I purchased and printed the PnP during the COVID lockdowns and I instantly backed the KS. If you are an Advanced Warhammer Quest Fan, this is the game that GW should have created if GW cared about the game instead of just selling minatures.

Ash is the best!!! Youve got years of content to discover and get lost in. He's published a few of his own games and has a magazine called revolver with a few other pretty big game designers.

The company is just a single person with friends helping for free. The best way to get the game is use the link in the description to sign up for the second printing.
I have the previous pnp Luluprint and have gone all in with the campaign. Once you have setup , created a character and run through a few turns it all gels and you can focus on the quests.
There are charm talents, ratger than a separate stat you can add talents which actually provides exponential character development but generally you tend to develop a character on a main talent for upgrades but can throw in the odd one from other talents.
Really enjoyed your WHQ 95 campaign videos Ash, so definitely looking forward to watching your of LoD games, while my copy is currently on the slow boat from China 😂. Think I’ll be running this with my D&D group with myself as the DM desperately trying to track all the different rules and rolls!

Is there a mechanical reason for using %D rather than a D20 (since the advances mentioned appear to be in 5% increments)? The only thing mentioned that relied on %d is fumbling on 100% roll. This aside, the game looks like a bunch of fun.
Some of your skills can increase 1% at a time (and on the fly during games) so rolls will not always work out to be in increments of 5%
@@worlds-in-conflict Cool. That's the one advantage I can see to using a %d. Plus a steady, grinding increase in skills for characters has got to increase the players' attachment to their little avatars. I'm looking forward to watching you and Ash Kool-Aid your way through this game. 😍😄

I'd say it's already a success! What with all the positive reviews, the 4000 backers last year, and the amount of new people signing up for the re-print - which will definitely happen later this year thanks to videos such as this one :D
Definitely not a game for _everyone_ (and it's not meant to be), but the same can definitely be said about Gloomhaven - which has been my favorite dungeon crawler up until now after having playtested LoD! As a big fan of WHQ, this one really _really_ nails it for me ^^
@@ConraDargo sorry but that doesnt equal success or staying power. Yes theres a ton of people who want a "new" warhammer quest so they backed it. Once they actually get into playing a game of it and see how over complicated for no reason it is, THEN we will see how many people stick around. By next year my prediction is this thing will be a memory. Hopefully Im wrong.
@@forestcityterrain6465 Oooh right, ok ok you mean like a commercial success or something along those lines? Well that's not gonna happen! :) But for sure there will more backers in the future, and the game will live on like that for a while - with expansions coming up as well to prolong the campaign and world-building and such!
Edit: I just wanted to add that this this game is still only a very humble guy's dream project; to try and create something that a lot of us old-timers from the WHQ/HQ era could enjoy, with some extra flavor to it! It was (still is!) never meant to be all hyped or become a big success or be on everyone's lips. It's not out there to earn him money, it's out there as a game for anyone to enjoy who might be into this kind of gameplay :)
Michael was only ever hoping for enough backers (like a 100 or so) to get the game into actual _print_ rather than PnP only, and that's it!
I’m excited for this! It sounds a bit Basic Role Play from Chaosium with the percentages. I like the idea that you get cardboard! Also, not for nothing, I like the idea of getting away from the term ‘race’ and replace it with species.
Looks a bit bloated rules wise. I imagine a game taking hours and hours of rules lookup. Just play B/X era D&D.
Definitely for the first time! But you'll slowly get into it, like with any game, and it's worth all that time for sure, this is a _great_ game ^^
Edit: also, there are some cheat-sheets available, for quick-referencing :))
I said the same thing and the same dude replied to my comment. They are trying to keep up the illusion that its not overcomplicated because its too late to change lol
@@forestcityterrain6465 I think it really comes down to where you're coming from, as a player, and how much time you are willing to spend on a game! This is a pretty niche game for sure, with a _ton_ of stuff in it (rules-wise I mean), but there are plenty of us who don't mind that ^^
Like, I spent my first 2 hours with the prototype just getting into how to create characters, and then making my party of two! But I totally loved it and didn't mind _at all_ how quickly those hours passed XD
