    Ok, small rant time- This video was one of the hardest that I've ever done! I knew there would be some difficulty getting info on this topic but it was just SO HARD to get anyone to talk to me about this stuff. Most teams and orgs are usually willing to work with me, but on this particular subject, no one wanted to say anything on record.
    Huge Shoutout to Newzoo and Jordan. They were so important to the making of this video.
    I really do try to be thorough and make sure that my research is done properly but in the world of esports it’s still very new and finding reliable sources can be very challenging.
    Thank you to all my fans who wait for my videos. I work hard on my research and I appreciate you all for watching!

      Hey Awsome work AND video I really love how you're managing to evolve your channel and I hope you keep growing.
      Just wanted to point out a thing about "lazy" NA
      In my mind it is not about time put into the game but rather effectiveness in practice and the will to compete on international level. How sometime you can feel the will in other regions to just be the best in all ways, whereas in Na the "best" just stay kinda there and stay on the same level for so long

      I seldom post on yt, but I feel compelled to complement you on this video. It was well written, paced and insightful. I learned so much and it lifted the veil on a topic that is often hard to learn about. @DongHuap, your videos are consistently excellent, but this one felt like you leveled up.

    I used to think getting paid to play league was a dream, back when I was 14-16 ish. Now I realize it's a nightmare. When I found other hobbies and passions I wanted to do, I felt horrible playing league for so long everyday. I couldn't sit there all day for so many hours. I felt ill. I don't know why I didn't feel that when I was younger, but now I'd know that I would not want to do that at all. I realized that I'd probably get tilted and do nothing productive with my day, I wasn't getting much enjoyment. I eventually quit playing league and just watch it.

      The thing competitive games is extremely intoxicating, you have to worry your performance, the meta, your hours and so on. Being a pro at any competitive game is not a hobby it a job, while people like that the problem is video game is still view as a hobby and escapism from real world. The esports scene is basically the antisemitism of what a video games are in the core and that why Nintendo is not 100% supporting their esports games

      @@zetamangads Also LOL at professionally high levels of play is a pretty boring game. You don't risk all in's without knowledge of where the enemy jungler & support is, or if your opponent has any way of outplaying you. So you just farm in lane, setup vision around objectives and slowly win or lose the game after 30+ minutes.

    • @zetamangads
      @zetamangads 3 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      @@andrewwoan I also forgot to mention. if you have a game who sole purpose is to be an esport machine, you are going to kill the casual audience I'm looking at you Valorant. Multiplayer games strives on the casuals while having a competitive scene is nice and all the majority of the revenue and player base are casuals.
      I have to bring Nintendo again but it the truth, Nintendo have some competitive scenes in their games, the developers and the publisher don't like their games to have an esport they want they allow small time tournaments but not an esport, their games to have fun solo or with friends and family it's basically their core philosophy.

    Not entirely related but i'm surprised by the fact that NA production feels cheaper (or just not as good) compared to EU.
    This includes a bunch of different stuff but even something as basic as "where is the observer looking during a game?" is different.
    I lost count of all the times the camera in NA focused on something completely irrelevant and ignored something important (jungler is preparing for a dive top? Let's look at support putting a ward).

    • @ACE112ACE112
      @ACE112ACE112 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Pausing 24/7 and the observer looking at a fight in top then panning to bottom for a split second to pan back to top for first blood is super annoying.

    • @asparrow9876
      @asparrow9876 3 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      The esports scene will truly peak when it becomes interactive, by incorporating a spectator aspect. No need for cameramen, just let me watch where I want at any time, but I can switch back to default whenever I want to see what most are seeing, all while never losing the focus of the battle by letting us hear the commentators, spectators & sounds.

You need only look at what currency is the most traded what currency countries use to pay eachother. IE: If China wanted to buy some provinces from India to solve their water problems they would purchase it in US dollars, All National Debt is payed in US Dollars, etc

    Really interesting subject... I wonder if, considering that most game studios and publishers already monopolize the organization and logistics of their games' esports scene, wouldn't it be viable for esports team to, for example, sell in-game merch? Think skins, animations, emojis, something. Some already do, but not to a large enough scale. That way the game developer/publisher can see an immediate return on investment in all the work and money they've put in the table to organize these events, and the teams may get new fans... Because their skins looks prettier, or something.

    Any player can definitely still be effective with less time spent on playing than they currently do. More free time can be spent on physical and mental health which should inevitably boost their performance or at least bring the same results.

    I used to be a semi-pro 5 years a go and I already had a "salary" ( well it was quite a bonus at that time) of 20k euro per year. For me because I love gaming to the core it felt amazing but what others say is also true, compared to a real job, here to stay relevant and at extremely high level you need at least 10-12 hrs per day. Why ? Because you don't need just to understand the game itself, but understand peoples behavior, repetetivness of their movement and what do they do. At the highest level of gameplay, meta is not as important as team comp/realisation of how enemy players play and their mentality. META is way under that. Even tho NA and EU as teams I believe are actually amazing I don't see many players go into the mentality and movement of another player that much. That's what makes them so bad at teamplay compared to Korea and China.
    But to the point, you can eat 150k from the team, Korean players GET A SHITLOAD OF MONEY from advertisements and sponsors, actually as much as NA does probably. So base "salary" isn't their total salary tbh

  • @leaguefixesyourmatches8259
    @leaguefixesyourmatches8259 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    It's not that the pro NA players are lazy per se. It's that the playerbase is "LAZY" and this is why NA won't succeed.
    Laziness is taught in NA from iron. It's not called "lazy" in NA. It's called playing "casually"
    What other region plays casually? It's not an asian thing because EUW doesn't do this. EUW actually succeeded and even beat the koreans.
    Pro's try to start try harding when they become pro's but by that time, the gap is too big to overcome.
    You have to wonder why all the LCS orgs want an all import team if what I was saying wasn't true.
    How can NA be the best in a lot of things but be so bad at league? You really have to wonder.
    If ping was the big issue. Why isn't there a plan in place to improve it? With NO PLANS of it ever becoming better.
    No one is even talking about it.
    If NA really wanted to "get good", they would.

    to put it very simple: europe's quality of life is usually better and you need less money for a good life in most European countries, because they have healthcare system so on so forth. This is why salaries are so much lower in europe and I guess also in Korea. Got nothing to do with currencies or power of the representing org. So the same job gets usually paid a lot better in the US than in other delevoped countries. It's always been like that. A doctor in Germany makes roughly 100k USD on average. In the US the averages are almost double
