this is really cute. Frank, who is really used to being/cooking on camera, helps his son, who seems less experienced with being on camera, and trying really hard to not take over neither the cooking nor the commentary, but is still doing his best to include all these little things that helps make a ProtoCooks video great. It's also kinda funny seeing frank seem a bit out of his comfort zone.

For the people who doesn’t know what to do with scallions, fish sauce and soy sauce and don’t want throw them away after using them for ramen:
Add them to your omelette. I have a 2 eggs omelette almost everyday with scallions and a little bit of fish sauce or soy sauce.
Stop eating bland eggs. Soy sauce over fried egg is way more superior in taste than salt. The soy sauce mixed with the runny egg yolks, ufffff.

From the fresh stuff, ginger is a great thing to have. A large root lasts a while, doesn't perish fast, and doesn't get stolen because not all people use it, at least where I come from. And it goes so well with other staples here.

We had a weekly event, kitchen takeover (Küchenschlacht was the german name).
We would go to a student's room and look into the fridge and cupboards and cook something with it.
We would eat together and the one student wouldn't take part in cooking and do the cleaning afterwards.
We would chose a new student every time.
I was just so awesome getting to know the staples of different cultures and countries.
And very difficult, for example one just had one season/spice: dried basilikum. But we cooked something great.
10/10 would recommend to expand your culinary horizon!

Love it! Will def. have my son make this! Our usual: 2 C. water, soy sauce, jarred garlic, minced dried onions, flavor packet all in. Heat to a boil. Add noodles (broken up Prison Style), leftover or canned chicken, some canned or frozen corn. Boil 3 min. Off the heat and immediately stir in a whisked egg and stir for 1 min. Add some butter to melt and get creamy. Top with green onions and sriracha.

In my dorm, we had a communal kitchen. Nobody ever used it, till I cooked myself dinner at a saturday evening to relax from studying. Oh boy, did my neighbours come out of their holes quick. :D After that we had weekly cooking and that developed into a regular cooking schedule under the week, because we were five people every body had a weekday to cook on. We really had to fight, to not get swarmed by girls and guys, that wanted to get some of our food.
Apparently sometime after I left the dorm, they removed all the kitchen corners from the dorms, because some idiot wanted to impress a girl and tried a Crêpe Suzette flambé and set the kitchen corner alight.

As an Asian who used to cook noodles in her dorm, I suggest getting a rice cooker. Normally, we use it for rice but you can also boil eggs in it. Great for ramen!

You shouldn't assume only people on college are eating ramen..

There you have it girls! A much younger carbon copy of chef Frank. Dont worry you can still have chef Franks cooking as your father-in-law. So not bad. Haha! I love these kinda things, its like getting to know the proto family. The show gets more and more close to us. Its like they really are talking directly to the audience. Looking forward for more proto guestings.

    Nice video as usual.
As a poor college student, I can relate so much on having instant ramen every other day. So I also have to figure out ways to improve the flavor, from eating straight hot bowl to stir fry instant ramen. I also pre-made a bunch of toppings like ramen soft boiled eggs, cha siu, etc beforehand, and having a rice cooker reduces my time inside the kitchen significantly.
I'd love to see more recipes like this. Thanks, Frank.
