As a missouri fan, they damn near beat us in 2023 at our home field. We were ranked #9 in the country that night. This is the same Missouri team that almost beat Georgia at their home stadium. They came closer to beating us than Ohio state, Tennessee, Kentucky ,South Carolina and Arkansas did and made us work harder than the vast majority of teams we played this year. Florida is not a team I would underestimate.

So far I've been disappointed specifically by the in game coaching decisions. If not for the dumb decisions against FSU, 4th and 20 against Mizzou, missed kick against Arkansas things could have been different last year.

I think we hired Napier at exactly at the wrong time, right at the dawn of transfer portal madness and NIL. I don't think those are his strengths as a coach, he thrives at building relationships, which was a very important skill in recruiting just 5 years ago, but NIL has made that aspect of coaching so much less important. Also, his schemes seem to rely on having superior trench players, which Dan Mullen left severely depleted when he left

      🤔 why ?
I think he just needs to have the right staff around him especially his coordinators. The players love him and he recruits at a high level.

I think Billy needs two things 1) Bring a disciplined team which puts forth effort every game. For some time now dating back to the Mullen era Florida has been a less than sharp, heavily penalized team which constantly shoots themselves in the foot (look at the the situation last year with two players wearing the same #) 2) DJ Lagway has to show something. If he plays well Billy can point to the future with some degree of hope-maybe sell DJ as the second coming of Tim Tebow lol. I'm not going to pick a # of wins but if the two points I made above come to pass Napier keeps his job.

From the sounds of their recent spring practices, they’re getting a lot more experienced and aggressive. They cannot be soft like they were on defense last year. Need to see them having the urge to wanna break ribs, legs, etc. Lol, but no dumb cheep shots that’s going to be a costly penalty like against FSU with that clearly late hit. I get it, you want to hurt him and kick him out of the game, but it will 100% be costly if it’s towards the end of the game.

I agree with Josh's analogy. Billy just couldn't get any traction coming out of the gate. My way of saying it is that there is no coach/team synergy. At another college, things might have fallen into place to produce a lot more wins.
So maybe Napier is a better coach than we've seen. I hope he gets another chance...Somewhere Else. All we can know for sure is that right now, he is the wrong coach, in the wrong school, at the wrong time.

Honestly Billy walked into a rotten situation at a school with championship aspirations. He’s completely flipped the roster and upgraded talent at every position group since he arrived. He botched S&C and adjusted. He evaluates and makes changes; something Mullen refused to do. Recruits quality talent that actually make it to campus and contribute.
No coach would have came in up and running with the roster he took over. If Mullen didn’t leave, 2022 roster has Emory Jones starting at QB with a bunch of players who transferred to smaller schools and didn’t produce.

He’s gotta learn how to coach and we all know that he can’t do that. There’s a big difference when coach and flag football girls. I guess it shows the gators do play like a bunch of girls. They do know how to spit on people. He’s a good coach for spitting.😂😂😂😂😂 he ain’t never gonna be nowhere near on the same level is the Mike Norvell the mad scientist, the best coach in Florida and the country

Billy Napier is proving that you can imitate the Saban model for building a program as much as you want but without a competent guy like Nick Saban to run the program, it’s all useless

napier is not the answer for florida.
    period.
but as a tennessee fan, i do enjoy seeing florida struggle.
he shouldnt be fired in 2024 because that schedule should get ANYONE fired (no one outside of nick saban could overcome that brutal gauntlet).
dabo or kiffin are the only credible coaches who could “fix” florida.
