    Please do this worst of luxury as a vlog every year. It is like a conversation with a bestie. You nailed it. I knew Chanel and Tom Ford would be on the list. They been effing up. Even the Chanel 2022 preview looks meh. I wonder if Chanel changed the blush formula due to ingredient shortage or just to save money by switching ingredients. That is usially what happens in the fragrance industry when a scent is reformulated. I can't even use some those new TF quads cause they are too light for me. I can't wait til you try the newest quads with the new formula. The Fenty Skin tint looks ok on me initially but it doesn’t wear well throughout the day.

    Making this a quarterly feature would be a huge help! So many high-end beauty channels are afraid to give negative critique to poor products as they come out, so this is a refreshing view!

    Considering the price tag attached to high end make up, "just ok" is NOT ok. If I am going to shell out that kind of money I need it to WOW me. Thanks for the heads up!

      Exactly! And we shouldn’t see smaller pan sizes (PMG). And you shouldn’t have to stand on your head and recite Shakespeare to get a product to work.

    • @brittany9233

      Absolutely! We do not pay luxury prices for anything less than excellent. It should at least be a respectable product even if it doesnt knock your socks off. We expect more care and higher quality because that's what we're paying for, and these big classic luxury houses need to know the weight of their brand name just ain't gonna carry them if they keep phoning it in.

    I’m so frustrated with Chanel it started when they reformulated their cream bronzer which was perfection just needed more shades. They downgraded the ingredients and decided coconut oil was a good idea. I think they are using cheaper ingredients to get more profit and have really lost a lot of customers in the process. They certainly didn’t lower their prices to reflect the cheaper ingredients. Sending you oodles of love

    • @deirdreevangelista856
      @deirdreevangelista856 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Its unfortunate that they are doing that,it ALWAYS happens they do it to save $$$,and the product goe s to hell in a hand basket! And then you have to search for a replacement for something that WAS perfect....Or they discontinue the product.. You cant win...... In the end those companies are bitting themselves in the a** because pwoplw ars going to turn away from their products. And their reputation is gonna suffer. At thjs point thsy are existing just by reputation ALONE... Gabrielle Chanel must be rolling in her grave now....

  • @kathleenem9207
    @kathleenem9207 2 ปีที่แล้ว +69

    I remember when you reviewed the “new” reformulated Chanel blushes months ago. I had one of the old ones (loved it) and immediately went out and bought 4 of the old ones. Before I purchased, I asked the saleswoman if they were the new version and she apologetically said no, the store hadn’t gotten them in yet. She looked quite surprised when I said “Good! I’ll take these 4.” Obviously she doesn’t watch reviews so I told her don’t be surprised if the reaction to the newer ones isn’t positive. Situations like this are one of the reasons I watch your channel. Aside from excellent suggestions for good products, you also give us a heads up about what to avoid. Happy Holidays!

    • @TheFaro2011
      @TheFaro2011 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Fair enough. But how can one wear the same blush for approximately 4 years? A blush takes a year of using. By the time you've finished one something new on the market elsewhere. I've stopped stockpiling. Once I got to using the product I had fatigue and over it.

  • @amberr6589
    @amberr6589 2 ปีที่แล้ว +19

    I totally agree. I purchase across the makeup spectrum- drug store to luxury. When I buy luxury it’s because it’s either (and hopefully a combination of) - innovative color story, a better (new) performing formula, or the packaging and purchasing experience. If I can’t get those things for the extra $ that luxury lines require forget it. Oh and the Valentino release, totally with you. I didn’t purchase anything from that launch because it just looked cheap to me and I can’t get past it.

  • @dianes.3583

    Thank you for telling the truth about Fenty. There was so much hype in the online beauty community about it and I kept waiting for an "the Emperor has no clothes" moment, because it's really not that good. I bought it with high hopes that it would be better than their other face products but after wearing it 4 or 5 times, I quietly decluttered it because it's so dry and unflattering.

    • @AspasiaB

      Yes! The original foundation gave me lizard-woman vibes, which was quite a dear considering how oily my skin was at the time. The red lip gloss/stick, the Stunna one, was gross on my lips. That was enough to make me pass on the brand. That said, my bestie loves the brand so I bought her Fenty products for her birthday.

      @@AspasiaB They're killawatt higlighter blushes are really good and some of the regular lipsticks too. That's about it. Sadly the best and daring colors no other brands have are getting discontinued all because people only buy same shades of nudes and contour colors.

It is all about the experience and the presentation, it's what sells the product. I Love Chanel but this holiday year- um, no thank you - not impressed. The only thing that they got right are their little holiday gift boxes. How they open and fold and the die cutting is clever. They look like cute little bags. But that's it. Dior, they nailed it! Being on thin budget , working on a farm while searching for quality skin care and perfume & makeup is hard as it is lol. Thank you❤ Merry Christmas & Happy new years!

    Thanks Michele. When a product is a stretch of my budget, I sure don't want it to disappoint. Good to know.

    I totally agree with your opinion on Pat’s recent launches. With Gucci tho, as far as I know the brand wants to do something like custom eyeshadow palettes so you could buy the insets and the boxes separately and mix and match them as you like so you can create your own story in a way. And as my as the outside looks very Gucci, the inside is clearance at Target. On top of that I didn’t enjoy the eyeshadow formula

    What’s interesting about the Chanel blush reformulation is that one of the things they removed is the silk that was in the old formula….🧐 I’m sure that made it cheaper but it screwed up the texture 😒😡

    Michele, really enjoyable video! Glad to see such candor in a years end video. 🙌🏼 I have to agree with you on so many points you made, from PML, to Tom Ford quad shadows, to crappy packaging on luxe products ie Hermes, Valentino. For me, this year game changing experience was Victoria Beckham Beauty. If these Luxe beauty brands want to bring their A game, they need to see what she’s been bringing to the beauty industry table. Her packaging is impeccable. Her products have not disappointed. All are just beautiful! Plus, she’s a clean brand. I’ve been a tremendous PML fan. But, this year, I’ve found myself purchasing VBB and leaving the latest and greatest of so many other luxe beauty brands behind. They’ve become boring when they could be innovative or luxurious. Great video, great dialogue! Thanks!🤗👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

    I am so here for this! More "worst of" videos please! Love it. Completely agree with you on PMG, TF, Chanel. Hermes packaging is Meh (although the highlighter is the best I've ever used they could at least have done nicer packaging!). VB has it nailed with her luxury experience, quality of packaging and product. Others should take note!

    I would totally totally agree with you about Pat McGrath and the line that she had come out for the holidays. This was my first year to buy and splurge on the collection and I really thought long and hard about it but I got it and when it came I was so thoroughly disappointed because of the the fact that I got the same look from those pallets exactly like you said. Granted I still love the quality which you can't find in every luxury brand, but when people spend their hard-earned money on luxe brands, they expect a little more "creative "inspiration" from their collections. I hope that someone/everyone from the design teams from ALL makeup brands could see this video because of the articulate, honest way you let them know how we all, as consumers, feel! Your an amazing motivational speaker and companies would do their due diligence to actually listen and take your advice. MERRY MISHMAS!

    Haha, your effortless expectation of, at least make it baked gelee - for a product :"D So Michele, and I agree very much, too. This reminds me, I managed to get my hands on the Burberry highlighter in White, I'm ready to sparkle for the season!

    Another great video. I totally agree with your thoughts on packaging. You could argue about formulation being better with luxury makeup, but if your asking someone to pay 10x more than drugstore, you had better give them that much more in the total experience. I will not spend the money on a Valentino makeup product if the packaging is plastic, especially red plastic (makes it look even cheaper).

    I agree with you about the Gucci palette too. For some reason it reminds me of holly hobby or some thing from the early 80s.

    I agree with your comments on the PML palettes. I was really looking forward to the holiday quads. Once I saw them I was disappointed and knew I would not get them. I fear this is her new direction with the quads, they have been getting less special with every release.
