@@jamesgray6421 I disagree. He's a large part why the Gators are in this situation due to lack of recruiting although Napier has a lot blame also. Hes also the genius that thought Feleipe Franks was better than Kyle Trask till Franks got injured and Trask had to take over. It seemed to me Mullen checked out towards the end.

      1. Georgia becoming a powerhouse
      2. Bad recruiting (relative)
      3. Piss poor coaching
My hot take: if Colorado has a decent year (6+ wins), I could see Deion taking the Florida job (more as a recruiting hire and to spite FSU).

Max Brown wasn’t gonna play before Lagway and he knew that, Douglas was hurt all year and knew young guys would catch up and take over. Trevor claimed to be RB2 because he was and couldn’t pass block.
The scheme is fine…the play calling was off at times but they scored points, opened up the passing mid way through the season. The DEFENSE has literally been atrocious since Dan Mullen squandered a championship offense in 2020

He made a mistake in his hiring, but he wasn't even allowed to fix it. In a regular year, that 8-2 before the SEC championship, would have been 10-2. All his pass catchers opting out for the bowl game destoryed any chance of yall competing with Oklahoma.
Had yall helped him choose a top defensive coach and let him hire some recruiters, he could have made Florida elite in the NIL era. Kyle Trask became the 2nd greatest passer in UF history

As a Clemson fan who remembers when Napier was our OC, there are SOOOO many things in that offense that has to go right for it to work. Its something that small schools can do great with, but when youre playing a P5 defense, i just dont know how it can work unless you have some very special players. I've always liked the Gators so it'll nice to see them back on track but they've swung and missed on every HC since Urban and unless FLA wins 8 games this season on a schedule which on paper might be the most difficult in history, i think Billy will be out.

The response to the failures seems weak. There is Low Energy, sleepy press conferences. Starting players label you a 'loser' from within. I can remember back in the 90’s when they’d show offense and defense starting rosters after kick off, Tennessee (my team) had mishmash of players on both sides of the ball from all over the country. For the Gators.. they were all from Florida. almost every single player. Just an endless pool of talent produced in that state. Spurrier’s offenses were scary and if he got up on you, he’d run away with it and run the score up.. didn’t care. Regardless of how it got to this point, Florida’s just experiencing some down time now. Big changes will eventually be made and they’ll be back.. and it won’t take them long. UF has always been a worthy program for a big coach. They get the hire they need and you could see the Gators back to business in a season or two.

Yeah, we won the East a couple times but so what? It's Florida. We should be playing for championships. The other sports have not been great, either. Florida hasn’t been completely trash since Tebow left but right now the problem has been Scott Stricklin. He was buddy buddies with Dan Mullen who he worked with at Mississippi St. He knew Mullen wasn’t a great recruiter or a fan of it but hired him anyways. Shockingly Mullen couldn’t recruit and it was a huge reason he was fired. Then Stricklin hired a HC with no power 5 HC experience. Also Stricklin keeps scheduling these insane hard non conference games. The SEC is hard enough but scheduling top 10 Utah back to back years. Now Miami, FSU, and UCF in the same season is trash. It’s like Stricklin is trying to get Napier fired. Even next year schedule will probably be even harder with traveling to Miami and USF, then playing FSU…

Historically though they are Crap, from 1911-1990 they NEVER won 10 games in a season, to put that into perspective....

Whether it was t-shirts, hats, or Coke bottles (I still have a few unopened), if it had that on there, we had to have it. It was pure joy in Hogtown.
Then came the word from the SEC. There would be no Sugar Bowl. There would be no SEC Championship. It was being taken away for NCAA violations.
To make it worse, the national championship was won by BYU. They got it by winning the Holiday Bowl by beating a 6-5 Michigan team. Had we been allowed to go to the Sugar Bowl, who knows? Several polls voted us national champs anyway, but not the ones that really counted, like the AP and UPI

Florida is not pumping as much money into the football program as other schools are. Top level leadership is problematic. The big brass at UF are more focused on academics rather than athletics. This allows incompetent mid-level leadership to take root - like Scott Stricklin. This moron thought it would be a great idea to fire Mullen and hire SunBelt Billy. Florida’s issues are not unlike Tennessee’s past struggles. It just takes buy-in from the university’s big brass, a competent AD, and a proven head coach. It really isn’t that complicated.

It's the UAA. They are terrible and don't care about football as much anymore because they want to change the image from a football school to an "everything school" the result is, our women's soccer team is great along with the other unwatched sports at the cost of football directly. As a fan who has watched since before I could talk, this is heartbreaking to see. Nothing will change unless all of them are ousted, along with Stricklin and Napier. It'll take an entire restart of the university itself for things to change and it'll probably be at least a decade until UF is prominent in football with the way things are going. I think you are all FOS and let the man work on building something. NIL and the Portal have destroyed college football it's all about the money now there is no allegiance to any school only the dollar. The powers that be that reap all the benefits from these kids and are laughing all the way to the bank. If Napier doesn't show any improvement at all then he should be fired at the end of the season. He needs to make a good bowl game with 7 or 8 wins although it might be tough with the schedule they have this year but who knows. I'll still be cheering the good and bitching about the bad but if we don't give coaches time to work and deal with the portal and NIL then they should do away with football at Florida.
