How are you liking them now? I am annoyed with my XT’s and am wanting to order these TRP’s ASAP
@@jj5561 stopping power is phenomenal, I have no complaints with the system at all. I did get a bad batch of rotors that rusted quite badly so I simply swapped them out for some galfer 2.0mm rotors and they work like a dream. Bled them on install, have been perfect since. 100% improvement over XT. My riding partner has trickstuff on his 165 and tbh whilst they are more aggressive than the TRP, there really isn’t much in it.

Thanks for this video. I didn't know TRP made lever adapters for MatchMaker and i-Spec. I'll be switching to these once I'm ready to leave my Shimano XTRs behind.
Will be upgrading to these once I get good use out of my Codes
I wonder if the piston seals are standard type, and if it's easy to get spare seals somewhere. I know they don't offer spares, and not seen spares, but seals can wear out eventually.
but I guess there is some seal at the cover too.
Thanks for the vid. Do you feel it takes a lot of work to pull the levers? Looks like there was a decent amount of resistance to pull on them? I like how easy XTRs are to engage, but the inconsistent bite point drives me crazy, and RSCs are great in feel/modulation, but on the long decents, the brake-fade is also troublesome...wondering if the TRPs could be the solution??? Cheers!
I find the lever pull is fairly similar to my XTR’s but the levers do feel bigger and the return is a bit faster. The bite point and power are both very consistent.

Have been mulling a set of these to put on my all black E Ransom. I was thinking id have to go for black or maybe silver (graphics are silver), but now Ive seen the gold ones on your all black rig Im really liking the contrast and might actually clinch my decision to swap out the XTs. One question, any particular reason for choosing the floating rotors over the one piece items?
The E Ransom is a nice bike, I got floating rotors as they were the only ones in stock at the time, I'll probably get the R1 rotors when they wear out.
@@jedmtb Ahh fair enough, tbf I prefer the single piece rotors but these do actually look good. Ive had the E ransom (710 black camo) since 2021 and im just on the cusp of replacing the Fox units with Ohlins, ive had to talk myself into it cos the Fox units arent exactly rubbish and the Ohlins setup ain't exactly cheap but having had a go on an Ohlins shod ebike the small bump sensitivity and plushness at the top is worlds apart.

I have some of these TRP DH Evo on the way. Which match makers did you order for your SRAM shifter? I'm going to mate them to Sram AXS shifter. My guess is that I"ll need the same one you used for your shifter. Let me know... By the way, I've used TRP metallic sintered pads and they are amazing, not one issue in 8 months.

@@jedmtb Thanks for your help! Your set up looks clean. How you liking the brakes after several months use? A friend of mine showed me a new trend called "Shigura."
They run shimano XT or XTR brake lever with Magura MT7 or MT5 caliper, with mineral oil for a powerful system. They said its not much in modulation but instant power. The instant comes from the shimano lever, the power from the Magura caliper. I bet it would work with a TRP caliper.

Looking to buy a set and was wondering what size of cable came with both breaks? Do they both just come with 190mm for both front and back? and do you have to buy a specific front and rear break?
They both came with 1900mm hoses, the levers are RH and LH but can be run either front or rear because the hoses are the same length.

Great overview! I am having some noise on these brakes as well, The new resin pads you put on that stopped to the noise issue…. Which ones were they? Were they the TRP blue ones?
I used MTX braking and Trickstuff pads.

Do you think it is equivalent with Magura MT5 when it comes to quality and braking power? Because I have MT5 and I don’t know if it is worth replacing it or not on my downhill bike.
I’ve not used Magura so I can’t really compare them but the TRP’s have been powerful and very consistent.

After installing the adapter to run my SRAM XO1 shifter I can't quite get the location to work well. I'm either reaching for the shifters or I have to slide the brakes further out to the end which in turn has me grabbing the middle of the brake lever. I wish there was an option to run the adaptor to the outside rather than towards the stem. Have you had that issue at all?
Would it be possible to use the LH-adapter on the right side for this purpose?
those pads are better than Shimano metallic pads, as good bite, but slower wear and does not crack like Shimano does. I've not tried these brakes, But I have the semimetallic pads from TRP on TRP Spyke.
there has been a brake shortage, so i was not able to try any hydraulic brakes, even if I wanted to.
Is that a slash you have them on? I'm thinking about possibly putting them on my slash once it gets here if I don't like the Code R's
Yes it’s a 2021 Slash 9.7, the TRP’s replaced the Code R’s that came with it as they weren’t very consistent.

@@colemitchmtb The Slash great and really fun to ride, the only real issue is the seat angle is a bit slack if you're tall.
Are these better than the hope tech4 v4? I like power but not the on and off of Shimano. I had the old v4s but picked up an ambassadorship from trp but have not experience with them at all
They have more power than the tech 3 v4’s but similar modulation, I’ve had zero issues with them and I really like how consistent they are.
the thing with the pads was weird, I use the same compound, unless they have secretly changed it. might have been a bad batch. maybe you contaminated the pads with a puddle, some oil spill somewhere on a wet road, leaking pistons? I've never had any issues with noise.
I've the red pads from TRP Spyke, with TRP-29, Hope Tech 160, 180mm, 180mm,203mm, and now TrickStuff Dähhle 223mm front and rear.Did you try to degrease the pads and use 100 grit sand paper? if they were contaminated this should restore them in most cases, always worked for me. factory might have contaminated the brakes, despite brakes not leaking.

Really nice review dude & Great video quality ! those brakes looks really gorgeous. I think they will be my next brakes. You had the SRAM Code RSC before them ? why you changed ? I also have Code RSC, i'm happy with them but the centerline rotors are too thin, they always bent. And maybe they're a bit slow since a recently big MTB Week end (4 days / 4700D+). Dunno if i have to purge the front one (i have the bike for 3 months now). Also wondering between the gold & silver version on a mint color bike (SCOR 4060 ST GX Mint)
Thanks! I still use the Code RSC’s on another bike but with 2.3mm rotors now, normally just need to clean the pistons after a big week like that. The SCOR 4060 is nice bike 👌

@@SylvainProov Yes they do, I’m using the Hope ones and my friend has a set of TRP’s with his codes.
@@jedmtb nice ! i was looking at Hope & TRP rotors. Which TRP model ur friend is using ? floatting or fixed ? Yesterday i did a perfect caliper alignement, but the pistons don't come out exactly the same ^^' i'll do the piston service this evening ;)
@@SylvainProov He is using R1 S01E fixed rotors but I believe they’ve been discontinued for the new S05E ones.
Those would look great with all those nukeproof copper components
It uses mineral oil, and no finned pads. What is it like when it heats up. I guess those thick rotors take heat away from the caliper, but after a while they hold heat. I'm a MTB beginner on a basic hardtail, however I have a specific type of downhill build in mind one day in a few years, though things will have changed a little by then.
It's a newly formulated mineral oil that sheds heat. That with the thick rotors get it done!

Could these brakes be used with a 2mm rotor? `would the .3mm make much of a difference?
Yes but as the minimum wear thickness is 1.8mm they wouldn’t last as long.

How do you like these compared to the Sram CODE RSC?
They're a bit more powerful and consistent than the code's which from my experience can suffer from sticky levers and pistons.
@@jedmtb glad to hear. I'm thinking of upgrading and was undecided between the Code RSC and the DHR-Evo.
How are the TRP on reliability? I ask because of heard its hard to get parts for it if your LBS do not carry these.
@@rdelao I've had zero issues with then but you're correct the spares are harder to get if you need any.
