  • The DOOMED is a miniature skirmish game set in an encroaching apocalypse. The five horrifying Dooms reach across an abandoned planet and your Warband is one of the final bastions of resistance. You hunt the Horrors that run loose, anchored to the planet by Nexuses and try to achieve some type of Apotheosis before the end.
Based on and promising and outlet for the Kitbash culture of #28, The Doomed's rules-lite approach with heavy emphasis on progressive Narrative building gives an outlet to anyone into the Apocalypse-Punk worlds of artists like John Blanche, Simon Bisley or Geoff Darrow. Let's check it out.

Looking forward to seeing your battle report as I find it easier to understand the rules when seeing played out

Putting the complexity in to the warband generation and campaign rules, rather than on to the tabletop appeals to me. The movement rules sound very cool and thematic. I think I'll be ordering this book.
"What's the point of all this?" 😄😄😄

This game is pure quality and very thematic. Been playing it a lot with group! In our campaign story, I set the campaign so it's on a world that was settled by the Interex but they abandoned it for an unknown reason leaving some Interex to fend for themselves against chaos great beasts on the world. Later on some knights from Caliban tried to escape their world to a different one with the last hidden starship , they crashed on New Caliban and ended up integrating with the Interex so it's a mix culturally of the two. Much time passed. Then The Horrors came about, first discovered at the grave of the Last Starship.

I've been hoping that you would cover this one Ash :)
Counting my solo game to gauge how it worked, I have played eight games of The Doomed in the last month or so, and I am travelling for a weekend of The Doomed later this month.
I have really been enjoying it. It is a shenanigans generator that is all about the stories and the giggles.
The cognitive load is light, the gameplay time is nice and short and the different ways to approach the hobby side of it has had me obsessing and digging through old project boxes ever since release.
I can't recommend The Doomed enough. I hope that you find a collaborator for this that has a sense of humour and that you click well with. The games that I have played to date have generated entertaining stories about fun, oddball miniatures. In the company that I was lucky enough to be playing in, it was consistently laugh out loud stuff.

Being from California, it's been over 20 years since I've heard anyone say 'Hella'. Is it coming back? It made me smile.

Man, I just love Osprey’s output these past few years. Gaslands, Zona Alfa, Gamma Wolves; they’ve been kicking out some of my new favorites.

I'm digging the rules light narative heavy nature of The Doomed.

    Love the doomed!

I love the Doomed. Happy to see it getting more recognition. One of the coolest
Skrimish games I’ve encountered in many years.

I also like how much GAME you get. Most books are rules and stuff with two or three games. This is 36 conflicts and 36 horrors, which is insane and a TON of game play.

It's always nice to see a game focus on just having a good time instead of being a hyper-competitive sweaty expensive collect-a-thon. I love how light the rules are, 99% of the time awkward interactions in rules can be solved just by using common sense. I love not having measuring tapes too, always weird that guns in a lot of games seem to have a maximum range of about 30 feet in scale lmao

My fiance and my son and I are gearing up to play this. Kitbashing some Inhetitors from Reaper Knights and some D&D minis. My fiance is playing kitbashed bugbears as alien bigfoots, and my son plans to slap together a team from his favorite 40K minis. Already rolled up a few horrors and I'm using old DOOM The Board game minis, a mini from the Magic The Gathering board game, and a kitbashed Final Faction toy from Dollar Tree.

I watched the battle reports from on table top, this game looks like a boat load of fun.
I bet that you and Jay would be a great duo to play this. The possible shenanigans are right up your ally.
If i can find an opponent interested in playing it, i’ll have to give it a go. Orks would be a great faction for this…..

I preordered this like a bajillion years ago and am really impressed with some things but the biggest weakness imo is A not giving your individual guys enough personality when progressing through a campaign and B the injury table is PITIFUL. I'm really hoping they do a campaign book because the individual games feel pretty fun

In a pinch you can substitute eldritch horrors with daemon and tyranid monsters.
What happened to the R&F game Hobgoblin from the Gaslands creator? I saw a few battle reports on Youtbe a few months ago and now it´s radio silence. Is he waiting for the release of Old World to capitalize on this alternative rule design?

Editing is pretty bad in this book (has anyone found how you determine Initiative, lol?) but a great system. I'm demoing it at a micro con tonight. Also thinking of making a Warcry reskin. Can't think of anything the Warcry rules accomplish that can't be done easier and better in Doomed.

    • @cheetor_sho3box
      @cheetor_sho3box 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

The editing is my only gripe about the book. Typos here and there that could confuse slightly.
The issues are minor at least, and the nature of the game meant that any potential rules issues were non-issues in my games.
(FYI, for initiative the "First Player is randomised at the start of each Round", page 9, just above the box out :) )

Warcry shouldn't be changed, that game has a great system especially the unique initiative in it
