    great video. thank you. I'm an amateur photographer with intentions of becoming pro travel/hiker photo/videographer.
    1. for still photography which one do you recommend 80D or A6300 (all purpose but mostly outdoors traveling/forest/beaches or even people, city or subjective)?
    2. Do I have enough lens options to fulfill all my needs?
    3. what will be the limitations comparing to 80D (lenses or accessories)?
    4. Should I choose 80d over A6300 because of Touch Screen Focusing System [very important]
    5. how much durable is A6300 in weather conditions like extreme cold in the snowy mountain treks?
    I know for traveling mirrorless is a better but I don't want to compensate on quality or dynamic range also.
    your input on this will be very very helpful.

    Hi Max. Good review! Looking to upgrade my a6000. I don't really shoot that much video but I am looking to improve auto focus and viewfinder resolution. Any suggestions for upgrades? Should I consider a7 series since I already have an a6000? Some folks have suggested going to a6500 as the a6300 is already old.

    I'm probably an outlier and I recognize that, but overheating has been an issue for me. I vlog outside in [sometimes] 98*+ and the camera overheats every day within about 15-20 minutes. Like I said, I know I am probably an outlier here, but I love my a6300 and think it is a great vlogging camera.
    Also, one thing I've done is changed the button assignments on the camera to better suit my needs. I mapped the thumb dial (navigation wheel) to change the aperture, the center button to quickly change mic input levels, C1 to chage WB and C2 to turn focus peaking on (w/o focus assist zoom). It has really changed the functionality of the camera so much!
    Great video/review, Max!

    • @MaksimYuryev
      @MaksimYuryev  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks man! Sony lists that it shouldn't overheat in less than 20min at or below 104*F so if it does and its an issue, you may want to call them.

    nice video as always - thanks - got the NEX5n - NEX7 - A6000 and A6300 - but what really holds be back is Lenses - Lenses - or the lack of them for E APS-C mount - I have the 35mm F1.8 the 50mm F1.8 the 18-200mm the 30mm macro - and the 16mm f2.8 - but I have not opted to get any expensive Zeiss - and of course one can use FE glass but then the focal range is different - and yes Samsung is no more - and I am so so frustrated with Sony in regards to Touch LCD - and I am not excited about the Sony menu and lack of Fn buttons -
    I just love the Panasonic menu/Touch LCD etc - features - so my Sony's just collect dust - yes the A6300 does well in tracking focus but sometimes it does not pick up the right subject - and with no Touch LCD to pull focus on desired subject it is frustrating - for Single Auto Focus I find my M43 GX85/GX8 just as fast - and a bit better in low low light - but yes the A6300 does a bit better in low light - but only with fast glass - I get very good results with my GX85 and Leica 42.5 F1.2 - of course a $1200 lens - but no F1.2 for the A6300 at $1200 - have not played with adapters -
    So yes super nice IQ out of the A6300 with a top lens - but not ideal dials and buttons and interface not so nice and no Touch LCD - which for me spoils the fun to use it - and still no native 70-200mm F2.8 - yes many Zeiss lenses but most with no IS -
    so lens selection also very frustrating -

    Max I really need your help:-)
    I own this camera mainly for video but everytime I take some pictures and bring them into LR I wonder why the shadow-slider has so little impact on that raws. Had canon dslr's before and on that raws it has much more impact. I could easily brighten darker areas. With the a6300 raws I have to raise exposure and/or black slider to get some lights into that darker areas.
    Now I read somewhere that the camera only produces 12bit instead of 14bit Raws if you shoot at hi or hi+...could that be the reason? I shoot wildlife and does it always in hi or hi+...please let me know your experience on that!?
    Best regards Stephan

    OK first of all great review. I'm looking for a camera that has three of the following features. A) it needs to be capable of a decent amount of zoom. B) it needs to be capable of a minimum of 1080p video. and C) it needs to have a great auto focus feature and be above average to great in low light settings. you can see from my videos at night what issues I'm having and what kind of things I record. so please could you recommend something be it a bridge camera or dslr or simply a video camera. thanks. I'd like it to be $800 or less but I'd listen to higher price ranges.

    • @MaksimYuryev
      @MaksimYuryev  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's hard to get all 3. The closest thing would be this: amzn.to/2bi0fWg $1200 new and about $800 used. Shoot in 4K and then export your video to 1080P and that will help compress and clean up noise (helps in low light)

    • @MaksimYuryev
      @MaksimYuryev  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My guess is that you want to get a wide lens to see more right? Unfortunately, Sony doesn't make a wide fast lens at this time so your best bet for good low light and wide would be a Rokinon 12mm F2. amzn.to/2kMaMZr It's a manual lens but since the camera will be stationary you just set your focus to infinity at the start and then you'll have a nice view for your video. If you want a native lens then the 10-18 would be ok BUT its more $$ and an F4 so that would take you from iso 1600 at F2 say at night (not sure if that is the exact you'll need but a reference) to iso 6400 at F4 so a big change in noise, or from 3200iso at F2 to 12800 at F4. If you don't need anything that wide but want a tighter field of view then you have some more options like the Sigma 30mn 1.4 for $328 amzn.to/2kjIcln (will autofocus) Or the Sony 35mm 1.8 But keep in mind for what you're doing you'll want to set it to manual focus anyways.

    Hi Max... I mapped video record start function on button C1 and I'm pretty happy with it :-) Most cons of a6300 are not a problem for me and therefore suits me the most... Great camera :-)

      If doing just photo id go with A7. If doing just both photo & video or just video than the a6300.

    I was initially concerned about the over heating issues especially for wedding films when you tend to let the camera roll for the whole ceremony to make syncing easier. But after buying a few tentacles my issues were fixed. I didnt have to worry about stopping the camera and giving it a break while my a7s's were still rolling. Having a tentacle on each camera was a super investment for me and made the option of purchasing an a6300 very viable.

    Hi Max! Love the video! I wonder why I am geting too much grain filmming with slog2. Do you know why?

    • @MaksimYuryev
      @MaksimYuryev  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you're not going too high of an ISO (over 3200) your most likely just under exposing your image. Slog2 should be overexposed by 1-2 stops. Look into wolf crow Slog exposure video, long but worth it.

    Great review, thank you!! I'm looking to switch from my 7Dii to mirrorless. I primarily do weddings but my personal style of shooting is to turn off the camera between shoots (primarily to save battery life) and don't plan on shooting in 4K. Given my style of shooting I hoping that overheating won't be an issue?

    Thanks Max. I don't do any color grading in post on my a6300 videos. What picture profile do you recommend and profile settings for good 4K out of the camera ? Thanks again

    • @MaksimYuryev

      For little to no grading, I use Cine4 profile. In post sometimes I just boost the contrast and or saturation, but often without color grading.

    great review !! i am looking into buying a sony a6300 primarily for traveling. i know this may seem like a dumb question but i am new to photography.. with the capabilities of the smartphones (iphone 6) now a days is it worth it to spend the money on an a6300? i hope this isn't insulting. it seems our phones are equipped with a decent camera.. how would it differ using a mirrorless? i do have a desire to pick up photography as a hobby and after reading up and watching countless videos it does seem like this is a good choice of camera for me so i was curious. thank you !!

    • @MaksimYuryev
      @MaksimYuryev  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      No problem. There will be huge quality differences, especially in lowlight. Cell phone photos look ok on the small screen, but on 4K monitors or print they don't. An actual camera will give you much more control to be creative, and better quality. Editing is also a big part of it, and the files from phones can't be changed much, but you have much more flexibility shooting raw.

    Well what do you know. When I was looking for my new Mac Retina 5K, all my reviews seemed to end up with you and your review clinched the deal. Thanks! Now, I'm interested in investing in a better camera for a real estate practice and I've been leaning towards the a6300. Thanks for your review as this will be my next camera purchased in your account. My quick question is this. I need to know if I should just purchase a "kit" lens with the camera to get started. I'll be confining my use to relatively close pictures like showcasing homes, interiors, exteriors and videos in which the subject is typically 20 feet away or less. I'll shooting video with subjects at about the same distance. As soon as I figure out the best start lens, I'll purchase and learn along the way. Thanks Max! Great to see you again and look forward to your lens recommendation. Appreciate your hard, consistent and persistent work. You're amazing!

      Thanks Patrick! If you hadn't subscribed yet you should since you keep coming back to my videos ;) I'd get just the lens and then purchase a tokina 11-20mm F2.8 with a commlite adapter (EF to E) That's really a great lens for real estate, I use the older 11-16 version and sometimes I wish it was a bit longer so the new version would be great. If you want to stick with a native lens the 10-18mm F4 would also work and would take advantage of the great video AF (the tokina won't) the only downside is it's F4 so sometimes you'll have to have the ISO a bit higher than you want (noise reduction can fix this in post)

    Hi I am looking for a camera small enough for using with a steady cam like the beholder DS1 for exemple. Around 2 kg max for the whole set: camera, lens, DEC LensRegain or metabones and the glidecam. Not more than 2 kg because when I travel it can be too much boring if it is too heavy. I want to use a steadycam so I look for a camera as the Sony 6300. A camera can focus by itself because with the steadycam it is difficult To focus. I was thinking about the Gx80, GH4 but it seems those cameras haven't got good AF in video. The LCD of the A6300 seems not good and for video it can be a problem what's more it seems there's no touch screen . I would like to have your point of view. Could you help me to choose? I would like to do timelaps too. I can show you video I make in private for travel. With a Nikon D5100. Too much difficult for the focus even in manual. The Samsung Nx1 seemed perfect (a little to heavy) but we cannot find it anymore.

      There aren't a lot of options, I own the 20mm F2.8 which is ok amzn.to/2nDSLlJ and just bought the 10-18mm F4 amzn.to/2n76OyE . If you don't mind manual focus the Rokinon 12mm F2 is very nice for the money amzn.to/2n1r7Mo

    Hey mate! Hope you're well! I need some help...
    I am looking at either the Sony A6300 or the Canon M50. it will be my first camera and i will be using it for a mixture of purposes
    1) Sporting events as well as playing sport,
    2) Interviews (Sporting events and interviews are key!)
    3) Vlogging/recording youtube footage indoor
    4) Family/social events and also taking pictures however priority will be video with photos being secondary.
    I have managed to come across the A6300 with the kit lens for $1090 AUD and the Canon M50 with the kit lens for $699 AUD. (offer for a short time only).
    My initial worry and still is the heating of the Sony cameras, we're not able to refund the item here in AUS as we don't have the 30 day return/exchange as some stores in the US do as ive been told and heard about. So buying one is crucial. Given all that data mate and your personal experiences which should i go and which would you go personally?
    4K at times would be nice but not needed i don't think... either all both 4K is terrible given the timing limit on Sony and the crop on Canon.
    Is the A6300 worth the extra 400 dollars? taking into account the need for accessories and an SD card!
    Any help is greatly appreciated mate! Look forward to hearing back from you shortly.
