I'll sure try. Life's been very, very busy, and it's surprising how something like a good snow storm can just take away all the time I might have been wanting to use to make a new video. But it always feels good to send out another video. Thanks for watching.
Multiband 6 is my favourite feature of the Gshock watch! I live in N.-B. Canada and most of the time my 8 multiband 6 watches get sync!! Tough solar has to be the second favourite feature! Great review Greg always very interesting to watch!! ✌🏼😎👍🏼
I'm glad you're getting Multiband 6 reception up north! It's my favorite feature too. So, as long as Casio keeps making watches with Multiband 6 I guess I'll keep looking for them.
Cool collection Greg! I've kinda slowed down a bit myself, but I always thought about the orange banded model and maybe one of those "U" models with the better light module. 😉
Awesome Collection Thank you for sharing with us. I was never a watch guy, but riding a bike and pulling a phone out to check time isn't always easy. So I thought I needed a nice Robust sports watch, so I bought a Gshock, then another Gshock and that was it, I had landed in a new Hobby. Now I try and buy smaller watches for my 6.5 inch Wrist, but I will always have huge respect for Gshock and Casio, my Gateway into Horology, Peace Out
My wife and daughter think I am crazy because every night I hang my GW-5000U-1JF on the curtain rod. I tried to explain to them about Multi Band 6 and how the metal rod helps the watch receive the signal but they just don’t get it. Thanks for another great video. Suddenly I want a blue G-Shock😅
I wear my 5610 the most. Much more than my B5000. The steel square look cool. But the 5610 does wear so much more comfortable. And has that retro look that I remember from my teenage years. As for the Bluetooth. I actually never cared for it. I didn't even bother to get the app on my phone.
I did not really get into the squares until a few years ago. My first favorite G-Shock was the GW-300 that i bought from target in 2003. Here was a watch that was atomic and solar and had big numbers. Other then wear it and let it occasionally sync up, you did not need to touch it other then wear it. I then got into the G2300/G2310 series. I then remember in 2005 dropping $300 on a brand new GW-200 Frogman from Higuchi- inc in Japan. It arrived to me in 3 days and was great looking. To me that is still the best looking Frogman. I stupidly sold it and then had several other GW-200 over the years but kept selling them as I could not get into them like my original GW-200. Last Oct, I got hold of a NOS base GW-200 Frog (like my original one) from Mercari Japan using Buyee. it arrived with a roached storage battery that would not hold a charge (the seller said it was stored from new back in 2001 and that it probably needed a new storage battery. Well after $13 for a new ML2016 solar storage battery, 3 days of waiting till it arrived and 20 mins replacing it and doing a reset, the watch was running great again and will be in my collection to stay.
Very cool. I bought my first G-Shock in 2006. It's the MTG-900 and it looks like it's been through some battles, but I wear it to work every day because sometimes I bump into things and I don't want to hurt another watch. Meanwhile, I have two very pristine MTG-M900 watches available to replace that old one just in case something happens.
I got the Casio G-Shock GWM5610-1 solar with LED (non-BT) last year. Paid about $112 and it’s worth every penny. It has all the features I really want.
@@petergplus6667 the LED is more longer lasting and bright compared to EL which degrades over time. Hardly that is a negative. He is talking about the B5600 series which operate in the same way but have BT.
There's quite a variety out there these days when you consider options like Bluetooth vs. Non-Bluetooth and all of the different colors, especially if you can still find a few of the older models using module 3159. And there's quite a price range for G-Shock Squares if you consider $100 all the way up to $4,000. I think I'll skip the $4,000 model, however.
You have the best collection of the squares. I like that its what you like, and not a copy of anything I've seen. I like the other casio watches you have too.
My advice is to keep updating your wish list and take a look around now and then just to make sure you don't miss a good deal and/or a watch that's being discontinued. Then, when a good deal comes around, you'll know exactly what to do. No need for impulse purchases if you're paying attention. And have fun!
Recently ordered the 5610U with the red stripe and positive display new for a hundred bucks. Was so stoked. Got it and they sent the negative display which is too hard for me to say. Of course they are out of stock on the correct one so I’m on the hunt again. 😆. Killer collection bud! 🤙🏼👊🏼
I tried this watch but found the display harder to read than most squares. I have the older, ba1jf blue one as well as gw5000 and find both those displays more legible. It's noticeable at freeze frame 9:26 This is the only in depth review of the 1cjf i have seen, thank you for that! There's a few photos on the forums but this is way better.
I got the same watch 5 days ago but I'm totally disappointed with the alarm. It is so quiet that it's practically useless. What's the point of a watch with 5 alarms, a countdown alarm and an hourly time signal when you cannot hear it
Welcome back Greg to the world of Casio watches. You are still the encyclopedia of G-Shock. Your solar panel reviews although interesting were not my cup of tea. Despite getting into other Japanese brands such as Citizen, Seiko and Orient watches recently I still use my Casio digitals for complicated issues such as travel and night work. My square is a negative display with bluetooth and ceramic band. I notice when i solar charge it on the bedroom window it sometimes blanks out as it heats up. Best i do your water jar charging trick!
Love the video Greg, I've got 4 G-Shocks I put a combi bracelet on my 5610 and as you say it really does take it to another level, my latest one has been the GW-B5600 sand & land which I see you have also got.
I'm beginning to be annoyed by the fact that I have so many watches and there are some which just don't get worn as often as I'd like. BUT I still have no intention of getting rid of any of them.
I have you to thank for turning me on to the Midnight Green Bluetooth Square when it first came out. I got one nearly immediately and it's a great watch. You can't get the positive display Bluetooth watches anymore in Spain without paying big prices. There are very reasonable negative displays to be had but they are a no-no for me. I recently bought a Citizen Eco Drive watch but I should never have broken my Casio only rule. It's good enough and has Solar Power but I miss the other functions such as multiband and back light.
I've got the CF one with the new module and the TVA Ti one. Both great, I highly reccomend the carbon fibre one displayed in this video if you're only getting one, the band is really comfy and works well for me compared to the traditional rubber band.
I've got a four squares (and a few others). The myriad of versions is bit confusing but tbh I'm only really interested in the aesthetic look and not features it has (although I do like solar) because I don't use the features as I think a phone does these things better and easier.I do plan on adding more.
It's a pity they didn't make Timer with Repetition option. We need it. They should make a choice to choose the Sync Interval: 1x a day, 1x a week, 1x every 2 weeks (that's optimally ), 1x a month. Synchro every night is kind of pointless 😌. 5 time Zones it is enough 🤔. You have impresiv watches collection 😮. 👍🤗
Nice collection, I like the bracelets. I wonder if you have a g - shock with the MIP negative display like the GBX-100 or the GBD-200. They don't have multiband 6 and solar, but they have Bluetooth. But I like the display, very legible. But one of my favorite g-shock is the G-7800. No multiband, no solar, but the level of customization is the best, even the contrast and the font type can be modified.
I haven't tried one of the MIP negative display watches... yet. I bought an inexpensive W291 watch before Christmas and the non-atomic quartz accuracy is truly amazing!
Again, great collection. Have you seen the yellow and green Surfrider Foundation GRX-5600SRF? Also I bought the WS210H-1AVCF last month and almost like it more than the squares for comfort
My collection looks a lot like yours but I keep putting V2 combi bracelets on 5600s and 5610s. I also have six casiooak 2s. BTW the blue 5610 updated U version comes with white writing on the bezels. You can still find a new blue writing bezel for about 17 dollars and it fits. I updated mine. Makes the blue pop a lot more. The blue background was clearly more blue on the old version and it had some extra blue writing too.
I do not understand the premium pricing for those metal G-SHOCK models. Casio offers the LCW-M100TSE-1AER, an analog watch that has titanium casing and wristband, sapphire glass, wave ceptor and tough solar for slightly over $200. If you want the same as a digital watch you have to pay at least ten times that money. So currently the best option is the GW-M5610U-1CJ with a titanium mod, that will cost you just $200 in total.
Solar G-Shocks have not been the strongest on the alarm. The button issue is an inherent flaw of the 5600 case design. It is remedied on the full metal squares.
Nice great watch collection very nice watches Casio s I own two Casio G-Shock I'm also looking for a watch box to keep my watches in so I can start a collection
Great square collection, squire. When do you get a chance to wear them all? Do you have any issues with the bezels breaking down and disintegrating? I bought the DW-5200 in October 1984, yes my getting old! It’s immaculate, but the bezel broke down when I kept it in the dark, I hear that it doesn’t do so in daylight, bizarre. Well, I got a new unofficial replacement from Brazil in about 2010, I’ve barely worn the watch and it’s breaking down again. With regard to all these squares, I think the sweet spot is the GW-5000U. It has the great steel case with nearly all black and white graphics, a clearer display and the latest module which apart from anything has the day and date in the European format. It also has the nicer flexible band. Yes it’s more expensive, but it’ll see my days out. Thanks for your reviews, it’s all the watch you’ll ever need.
I haven't had any issues with bezels breaking down. I will let you know if that happens. I have an earlier version of the GW-5000 and I like the fact that the GW-5000U seems just as good but doesn't cost quite as much. It's a great watch!
@@GoodTimekeeper thanks. It’s a shame. The replacement ones aren’t official, being from a single producer in Brazil, but the original certainly lasted a lot longer. Shame that Casio don’t make them anymore. They were the ones with a less prominent bumper and look neat. My crystal is not scratched so they were quite effective. Great channel and I’m jealous of your collection….I love squares. Rob
YEAH! GSHOCK rule! Now there are many CASIO solar tough looking watches with 100 and even 200m WR that are really nice looking. I wonder if the the G is actually more durable or it's just MARKETING and expensive case material.
I just bought this watch GW-M5610U-1C and I like it but the strap is too big for me and i dont like it. I have small hand wrist 😢. I also have GW-B5600MG love that watch and the strap. Can I buy new B5600 strap and put on GW-M5610? Sorry for my bad english😅
Good stuff. I think there's a fair chance the yen collapses this year, in which case a lot of these "premium" $200-$600 gshocks may look a lot cheaper if they're imported. I hope the square module with solar+multiband+Bluetooth sees some more colors
Dear Greg, I'm torn between the GWM 5610 and the GW5000. I know this is made in Japan and with steel case, but it's worthy to pay almost 3 times more? Also I love the red line (I already have 2 5600) Which one would you recommend me?
People who are G-Shock lovers and like the feel of the original steel squares like the watch a lot. Tbh, the GW-5000/5000U was meant for the serious collectors.
I bought the GW5000 because I really liked the simple color scheme. But I tend to avoid wearing it a lot just because it's so much more expensive than a simple GWM5610 watch. I want to keep the expensive watch in perfect condition, I guess. So that means the GWM5610 is a much more useful watch because I can wear it all the time with little worry. In the end, I'm still glad I have at least one GW5000 in my collection too.
If you mean the -1CJF then no it is made in Taiwan. The GW-5000u-1JF is the Japan exclusive. Steel screw in case back. Better rubber wrap material (subjective) over twice the price. If that’s all correct.
Hello Greg !! Its a wonderful collection of timepieces!! On my opinion i would better invest in high tier GST, MRG or MTG watches, instead of buying low priced squares and rounds, you have thousands of dollars in this watches already and cant sell them in the future for price that close to what you paid for them, i would flip this whole collection to buy really really amazing high tier watches, but we all have different tastes, enjoy !!
It seems like in my everyday life I don’t know anyone who pays any attention to the watches I wear, so there’s no incentive to impress anyone else. I just haven’t ever been attracted to the high tier watches. I suppose I would be too scared that I would damage one somehow and, for that reason, I would never use it anyway. Plus, I am too picky now about features like tough solar and Multiband 6. I can’t imagine I would ever enjoy a high tier mechanical watch. These Casios are so trouble-free!
I recently acquired an older g shock solar waveceptor 2688 module number?, that has time memo capability, also it has a tiny letter in the upper right of the screen, I think it's a "c" do you know of this watch?😅
I have purchased from both ParParts in the USA and from Watchway.co.uk . If I buy from the the U.K. store I have to consider the exchange rate for their prices and shipping in British Pounds, but I've still had some great deals there. It pays to keep an eye on PacParts and wait until they offer discount coupons before you purchase from them. They usually offer some sort of coupon every few weeks. www.pacparts.com/part.cfm?sku=91087117425 www.watchway.co.uk/product-page/g-shock-band-10440758
The bracelet I put on the Midnight Green watch is the same kind which came with another bluetooth Square I bought earlier (GWB5600BC-1). I found the bracelet at www.watchway.co.uk/product-page/g-shock-band-10575397 and they sent it to me in the USA. If I had purchased more they would have given me free shipping for spending more than 100 Pounds. They also list it at www.pacparts.com/part.cfm?sku=91087242064
GA-2100, DW-5700, GW-B5600 and couple more models are made with very tight straps I can't find a sweet spot for my wrist, was wondering does dw6900 strap fits GW-B5600 in particular? Thanks
There are some folks on those watch collector forums who probably know a lot about which straps are compatible with multiple watches. I discovered that the GW-M5610 and the GW6900 can use the same straps and/or bracelets. I was also able to use the same bracelets on GW-B5600 watches. It can be a little tricky working with spring bars in tight spaces to change the straps and/or bracelets, but I was able to do it. The most tricky ones for me were putting bracelets on the AWG-M100 watches. There's just one type of bracelet I found which was made by Casio specifically for those analog AWG-M100s and the similar, non-atomic versions which look almost identical.
I found the cases on eBay and at Amazon. There can be many variations. I bought some which weren't the most expensive and they have served me well. Here's a video I made a little more than a year ago. th-cam.com/video/apKBLC0rFc0/w-d-xo.html
i got today my first g shock square dw 5600 bbn blacked out and i have a 6900 made from two watches black case and straps with chrome screen face and buttons even the screen is chrome like
I am told it's because there is much less electricity interference etc. and this helps the signal get through, but I am only about 100mls. from the tower so I don't have any problems even in the day.
The nature of that particular kind of radio broadcast allows the radio signal to bounce off the atmosphere and then off the ground and back off the atmosphere as it extends farther and farther away from the source. This makes it possible for reception hundreds of miles and even thousands of miles away. And there is less interference when there’s less solar radiation involved.
I have now the same model and module 3495, GW-M5610U-1CJF But I can't turn on the Receiving even I pressing the D button. It's always on Off. Not Turing to On
I have 3 Casio watches at the moment. Please take me out of my misery when I reach the Greg Anderson level.

Rob
Just received a GW-5000U.
Brilliant!
Greetings Mr. Greg, could you please tell me where you got your watch box box/storage case. Thank you
I saw one g shock that has a round face and is solar and atomic sync’d. I’ve been thinking about buying since it’s odd and unusual.
YEAH! GSHOCK rule! Now there are many CASIO solar tough looking watches with 100 and even 200m WR that are really nice looking. I wonder if the the G is actually more durable or it's just MARKETING and expensive case material.
gmw b5000d 1dr - my first Gshock and got it cuz im a sucker for 80s chrome and steel cyberpunk aesthetics
Is that the Ali express combi bracelet on the 5610 old module(3159)? I have the same watch and was looking to upgrade. Looks great imoho
0:34 - Oh look, as a fellow watch enthusiast you just gave me a nice excuse to buy a G-Square, hahahaha
What is the model of the Gshock with red face
GW-M5610U-1CJF all day everyday!! :D
Hi Greg I don’t understand with is the line crossing the screen where is the battery indicator aren’t straight 😮
Good stuff. I think there's a fair chance the yen collapses this year, in which case a lot of these "premium" $200-$600 gshocks may look a lot cheaper if they're imported. I hope the square module with solar+multiband+Bluetooth sees some more colors
What's the model of the very last watch? The largest one in the case at the bottom right? Thanks.
I wish Casio would reissue the G-Shock King with the positive display because that's the only other G-Shock I still want.
Yes this is the video I needed!
Gracias Greg, este azulito, gracias a ti, ya lo tengo.
Is the GW-M5610U-1CJ a Japan exclusive?
If you mean the -1CJF then no it is made in Taiwan. The GW-5000u-1JF is the Japan exclusive. Steel screw in case back. Better rubber wrap material (subjective) over twice the price. If that’s all correct.
Is the display more faint on the 3459 vs 3159?
Great review. Happen to have a link on where to buy the new module 5610u-1c please?
The module is 3495, if I recall.
Google is your friend
Hello Greg !! Its a wonderful collection of timepieces!! On my opinion i would better invest in high tier GST, MRG or MTG watches, instead of buying low priced squares and rounds, you have thousands of dollars in this watches already and cant sell them in the future for price that close to what you paid for them, i would flip this whole collection to buy really really amazing high tier watches, but we all have different tastes, enjoy !!
Most people who buy g-shocks wouldn't care about reselling them.
I like it, but not the blue screen tint.
The lettering on the newer module does not read as bold as the old one
That adrenaline red gshock. Where can you get it today?
I recently acquired an older g shock solar waveceptor 2688 module number?, that has time memo capability, also it has a tiny letter in the upper right of the screen, I think it's a "c" do you know of this watch?😅
where did you get your combi bracelet?// can you give me a link
The genuine Casio GW-M5610 combi bracelet part No is 10440758
I have purchased from both ParParts in the USA and from Watchway.co.uk .

You may want to get a few more
😂
Oh, don't worry. There's already another one I haven't shown you yet.
What G-Shock is on the last row which is reddish
G shock 5600mw
Whats the link for the combi bracelet? Specifically the one you have for the midnight green
Is the 5610MW the only one which numbers glow(not the whole screen) or there are others too?
Hi! What is it about the 5610u you prefer it?
Cheapest version with multiband6 and tough solar
Where did you buy that watch case? Thank you
I found the cases on eBay and at Amazon. There can be many variations. I bought some which weren't the most expensive and they have served me well. Here's a video I made a little more than a year ago.

@@GoodTimekeeper Thank you very much!
i got today my first g shock square dw 5600 bbn blacked out and i have a 6900 made from two watches black case and straps with chrome screen face and buttons even the screen is chrome like
Square with a MIP display, no HR monitor. Is that too much to ask?
What case is that?
Hi Greg. What size wrist can pull off this watch? I have a 7 1/2" wrist.
My wrist is also about 7 1/2 inches and I think these watches are a great fit.
@@GoodTimekeeper Cool, thanks. And now my Rangeman just arrived. From one extreme to the other.🤣
do you have the GW-B5600CY-1 can you do a review about it??? please?????
I don't have that watch.
I'm curious - why is the multband 6 reception better at night?
I am told it's because there is much less electricity interference etc. and this helps the signal get through, but I am only about 100mls. from the tower so I don't have any problems even in the day.
The nature of that particular kind of radio broadcast allows the radio signal to bounce off the atmosphere and then off the ground and back off the atmosphere as it extends farther and farther away from the source. This makes it possible for reception hundreds of miles and even thousands of miles away. And there is less interference when there’s less solar radiation involved.
I have now the same model and module
3495, GW-M5610U-1CJF
But I can't turn on the Receiving even I pressing the D button. It's always on Off. Not Turing to On
Have you set it to a timezone, where atomic clock is available? Multiband 6 works in USA, Europe, China and Japan.
@@spacemanschannel6380 this is already solved 😄
By choosing your city does affect some features to not work.
Other watch brands know how to make easy readable negative displays...not sure why Casio can't on its squares
how many type gshock square with screw caseback ? or stainless steel core with resin bezel and band,tQ
Cool 😎
