  • Join us at the Malvern Classic Car Show held at the Three Counties Showground in September 2023, in this Old Classic Car "show walkaround" video.
    I had last visited the Malvern classic car show in October '22 and was keen to re-visit it in 2023, especially as the weather forecast was looking great in the days leading up to this year's event. Once again our trusty MX5 Mk1 was pressed into service and this time I was accompanied by my youthful assistant who recorded footage for his own channel, as well as walked around with me and offered his opinions on some of the classic cars, motorcycles and vans we saw. We also ambled over to the autojumble area on more than one occasion throughout the day, and needless to say £ was spent.
    As I'd hoped would happen, a great many of the vintage and classic cars we saw at the Malvern show were new to us, and in this video I feature as many of the cars as possible, prioritising as always the older cars while trying to include a bit of everything to give a broad overview of this popular classic car show, held in the shadow of the Malvern hills in Worcestershire.
    Let me know in the comments which of the old cars featured would be your choice. Did I miss anything? Did you have a car or other vehicle on display? Perhaps you were in the autojumble selling old-car parts?
    Likes, comments and subs welcomed as always, I'll include a link to last year's Malvern classic car show at the end of this one. It was really neat to say hello to quite a few followers of the Old Classic Car channel too.
    Don't forget that channel membership is available, as is merchandise relating to OCC and classic cars in general.

    My step-father had a Marquette tourer here in Australia many years ago. The Marquette was built in 1929/1930 as a companion car to the Buick, just as the La Salle was a companion car to the Cadillac. The Marquette had a side valve engine while the equivalent Buick had an overhead valve engine.

All the Aussie Minis had quarterlight windows and outside hinges were still on them when the UK went to internal ones. Marquette was introduced as a "junior" Buick and used Buick 6 mechanicals.     It's incredible to me how uncooth these people are. What is a `classic car ? To mean anything we need a definition. One is provided by the Classic Car Club of America. By their definition, few of these qualify. Most of these cars are cheap junk;

    • @oldclassiccarUK
      @oldclassiccarUK  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Uncouth!?!?? That's a bit strong (note correct spelling). The definition you refer to is the definition of just one club (in the CCCA case 1915-1948), any club can cater for any era or type of vehicle they want, so I'm not sure that one club's definition means anything beyond the boundaries of that club. Anyway, glad you enjoyed the video.

    • @johndunbar7504
      @johndunbar7504 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      My point was that it's a definition. So if these cars don't fit in there. Where do they fit ? Let me suggest. For the people in this video, a classic car is whatever they like. In these cases, it's a cheap, ugly, poorly made and designed piece of garbage.@@oldclassiccarUK

    Hello, I am seeking some assistance. I've been curious for years about an old photo of one of my grandads old cars. After viewing many, many of your posts (Very enjoyable, thank you.) I suddenly had a thought. You seem to have access to some source of register with regard to identifying vehicles through the reg. number. After several, naive, ignorant, basic atttempts at identifying the area, year, model of the car, Sunbeam Rapier reg. No. 118 MTJ, I was watching one of your posts and you were naming some really obscure cars, areas of registration and areas relevant to the reg. No. from even the early 1900's. Hitherto, I would very much appreciate if you could inform me the details of my grandads car. Thank you in advance.

    • @oldclassiccarUK
      @oldclassiccarUK  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi, assuming that registration was original to the car, and not a replacement, it would suggest a registration date of early 1960, Lancashire area I believe.

    • @jameswalkden7499
      @jameswalkden7499 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you for your speedy and couteous reply. I shall soon find myself in a position to purchase a classic car. My hope was to obtain the same model as my grandad. The Rapier was the first car of his I have any memory of in, circa, 1967/8. My problem is I know it was either a mk 111 or a mk111A. Unfortunately thar is as far as I can find out as, aesthetically, they were identical, however, there were quite a few changes mechanically. Ideally, I would like the exact same model, there lies the rub. D.V.L.A., for some reason, have no record on file of the vehicle which seems strange as they have many records of cars much older. Is there such a thing as a Rootes group register of cars for instance ? Thank you once again. Kind regards.

      @@jameswalkden7499 If the car was scrapped years ago, it will have dropped off DVLA. If it was scrapped before DVLA was set up in the early 1980s, it'll never have been on their system. Chances are it was scrapped a long time ago as they rusted badly. There is a Rootes Group archive of old documents but I don't know if this extends to registration records. Good Rapiers are few and far between now so you'll probably need to buy on condition rather than being an exact match for your search.
