This panel was truly a joy to watch. The revelations some previously know, and others seeing the light of day for the first time. it also highlights why these film festivals are so important in the how and why of so many great films and performance. Then there is AWOW which is there to ensure that moments such as these are recorded and preserved.
Another great one Mr.Rob! Thanks for doing these interviews with actors and actresses of a golden Era that is fading away. My opinion only the best movies ever made! Sad but I don't watch much in the way of movies anymore. I think lonesome dove, Wyatt Earp and open rang are the last westerns I've seen but not the same as it once was. I just wanted to say thanks for ur show and keeping the memories of the good ol westerns alive for folks like myself. 👍
The interviews are fascinating and how much history has not been adequately documented these interviews even if over a year old shed quite a bit of light on the history of old Hollywood the studios etc. Keep up the good work Rob and thanks again.
Rob, superb as always. Love the panel of the “young actors” as adults. One question can bring a whole round of different reactions. Some it’s like a new revelation of their younger self. It’s really children taking on adult work and must have been stressful, yet to hear the “kid stories” - cherry bombs floating to blow up… sure would have loved to watch that. My brothers would put firecrackers stuck in a good sized branch from the trees on our farm, put them in the creek, light the crackers… just blowing up “ships”. Patrick sharing that brought back that childhood memory of mine. 😁👍🤠
This is a great tribute to the actors and the movies they were in. The stories they tell add a special effect on the films they talked about. Rob you are providing fans of westerns new and old with a wonderful view of the behind the scenes stuff we rarely see or hear about.
Oh my goodness, I just got through watching this and it has made my day! I’ve seen these guys before and loved listening to them but to see all of them and you together was wonderful. I hope you and the actors know what joy they have brought into our lives through their movies and being your guests. I will watch this over and over. Thank you Rob.
A real fine group of talent and the joy they have given us through their talents the natural acting abilities and the elder generations working together to give us the many films to look back on and enjoy.
Rob you always have great guests! So I was surprised to see you out do yourself. It can't get any better than this, can it? I can't wait for the next one!👍👍😊😊
Bravo... When I was a small child there was a theme park in Ocala Florida call Six Gun Territory. My parents got the opportunity to take my sisters and myself to this park. The day we were there Darby Hinton was the guest deputy and was in the main street gun fight. Daniel Boone was one of my favorite TV shows at the time and I was in awe of getting to see a star that close. Great memory for me.
Wow it was a super fantastic honor last November, to meet & speak with Claude Jarman, Pat Wayne, Andy Prine, Darby Hinton, Rob Word, and all my Dream Leading Ladies of Film and Stage, at the Williamsburg Nostalgia Festival! Wish the 2 Bobby's, Duvall and Carradine had been there too. 🤩🥰👍👍 & ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ all around! 17:15 That's the same question I asked Patrick at the Nostalgia Fest last year. :D That said, Darby is a hoot to work with. Plus... during a visit to our grandparents in Squaw Valley, my brother and I ran into Walt Disney, who asked us if we wanted to be in one of his TV Shows. Of course we shouted _YES!_ Then ran to tell our parents. Dad wasn't having any of it, because he was stationed in Oregon at the time, and being reassigned tot he Pentagon. To think that Darby & I could have met much sooner than on set of _The Marshall_ re-titled from _Bill Tilghman and the Outlaws._
I haven't made too many comments lately, so this is going to be 3 comments. .... The 1st is a movie a few weeks ago with Dennis Hopper as the sociopath with Dukes son who was the lead. I have to say that 'Dennis Hopper' was amazing and lifted a fair to good film to a very good film rating from me. Dennis walked into any scene of the film and commanded that film become better through his amazing acting. I'm a fan of Dennis Hopper, but watching him on an entertaining, but kind of okay film and 'fire it up' 10 or 20 degrees gave me new respect and meaning to the word acting and Dennis Hopper knowing his art like a painter of some known abilities. .... The Hollywood Kids Vol. 1 & 2 are lots of fun and have some additional historical significance if you are a fan and should be watch. Virtually every film before 1958 I saw on T.V. and I believe I saw every one of these young people back when they were Very Young & doing a great job. As such, it's nice to hear from them about how they felt or what they remembered from that persecutive. 'Do Not Forget,' that often kids my age would go home after the films we liked and then act out the films with others young friends imagining our being the KID in many of the films we saw then. Thank You - Rob! Without a doubt Rob, your online show is the most unique and most entertaining! - m.
Thank you rob word for this interview. All these people are very missed especially the ones who have passed away. This was so entertaining and enlightening. I can honestly say I don't have a favorite and any one of these on this panel even though I did at one time yet all I can say is they're all were great actors in their time. And everyone in the movies that they're mentioned I've watched and enjoyed extensively. But I can't help that I'm a western fan and always have been especially John Wayne. Yet there were many others like Hopalong Cassidy, and more.
Thanks again, Rob! Great to see these old folks we were kids watching them and enjoying this immensely. This sure brought back my memories of Old Tucson, 1965-76 great movies made there. Dad worked for the production company for The High Chaparral he drove the actors from the Hilton out to the set, daily! Made 2 movies Pocket Money and a 2 part Bonanza episode to Mexico. Loved that part of our lives. Wish I could meet you and discuss some of our experience…
Thanks, Mary. We just wrapped up with a campfire music gathering in the park tonight. I’m headed out into the Alabama Hills tomorrow to do some Plein Air painting before driving back to LA.
Truly this such a great treasure to watch & listen to these wonderful people & yes wanting to watch see these great western, etc. Such a treasure!!! Thanks again

You do good Word, don't stop. At 84 I enjoy these movies as much as when I was a kid. While I live out of the county now I never miss visiting Lone Pine when I am back. Since I discovered it so many years ago it has been like my spiritual place. I have attended about 6 film festivals and was friendly with Dave Holland.
It's refreshing to see these actors as older people-people with interesting stories. Their stories always makes me checkout their movies and TV shows. Bruce Dern shot John Wayne! Wait, what? I'm seeing that tonight!
Cool, Joseph. That's one of the nice things about our shows is that they trigger memories of films or turn new fans on to films that should be viewed. Thanks.
This was a great post. Thanks so much. I especially enjoyed Mr. Jarman's comments concerning Roughshod. A terrific movie which was playing last month on Movies! free TV channel. I watched it several times when it repeated. Wonderful background stories from all the panel. Stellar production also.

" Coming Home " is my generational statement of opening our eyes to the horror that our Military Service can have on our people. Bruce Dern is a treasure!

People always get those to mixed up. Another thing that bugs me is when they name either of those movies and then say Rio Lobo was the same movie. Rio Lobo was similar, but definitely not identical like El Dorado and Rio Bravo were. Oh well, I love all three.
John Wayne was a more versatile actor than many believe. Usually he was typecast in roles, but he acted in other roles, including the occasional villain.
Just finished reading the Claude Jarman Jr. biography and the story he told of how he got the part of Jody in the Yearling was nearly verbatim from the book. He's had a very interesting life to say the least.

Great to hear some of the inside baseball on these wonderful old films i.e. the mudslide anecdote from McLintock, the Jon Voight wheelchair story, Claude's very funny Myrna Dell letter as examples, all you haven't heard before or would hear anywhere else.
