These are my two laptops I just cannot decide between. Logically as a photographer the Dell makes more sense, even though it won't be my main editing machine. Yet the 3:2 of the surface, plus it's wonderful build (and alcantara!) makes me want that, plus it'll be easier to maintain my websites with it on that aspect ratio. Decisions decisions

Wonderful Review. On point. I made a mistake by buying Macbook Pro 13 baseline model for Graphic Designing. I should have gone with Dell instead. Worst Purchase decision ever taken.
I'm thinking about getting the 14" when it comes out, or a 13" refresh, depending on price. Mainly for UI design and software development. So would love to hear some reasons behind your statement if you don't mind.

I use photoshop, illustrator and after effects for Graphic Designing and use laptop for general use like movies and spotify. Problems: Cant render videos in photoshop because it hangs. Can't save high res image for web. Starts heating with basic photoshop use and it gets terrible if charging is going on. It heats like a frying pan, cant place hand on laptop. Battery drains quickly after heavy software use. Not a very fast and reliable laptop. It super lags when working on a printing file. Chrome use could take a lot of Ram leaving nothing for photoshop and other apps. Throttles just when you start using 2 softwares together. Apple is not really a great service provider. @@Nick_in_the_6ix Interesting. This is the first time I've heard someone having such a bad time with the 13" 😅. Have you tried bringing it to the apple store for a check-up? I've been using budget windows laptops all my life, so this is going the be my first ever big upgrade. I'll be taking a course in computer science soon so having a good laptop is vital. I also do UI designing on the side so having an accurate screen is important. I mainly use Adobe XD, Sublime Text, Visual Studio Code, Android Studio and Firefox Dev edition. I almost pulled the trigger on the base 13" MacBook last month, but heard a 14" was coming so I waited. From what you're saying, I guess it's more of a MacOS issue than an issue with the hardware itself. Hope apple fixes it in the next version of MacOS. Anyway, thanks for the explanation. I currently own the new DELL XPS 9300 with a 4k touchscreen. I am currently getting max 4.5 hours with the battery. I wish they put a larger battery in it!

I was planning to buy a surface laptop 3 but I’m having some doubts since I heard some stuff about the screen cracking spontaneously after a couple of days
After owning and returning one I also had some issues. A crunching noise when I closed the screen and a constant buzzing noise from the power plug input port. Swapping it for another laptop. Mine was a black metal which also has the reported cracking screen.
You completely skipped talking about all the issues about Dell XPS 13 commonly mentioned in other review videos ... why do I suspect this video is sponsored by Dell ?
Thanks for the review. I got the Surface Laptop 3 earlier this week and had to return it because it kept getting a BSOD with the latest Windows update. So I am trying to figure out the best alternative to try out next. How are the Dell XPS laptops for reliability?
Matt IJzz yeah I couldn’t make myself buy a Dell with their common quality issues. I ended up waiting a bit and bought myself an Asus ROG Zephyrus G14. That thing is a powerful light beast and 10 hours battery life.
Depends on your coursework. Windows is going to be an all-rounder coz of printer compatibility. I am in trouble as I have an MB Air but I need to run a certain program via usb which only runs on windows & virtualisation is not gonna cut it. Other softwares are also better optimised for windows like OBS studio etc.
XPS 13 2020 vs XPS 13 2in1 2019 Please!!!1 They are basically the same laptop, cost almost the same, the 2in1 can be configured with 32GB of ram(while costing around $50 more than the comparable 2020 model with 16gb of ram) and has a touchscreen. I would love to know if there's something that makes the 2020 worth it over the 2in1.
The keyboard is different; the 2 in 1 uses maglev keyboard that has quite low travel (kinda like macbook amounts of travel) whereas the xps 13 9300 uses the tried and tested normal keyboard

Glad I could help! Surface is definitely not horrible, it's a solid laptop!

I know the dell xps has the better specs but I just don't like the design, same goes for the hp spectre.... is it reasonable to buy a laptop mainly because of the design? I just love the look of the SL3
Picked up the Laptop 3 on sale for 825€ here in Spain, with the i5-1035G7. For that price, I could not resist, the Dell was 700€ more LOL with the i5-1035G1. I use the Laptop 3 for programming since I study Software Engineering, and is soo confortable. However, both laptops are incredibles.
Thanks for helping me make the decision on which to buy :)
Love the Matt screen on the Dell
Dragos Pahontu the matthew screen
I don't see that option on Dell.
BE AWARE: I just noticed that the XPS 13 -2020 will go ON/OFF when you change the settings of windows HD Color display. Try plug and unplugged the computer and check what it does. Is this normal in computers? Does anyone experienced the same problem? I called Dell and they didn't know about this problem. Literally … live with it. $$$$$$
Estaba esperando este video, gracias!
De Nada!!
Maybe a bit early but what is the reliability for each of these machines? Great review by the way.
Wrong graph to choose when showing performance comparison, show it more accurately with a 1 on 1 side by side comparison
Does the Dell Xps have a good webcam? In your opinion. I’ve heard people have mixed feelings about it. What do you think?
i don't know how everyone is praising Dell XPS. I can only get 45min to 1 hour of usage from my dell XPS 15 1080p 2018 version with HDD. when it was new I used to get 3 hours max. I want a newer dell XPS but its so freaking expensive, £1800. anyone had a problem with the dell xps battery?
dell xps 13 vs Hp Spectre x360 late 2019 vs dell xps 2 in 1. Great video by the way.
What did you decide on I'm torn right now
@@marcp8953 neither, coronavirus happened and ruined my chances of needing a laptop. I think I would have gone for the Dell
Can you compare Dell xps (2020) with Asus Zenbook (2020)
Or make a Video where you compare the xps with alternatives
Thank you :)
Perfect video. Well done.
Thanks man
Hi Matt, please review the Acer Swift 3 2020 3:2 version thanks!😉
Hi, really liked the comparison. I am planning to buy dell xps 13 - intel i5 10210u, 8 GB - 2133 Mhz. Do you think this will be a good buy over surface laptop 3? The version you reviewed is a bit different I guess.
@@JoshuaChew My configuration is as follows: 8gb ram, 1.4 ghz, intel i5, 256ssd. I have a 2019 model. Hope yours work fine.
Really appreciate the insight. :)
I am curious if there is any way in which Windows performs better on the Surface Laptop, since the machine was made by the creator of Windows.
I currently own the new DELL XPS 9300 with a 4k touchscreen. I am currently getting max 4.5 hours with the battery. I wish they put a larger battery in it!
Dell has introduced FHD Touch version this year (Not only UHD touch). FHD has two versions now: touch and non-touch, plus UHD touch.
Thanks for the review for battery. Any thought on how battery handles FHD Touch version compared to FHD Non-touch version?
I sent mine back because of loose trackpad. There are numerous problems with the xps 13 and xps 15.
Matt IJzz yeah I couldn’t make myself buy a Dell with their common quality issues. I ended up waiting a bit and bought myself an Asus ROG Zephyrus G14. That thing is a powerful light beast and 10 hours battery life.
Enjoyed the review. I'll subscribe
What about surface laptop 13.5 vs 15, one is intel the other Ryzen what’s the difference? And does this change how good it is?
I would love a comparison with the MBP13; I’m going to be a student soon-ish and want to know what could be better for me.
The Study Channel you don’t need a virtual machine to get Windows on MacBook. Just use Bootcamp
Dell and Lenovo are the best Windows laptops period
XPS 13 2020 vs XPS 13 2in1 2019
Please!!!1
They are basically the same laptop, cost almost the same, the 2in1 can be configured with 32GB of ram(while costing around $50 more than the comparable 2020 model with 16gb of ram) and has a touchscreen.
How does the xps 13 compare against the swift 5 based on light gaming? greetings from singapore!
Good review. Comparing fan noise and coil whine would have been interesting.
I show the results of fan noise and vhoil wine in my full review for the dell XPS 13. Link is in the description
I Don't agree, I feel that you are biased towards the dell. (for example, showing the sound output, and saying nothing about it)
And the dell xps screen does NOT DESTROYS the Surface Laptop's screen. It is better, but not THAT much
I’m one of those 3 guys lol XPS 13 2019+Razer core Chroma w/ 1070
@I'm not a normal I haven't used a surface so I cant say
Do you recommend this years xps or older version of this if you have to?
If you want a 13inch xps this new one is the way to go, however it doesnt really matter for the15inch model
Galaxy Wolfv I was just wondering cuz it costs a fortune to buy this beautiful machine.. and I was wondering whether I should wait but as time goes by new machines will come out and with better specs and it just hard to decide having so many good laptops in the market
@@yashmisra8278 ye I have to get a laptop as well but idk which one. Max amount i want to pay €1200. Need to have good performance, good batterylife, good touchpad, good keyboard, metal build, slick design, lightweight and the xps 13 checks all my boxes but I will wait for them to discount these laptops. Just like they always do.
I can get the i5 model with 512gb and sadly 8gb ram for €1300
The older xps 13 7390 i can purchase for only €1200 with i7 10510u, 512gb and 16gb ram
Or the dell xps 15 7590 for less than €1100 with an i7 9750H 8gbram(upgradeable) 256gb ssd(also upgradeable but sadly the battery is only 56watthour
Galaxy Wolfv yup same here that’s what I was thinking
Thid year
Which one is the best in every aspect ?
i confused but i really need one a.s.a.p , i need the best one :(
1. Asus Zenbook S13 UX392FN
2. Dell XPS 13 9300 (2020)
2. Lenovo X1 Carbon Gen 8 (2020)
I have the Gen 6 X1 Carbon, it's AWESOME!
Let’s review & compare 2020 dell Inspiron series also.
As many peoples buy those mid range laptops for daily use.
Wholesome complete review. Always appreciated. XPS incoming
Where did you have your cover to change the color on the laptop (marble effect)? why not a video to show how you did?
Great Work 😁
I don't understand how you can think that these laptops actually get 15 hours Matt, do you really think they get 15 hours under normal use?
I'm interested in the XPS 13 but everyone complains about the trackpad problems can you hook up just the regular Mouse is it worth it opinions appreciated
hate the trend to reduce usb ports on laptops.
for WIFI speed, i suggest you to open device manager and go to wireless card settings and change the power saving mode, had that with older XPS 13 model , i think it's a power saving feature , can you test the speed and update pls ?
Acer predator helios 300 vs Msi GF65. Please compare these. (budget laptop king)
Please like guys if you want this comparison.
your recomendations for video editing laptop in 1000 USD ?
is the Dell XPS Matte screen a screen protector or an actual matte screen ? And is this the New 2020 model?
I hope Dell brings the same 16:10 display to the Dell XPS 15
I think they will and if they do that will be awesome. There's no ultra performance 15 inch laptops that have it right now minus the MacBook Pro 16
@@MatthewMoniz I also think they will but I also think it wont be available with AMDs new processors which is a dealbreaker for me since Intel is still on 14nm+++++++++
Dell XPS 13 for me due to there being a Ububtu version :> though I am also looking into a Lenovo Thinkpad P series since they also now come with Ubuntu if requested.
You can install linux on any device you want. It's open source
Currently using a 2017 Macbook Pro (I really hate it). I really want to go for one of these but compared to what I have now, the trackpad on the Xps looks tiny.
He’s afraid to say which laptop he likes more because if he says ones better than the other, the companies stop sending him laptops to review
Looking for a new 13-inch laptop: Macbook Pro 13" base model vs Dell XPS 9300 vs Upcoming Macbook Pro 14"??? Want a good laptop for light video editing and usual web browsing
if you ad a razor x chroma to the Dell XPS 13 930 do you think it could work to game with ore is this just possible with a laptop which already is heard to gaming like the razor stealth 13? thanks Matthew
finally more and more KOLs noticed the dimming problem, it should push big companies like samsung enable DC dimming on OLED phones.
Is the marble finish on the top something you've done yourself or is it available in the original color variant?
realistically nobody uses thunderbolt 3... since all the assessories and perifials are ridiculously expensive, and the performance degradation of using an egpu plus an expensive enclosure
What's your opinion on the Surface Pro X? Worth it?
Why is DELL's customer support so super crappy? I mean, the worst ever, I've been trying to ask them some info about xps 9300 since 2 days and still don't know anything, wasted time, they disconnect from chats before answering any questions, etc. drama
Can we get a xps 13inch i5 vs surface laptop 15inch Ryzen 5? Prices similar in the U.K. at least.
any info about the case? Look absolutely stunning

I wanted to but xps 13 2018.. but it wasn’t available. Instead I bought Asus Vivobook Pro. Was that a good decision?
I heard the xps line has issues with eGPUs, which one are you using and did you have any problems with it at all?
Maybe last year's model bit this one has been solid most likely due to ice lake. I was using a GTX 1070 in a akito node
Is Dell XPS good for programming and editing video and pics?
Of course
