to send the insect out, you press that but tap circle to call it back
the training room in the menu is there for a reason.
don't use r2 to send your insect out for buffs, you want to press triangle instead, it immediately shoots the insect out in a straight line and is much faster that way. the r2 send-out is for marking targets for the insect to continually harass, and it's where the purple hazes come from. use triangle to send out insect for buffs, r2 to send out insect for continual harrassment+purple haze
you press O while aiming the glaive with l2 to recall the insect and gain the buff it gained from hitting the target
