Rob, I hope you will continue to "ask questions" of all the stars for a long, long time. These episodes are so interesting & fun & uplifting. Michael Forest was wonderful!
My favorite western series is, Gunsmoke. James Arness was the best. I'm almost 75 and still watch the program whenever it's on. I have great memories of watching the show with my dad back in the early 60's.
I had the pleasure of working with Clint Walker, in the TV series, Sweating Bullets. I was the Set Nurse. He was a very nice man, gentleman, and great actor. RIP
Very nice segment, Rob... I always liked Michael and remember seeing him often. He always seemed to be credible in his roles.... Thanks for the memories. Russ
@TERoss-jk9ny you really ought to look up Star Trek Continues which is a free web series "completing" the TOS five year mission. He reprises his role as Apollo.
Yeah. In my small pond, I used to think I knew a lot. Then while watching the live showing of movies with Rob and the others, I realized I'm so, so very ignorant. More than once I thought, "how do you know that?" (looking at you, too Arline!) I love it.
Very entertaining interview. He is a true professional, from theater to TV and to movies . Not to mention you finished well with his classic Star Trek role , Rob sir.
Michael's role of Apollo was very sympathetic. Even as a kid I felt very sad for him as he was defeated. His performance made this episode very special..thank you for this interview.
What a lovely person ... AND, though he denied it ... a great actor. His performance as Apollo remains one of the most tragic, powerful, and riveting roles in television and film. How did they get an ancient god to show up on the Star Trek set? I don't know, but it seems that's just what happened.
This was another great interview and Mr. Forest was delightful. Rob Word, you are the nicest, most sincere person and I love how you interview your guests!!!
A little Clint Walker trivia. Clint had a 8 second scene in the Ten Commandments. Rob, I love your Bolo tie. THANKS MR WORD FOR THIS INTERVIEW. I also love hearing these stories.
There's a great story about how Clint Walker got that role. Clint was driving in for an interview when he saw a woman with a flat tire on the side of the road. He stopped and changed her tire and helped her on his way. This made him late for his interview and he thought that he had lost the job. Cecile B. DeMille chided him for being late but told him he understood as the woman he helped was Demille's secretary who told him about the incident and DeMille hired Walker on the spot. 😂😅😊
I loved what he said at the end about how he had worked with so many wonderful actors through the years and appreciated you bringing them to mind. I also love that you have a way of getting these guys to tell stories they thought they had forgotten. Such history that we wouldn't have heard other wise. Michael Forrest, what a wonderful and kind gentleman he is. Thank you so much!!! 👍👍
MICHAEL FOREST one of a long line of character actors that Rob finds for us, and he'd be the first to tell you he rarely ever got a memorable role, describing himself as a workmanlike actor who's career spanned sixty years. Here you see Mr. Forest at the incredible age of 93, and still looking and talking good. It's a shame that so many actors are taken for granted in HOLLYWOOD, they become labelled for certain roles and never get the chance to shine beyond their one-liner parts. I recall him either playing an Indian or a second-heavy in so many TV Westerns. It's funny that Star Trek was his most iconic role, with the fame and attention coming decades later... certainly Mr. Forest has the right attitude and strength of character and modesty you rarely see in most actors... Rob you made him very happy that day, and us every week!
Michael Forest reprises his role as Apollo on a free web series called "Star Trek Continues". The series finishes the five year mission and faithfully recreates the look, feel and impact of the original series. Star Trek and Westerns were my best friends growing up.
Rob, I know you should have an awesome autograph book, and it should be filled by now, if you do, you should start publishing it, I want a copy, LOL. 👍👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Wow! Talked about two of my favorite western stars: Clint Walker & Randolph Scott. Mr. Forest was a treat and this guy got handsomer with time! He played Apollo again in "Star Trek Continues" in like 2017-2018.
Michael Forest was in so many movies & did a great job in all of them. He was & still is a great-looking guy! Clint Walker is one of my all-time favorites, so I enjoyed Michael's story about him. So entertaining! Thank you, Rob.
So nice to meet Michael Forest in this way. Celebrate his contribution to film. Thank you Rob, ... Mike and RJ too, "on location," a lovely warm interview.
Another great interview with a guy who was in so many westerns, mostly on TV. He seemingly had at least one appearance in every western series made. Too bad he didn't get the big role he was looking for, but he more than made up for it with the volume of good performances he put in. And still looks to be in great shape after all these years.
Michael Forest. A wonderful actor. He is amazing and thank you Rob and staff for bringing us this great interview with this man. He's one of the few great ones still with us.
Michael’s portrayal of Apollo was so iconic for fans of the original Star Trek series that it is a classic episode. And as a long time fan I still enjoy watching it.
Michael Forrest is best remembered as Apollo from Star Trek. He did do many roles in so many TV westerns, but not on screen for very long. However, I recognized him about 8 years ago when watching the first season’s dvd of Bonanza. He was Young Wolf in the Paiute War opposite Pernell Roberts. He also was in 2 other episodes in seasons 6 and 9. Was I amazed at seeing him threatening Adam Cartwright and thinking “Why that’s Apollo from StarTrek!” He looks great and healthy. You should have been asking him about his diet etc. He’s 94! How blessed he has been!
Great show. What a pleasure to see and hear Michael Forest! He looks terrific. Never seemed to have his own hit show, but was memorable in every appearance he ever madee. Thanks again, Rob.
Thanks Rob for highlighting Michael Forrest s career an actor who made the most of every opportunity. Loved listening to him talk about Boone on have gun will travel probably my favourite western series.
Good to see Mr Forest doing so well...I remember him in so many TV westerns and of course as Apollo on the original Star Trek... You mentioned A Touch of Evil such a excellent movie I especially like Charlton Heston as the Mexican detective the best thing is he plays the role without accent
I'm not certain that I understand what Michael meant when he said that had he played the master scene of Apollo in Star Trek "sympathetic" it would have been wrong. It just goes to show that we may enjoy a performance by an actor, but have no idea of all of the nuances beneath that performance, and why it captures our attention and generates an emotional response. Fascinating interview, Rob.
It was a wonderful interview, Rob. Michael Forest did such a great job playing Apollo that he reprised the role in 2013 on the TH-cam series Star Trek Continues in their very first episode "Pilgrim of Eternity". It begins with an homage to Paladin. I'm sure that was not a simple coincidence.
As usual this was a wonderful interview with an actor who was known for his work on TV. I remember him from the western shows he was in. Cheyenne was a favorite of mine. I always felt that Clint Walker was underrated and under appreciated actor. I suppose Michael Forest could fall in that category as well. Great work Rob. All you do to keep westerns and the legacy of the western movies and TV shows alive is greatly appreciated.
Michael Forest was on so many shows and movies I can remember him in Cheyenne and Gunsmoke the one I remember best was his appearance on Star Trek as Apollo he made the villain of the week memorable and sympathetic not easy to do. Thanks Rob
We have to laugh at all the actors we watched over the decades like Michel Foreat never knowing their real names and thanks to Rob we know the fun back stories; you make us dig into IMDB finding out things we never even thought about. Another great interview, Thanks pard.🍀

I keep an eye out for new videos from WOW. It is always interesting to see the faces of actors that contributed so much to different shows, then learn the names of them. Without the supporting actors, so many of these movies and TV shows would have been only so-so. Thanks Rob.
Fine interview with an engaging man and actor. He's so right about the quality of those Star Trek Original Series scripts. In his episode, some of the issues involved : mankind in relation to the supernatural, historical memory, technological advancement, destiny, mankind alone in the universe. All of this credibly addressed in a 50 minute dramatization! The beauty of good writing and acting is that it engages you, even when you may differ with the worldview. Mr. Forest did a splendid job.
Always nice to hear your childhood heroes were nice guys in real life. You read nothing but good about Clint Walker, Roy Rogers, Fess Parker, and Buddy Ebsen, for example. And I just learned today while watching a documentary on a tragic school fire in 1958 that killed ninety grade school kids that Jack Kelly at the top of his Bart Maverick fame, out of pure compassion without fanfare made a special trip to Chicago hospitals to visit the injured kids who survived the blaze. Rob nailed when he mentioned what a versatile actor Michael is. Topping off the show, is Clint Walker, whose birthday I share. All these fantastic Role Models for kids, need to be revived today. 👍👍3🏆 10⭐
I am so glad that I have watched this interview because the main TV show that I remembered Michael being in, was the Star Trek. And that performance made him appear that he was an egotistical snob. This interview introduced me to the real actor, the real man. And that man is full of humility and seems to be very down to earth. It completely changed my mind about Michael as a person.
I never knew Michaels name, I’m sad to say, but I fully recognize him from the Star Trek episode. Thank you for this. I just saw I was born the day after Clint Walkers birthday…kind of makes up for being born on Clint Eastwoods birthday.
What an interesting gentleman! I’m glad you showed pictures of him back then because I didn’t recognize him or his name, but i remember him now! I’ll have to look up more TH-cam videos!
Very informative. Truly enjoyed this. Dennis Weaver seems to me to be so underrated. Great in Westerns, McCloud, and in the great Spielberg movie Duel.
He was so handsome in all those westerns and he still is! He was a wonderful actor, could handle many different roles. One of my favorite was on Gunsmoke and he was the bad guy.
I first saw Michael around 1960 in a scary (to me at age 8) Roger Corman film "Beast from Haunted Cave". He always had great screen presence. Another memorable role was on an episode of The Outer Limits. Thanks so much for another splendid interview Rob!
Rob, thank you. Sincerely, thank you. There is always this sneaking envy that I have to contend with when watching your interviews. You really are Lucky Rob. But I can think of no one that deserves it more. And I mean that. You know, Michael kind of lamented that he was not in any big movies etc. But for my money, he did something far, far better. He was a true working actor. over 60 years in the acting business, helping make all those shows better. And he 'made his bones' doing Lux Video Theatre. omg, I cannot even wrap my mind around doing what amounts to a live play to the entire nation. And his voice acting is incredibly impressive. I am usually a sub over dub guy, but he helped dub some of my favorite anime. And no one should be that handsome in his 90s. And as always, I get triggered when Clint Walker is mentioned. I think in the entirety of the history of film, Clint would have made the best Batman. I thought that as a kid reading comics in the 60s and 70s and I think it still. Thank you Rob. Thank you Rob for doing this video. I didn’t recognize Michael’s name as I was scrolling, but as I started watching I recognized him. He was so much a part of my viewing pleasure when I was younger. When I realized he had played Apollo, that was one of my favorite Star Trek episodes. Thanks again.

Rob: It's always a joy. Michael Forest was a great memory for an old 73 year kid. Thank you.
Rob, I hope you will continue to "ask questions" of all the stars for a long, long time. These episodes are so interesting & fun & uplifting. Michael Forest was wonderful!
Most excellent interview and gives this great supporting actor the recognition he deserves. Thank you!
This is such a treat! Mr. Forest is as handsome as always and it's great hearing all he has to say.

Another great interview, Rob! 👍👍😄😀 I remember Michael from so many shows, especially as Apollo in "Star Trek." It was one of the best episodes. It is a shame that he cannot remember so many of his appearances and roles, but the great Rob Word was there to jog his memory.
I do my best. Thanks, Bill
@@AWordonWesterns You are the best, Rob! I thought that I was good at trivia on old movies, but you put me to shame. 👍🤔😄😀😮
