    I used to collect swords when I lived in Germany. My son loves that and has collected knives since he was 7 in cubscouts. He's now going on 14 and has quite the collection. I am going to recommend this as a scout project to the troop. Great work.

    Great project. Thank you for taking the time to share this with all of us. I've watched long enough to recognize the cool technique you used for the spring loaded magnet. I always thought previously that your video on making the adjustable measuring sticks was the best ever. I was wrong. This combines the previous idea with another idea (the mag). Wow. You are the best!!!

    What a great design! I've been asked to make a knife display for a friend, and I'm planning to have it plunged through a bent wood circle. But this is so cool, I'm tempted to change and do it instead!

    Jack: Super.
    At one point I thought it was the magic of Christmas, which had been able to levitate the knife.

    Hi Jack I love your inventions, that is why I have chosen to ask you a favour. I'm considering making a puppet for my dad, however the research I've done, shows that the knee joint allows the lower leg to swing in both directions forward > and back and only swing forward > putting the knee in the forward > bent position and not the back < position. I hope you can help? I will keep looking to see of you post it

      +Deadwolf Thanks for the heads up. I just did a bit of research and found a great video from SciShow explaining that magnetic force is part of electromagnetic force (a fundamental force). Also included in electromagnetic force is electrostatic force. Pretty interesting stuff, I didn't realise there were multiple aspects of electromagnetism.

    Cool project, Jack. There is only a magnet in the top, right? or is there one in the bottom also? I am trying to figure out why it lets you put the knife down on the base...

    • @Unrealize
      @Unrealize 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +wordsnwood I believe it's only on the top. When you put the knife on the bottom, the magnet doesn't really lift it, it just keeps it from falling over..

    This dude added in screw driver noises at 1:58

    • @dooplon5083
      @dooplon5083 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Or maybe it was designed in a way that makes noise? If you pay attention you'll notice he never lifts the screwdriver, use tat hint to figure it out.

    • @trevorlambert4226
      @trevorlambert4226 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Atomic Robo Tesla No, watch again and you see he is using his other hand to turn the screwdriver when it doesn't lift up. You can also clearly see that it's a simple, solid screwdriver, not one of the kinds you suggest. Lastly, the sound you hear doesn't actually sound like one of those ratcheting screwdrivers, and it isn't in sync with the video. Conclusion, he did add the sound, probably for comic effect.

    • @dooplon5083
      @dooplon5083 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Trevor Lambert Not quite sure how it'd be funny but ok.

    • @jyosiefus6773
      @jyosiefus6773 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's pretty obvious that it was added in. That's just a normal screwdriver, and the sound is looping.

    • @MrMatt713
      @MrMatt713 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      the noise sounds more like dragging a screwdriver over a file or rasp. yeah, definitely not a ratcheting screw driver tho.
