    Man, you are really awesome!!! You explain everything so well and pronounce each word so perfectly that I almost feel like you are speaking my native language, which is spanish. And olso you explain everything in such a simple way that anyone with a minimun of knowledge can understand it. Thank you so much for all your technical and practical tips.

    Since 2021, my Latitude 5520 has had all the features and performance for my real estate and artwork. Sometimes, I used external speakers to get the volume and quality. When it was new, the motherboard and hard drive had to be replaced. Thank goodness for on-site service support. DELL wants $420 to Renew the Warranty, so I might buy the 5550.

      You are right, $420 is a lot, if your laptop is still capable to perform what needs to be done, just keep it as long as you can. Nothing will happen when the warranty expires as a matter of effect, I pretty much never buy an extended warranty. We are managing about 1300 Dell laptops and desktops combined, most of them last 5-6 years or longer. Regards of speaker quality, we are making smaller, thinner, lighter laptops so we are putting smaller speakers in them, unfortunately this has not been improved in2024 at all.

      Hello,
      This is the service manaul for the laptop with detailed installation for SSD upgrade:
      www.dell.com/support/manuals/en-us/precision-15-5550-laptop/precission_5550_sm/installing-the-solid-state-drive2?guid=guid-20904f0c-b1f1-4efa-8ded-48184e4b552b&lang=en-us
      "Computer supports 2 solid-state drive slots. Solid-state drive1 is the primary slot and solid-state drive2 is the secondary slot. If you are installing only one solid-state drive, install the drive to the primary slot. Install the second solid-state drive, if available, to the solid-state drive2 slot."
      You can have two 2230 NVme SSD installed or one 2230 and a 2280 NVMe SSD.
      2.5" Sata SSD or HDD can not be installed.

    Great video, I will definitely return to your channel! What do all the performance metrics mean from the last segment of your video? Do you think there's much of a processing difference between 16GB and 32GB memory? Thanks

    • @Scott.The.IT.Guy.
      @Scott.The.IT.Guy.  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks! Depends on what application you are running. Regular browsing, outlook, documents should not exceed 16 GB of Ram.
      If you work with large excel files, presentation, 10+ pages in the browser, photo/video editing, gaming 32 Gb of Ram can help, but again for general usage, 16 GB is perfectly fine.

    Are we able to manually replace the memory or is it soldered? Looking to get one of these.

      @Scott.The.IT.Guy.  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, we have to slots so we can go up to 64 GB if needed. th-cam.com/video/hIJAXH31fC8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=BvY9D7B79hsO7VKf&t=308

    Does this laptop use any "soft touch" rubber coatings in the case? I have a Latitude 6530 I bought in 2013 that had a sof touch rubber keyboard deck and it's horrible to keep clean. They eventually get nasty. I have a TV remote with it and had to throw it out eventually.
    Also, is the RAM or SSD soldered to the motherboard?
    Thanks!

    • @Scott.The.IT.Guy.
      @Scott.The.IT.Guy.  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That was a lesson to learn for sure, this one does not have rubber coating 😊
      We have two ram slots, and the SSD is replaceable as well.

    Does anyone has successfully upgraded the battery on the latitude 5550? I upgrade the ssd and the ram front 16 to 32gb. Yet the battery doesn't last too long. When I'm working I'm lucky if I have 2 hours.

    • @Scott.The.IT.Guy.
      @Scott.The.IT.Guy.  3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      What are you running on the laptop?
      The battery is significantly worse compared to the previous generation for sure but it should last way longer than 2 hours.
      Do you know how to run a battery health check? What power profile do you have in bios and in windows?

    Hi, can I disconnect the battery and work with direct power from the source?
    Thanks

    • @Scott.The.IT.Guy.
      @Scott.The.IT.Guy.  4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Unfortunately I don’t know the answer. A lot of these new laptops no longer has Bios batteries, therefore if you disconnect the main battery the laptop will not turn on. However the bios has different battery management options and there should be one for the same scenario where you are going to use the laptop from the charger.

      Latitude 5550 Owner's Manual:
      www.dell.com/support/manuals/en-us/latitude-15-5550-laptop/latitude-5550-owners-manual/system-setup-options?guid=guid-7c9da4e5-1ba4-4a40-a7c7-a38b0b39939f&lang=en-us
      Table 7. System Setup options-Power menu:
      Theres is a lot of options on how to configure the battery behavior. There is a menu here called advanced I believe there is an option if you are not using the battery at all just the charger to extend the battery life.
      Hope this helps!

    Dell Beats HP in terms of design quality. HP design sucks horribly!

      They make really good machines, but so do HP and Lenovo as well. There are some segments where Dell has a hard time competing. HP EliteBook’s and Z books are really good just as the higher end ThinkPad’s
