    Brian,
I cannot thank you enough for your very thoughtful and consistent evaluation of Fisker and its attributes as well as its faults of the last six months. I look forward to hearing your opinions and seeing how you deal with the various issues. I have decided, almost to 90%, to keep our Fisker. It is not our only car. We have a very reliable, very successful 2013 Subaru Outback wagon that has no faults compared to the Fisker.
One of the new Fisker dealers is in Albany, New York, which is 63.2 miles away from me. They were an original Fisker Karma dealer and have grown into a large auto sales and servicing company. The cars that they have in inventory that they service are Alfa Romeos, Jaguars, Porsches, Lamborghinis, Land Rovers, the Mercedes G class wagons, and of course they have about 30 Fisker Oceans on their lot. I visited the repair shop/dealership to introduce myself when I was in their area. They are waiting to receive, for more than a month, a Fisker laptop to use to diagnose and repair Fisker Oceans. So, the biggest issue is what the heck is Fisker doing that undermines their own dealers. The point is, if Fisker survives, I will have a local repair shop that is used to dealing with Fisker and other high-end automobiles.
95% of our driving is local. At the end of July, we’re taking a trip out to Cape Cod, which you are very familiar with to visit a friend who has a weekend house there. So, I’m truly hoping we don’t get stuck between here and there because that would be a nightmare.
I watched your last TH-cam upload, as well as Adam’s to get a good sense of the financial situation with our Fisker. At the age of nearly 80, I bought this car as my first EV to help the environment and especially younger people who are going to suffer greatly down the road. My wife and I will be long gone, but we thought that could be a small part of our legacy. If we’ve already lost $45-$50,000 on this car, it doesn’t leave much more for me to lose. I will be able to withstand that with my remaining lifespan. We paid cash for our FOO car which coast us $76,968.94 (all in). So I am, 90% sure I’m just going to keep it and drive it until I can’t get service, which as I said above, should not be a problem if Fisker gives the dealer a laptop to do all the analysis.
I can definitely say without reservation that this was the most anxiety producing decision I’ve ever made in my life, whether it is a financial decision, business decision, or physical acquisition decision. Most of my life, at least 45 years’ worth I’ve been in business for myself, and that leaves plenty of opportunity for making wrong decisions and having anxiety but none as bad as buying a Fisker- or as my friend says - a Fixer. I sincerely hope that the Fiskers get what they deserve over the next year or two.
I know that this is a long rant, which may not be necessary, but it makes me feel somewhat better than I’m getting it out of my system for several people to see. I wish you well in all of your endeavors and once again I really appreciate all that you’ve done for me and my understanding, of the insanity of what we have gotten into.

Brian, thanks for sharing your journey through the end. My journey started in October too, but i was rear ended less than a month later. Unable to get parts, or even parts listing to get a repair estimate, insurance couldn’t do anything with it until late January. I was rear ended by an uninsured motorist, which turned out to be very lucky, since I was only dealing with my insurance company. They finally wrote me a check for the estimated repairs, and I sold it the first week of February. There were not any parts, or ETA on getting parts to repair it. I knew I wanted out, and had huge concerns about Fisker surviving. I was just very lucky with my timing.

    • @DaveDarin
      @DaveDarin 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@RoxyJill I do agree that Adam was probably a consideration leading EV OG to the ultimate decision and a decision that Adam also made. But there are other continuing and constant issues I have seen from many others in the FaceBook Oceans Groups. Some could be exaggeration, some could be untrue, it's impossible to be sure. BUT I did, out of curiosity, try contacting service. I tried on the phone 2 times, waited 56 minutes and got cut off, waited 1hr and 6 minutes and I hung up. I also tried online and no reply. So, if Fisker goes under I have equal concerns on service and the cost of shipping, parts, and repair cost. So, there is more to it, I assume, than Adam influence here, although it most likely contributed as all of this is cumulative.

Brian, Thank you for sharing your Fisker Transitioning Story.
I have a suspicion that Tata is likely one of the large investors in Fisker and the 8K and 10K documents are worded to protect Tata's investment and avoid another company swooping in and acquiring Fisker once all 2023 vehicles have been sold. If that is the case, I can only hope that Tata will eventual restart the production of the Ocean, and ideally make service and parts available for those of us that have chosen to ride out the turbulent sea of owning an ocean. I personally do not see another EV that meets my criteria and has a cost under $70k.

As someone that has it paid off in full, I will be keeping it. There is nothing out there that I could purchase with the features that it has. It drives like a dream - I like the car...depreciation is part of having a new car - this one more so unfortunately. Also - I don't like the look of any other EV's out there. I'll keep it. I'll risk it. I'll run it until I can't anymore.

Hi Brian, thank you for your informative videos and your comments. I also appreciate that you published all details on your transaction. But, I think that you and Adam are not right at that point. I know this from the equity market. As long, as uncertainty exists, the market prices in the worst possible scenario. Even if FSR goes bankrupt the prices won't be under pessure to that extend like they are now (maybe it will drop after the event, but not on the longer perspective). So basically I think, it is not the best timing now. I have got my FOE in February and did not really have issues. Of course, the error messages are also annoying me, but the car is my main vehicle and did quite well here - I even drove 7000 miles in these 3 months without major problems. All the best with your new XC40 (I had a XC90 PHEV before the Fisker)!

I respect your decision. Fisker never honored their promises from the beginning. They launched an unfinished car.software updates are never going to happen since production has stopped and magna has moved on. They sold cars and charged dollars from people for features which were not available. Offered free charging creadits and tyres but never honored it. They screwed investors by not filing to SEC which led to dilution. They screwed existing owners by slashing down prices for their benefit. Its not like only a fisker ocean can do something which other cars cant do. They never kept their promises? Why should we keep their cars.

Hi Brian, thank you for all your thoughts, have loved your posts. Shame you feel you had to sell up, but everyone needs to make the correct decisions for themselves. I’m continuing with FOO here in UK, we have a couple of dealers who will service and deal with any accidents, agree about the value of the car,but there must be a lower limit given the 113 kWh battery, a 13kWh tesla PW is £7500 UK, so 113 x 8TPW = £60000, even if its half that its got value, also in uk, as soon as you drive off the forecourt you loss 20% valve so my 60K car from day 1 would only be worth 54K. Excellent video and wise choice. Your reason #4, (service, parts, dealers, OTAs) is the coup de grace. I don't see how even the most ardent Ocean aficionado would argue to the contrary. The Noteholder is simply milking the cow for every last drop. They will keep dropping the prices until the sales slow to the point where the operation is no longer financially viable, then send the remaining to auction houses...which will diminish resale value. Once BK materializes, prices will drop further.
As a former shareholder and owner, the combined loses must be a painful lesson. But most of us make similar mistakes sooner or later.

A gamble I wasn’t going to take, so I got a 2024 Subaru Solterra Limited. They had a $0 down lease to help soak up some of the negative equity. All other leases wanted $4-5k down. After driving it for 2 days, I realize how much better built it is and I now have adaptive cruise with lane centering, wireless CarPlay, no rattles, no creaks! No 0-60 in 6.5 seconds is not fast, the range is nowhere near the ocean one, but I don’t drive far often at all. I have 0 regrets getting rid of it, and hope others listen to this while they can. Wise and logical conclusion. I will miss your observations. FO future value will be determined by the parts aftermarket. The bigger issue is the EV market in general is depreciating rapidly(except Tesla) as compared to ICE machines. So I would be compounding my losses by moving to another EV model. It's just not a growing market anymore, therefore not the "safe destination" one seeks in correcting the course as you say. That is why you got a "good" price on the Volvo which is a nice machine. Eventually I will have to get another ICE machine.

Don't look at it as a loss. Depreciation is really a cost of ownership. Those of us who became adults prior to the pandemic know that new cars lose value as soon as you sign the purchase contract. It is a part of buying and selling cars (resale value is not part of the equation if you don't plan to sell). Sometimes previously unseen factors play into future decisions.

@EV_OG Yeah. Some of Fisker's problems were unforeseen. I've been buying cars since the 70's (not often since I keep en until they no longer meet the requirements). But, I've always been told to ignore whatever the salespeople tell you because if it's not written down in the sales contract, it's not real.

It is clear you are again in your stages of mourning. You are trying to convince yourself that you have made the right decision. Time will only tell. I believe the chance that Fisker will survive is very slim. The only strategy that would still make sense is to get rid of the noteholder, pay them off with the revenues coming from inventory, and then try to sell the company free of debts from the noteholder. But that is going to be a long shot. as a FOO owner who has not thrown in the towel, I still hope for such a scenario (how every unlikely)

Do you believe the extremely toxic positivity by some of the SoMe key enthusiast (Fiskerati, Reddit and Oceanforums moderators come to mind) could have prevented Fisker from acting more in the interest of their customers? Criticism of the factual errors and lackings of Fisker and the Ocean as delivered was forcefully silenced and gave Fisker more wiggle room to continue ripping of their customers, since the SoMe outfall was not nearly as visible as it could have been.

I just laughed and after a lot of banter the GSM who made that call is no longer with that dealership. I have found 2 Oceans, no not Atlantic and Pacific, but both local used ones, both under 2000 miles for under $34k, one under $31k. Now do I buy? I have been back and forth on this constantly for over a month. I've over monitored the FaceBook groups which I actually exited from as they got more and more discouraging. It's just a hard determination, very hard. Support and service of any vehicle is critical and, out of curiosity I tried calling the service number and emailing and ZERO reply. You could be right about it being GOLD but there was a Twilight Zone episode were criminals stole gold, went into suspended animation for 100 years, came back and their gold was worth nothing as technology could manufacture gold. So going 3 weeks into the near future in June where there might be a final, or closer to final, determination. Your GOLD might be valuable or turn into dust. Hard to tell.

It just got to be a constant bombardment of things I've read which I can not confirm to actually being accurate. 12v battery failures during OTA which made Oceans immobile. Outside door handle inserts deteriorating, cracked solar sky, cracked windshield with no available replacements, 17in screen malfunction, lack of service which that one I did verify to be true.
