Georgia has lost everything. The young girl watched her family home burn down in the countryside, killing her family inside of it. And now she wants to destroy the dragon that killed them.
Resourceful, brave and strong, she tracks the creature down to its lair. But when she ventures within, she discovers something she did not expect, one that makes her question the very heart of her mission. Now she must decide whether to let go of her desire for revenge or embrace the new possibilities she discovers.
Directed and written by Sparky Tehnsuko, this thrilling short fantasy drama stars LAST OF US star Bella Ramsey as a courageous, plucky young girl whose own inner fire pushes her to pursue a dangerous mission, one whose dark emotional intensity might burn her in its accomplishment. Told with little to no dialogue, the storytelling pulls viewers into a detailed and specific world that's both impressive and immersive, weaving in an emotional arc around the choice between revenge and benevolence.
Part of the short's spell-binding quality is its evocation of a medieval fantasy world, from a decimated rural home devastated by dragon fire at night to that dragon's ominously dark lair to the creature itself, brought to life by remarkable visual and practical effects. Shot with impressively rich cinematography, it all works in service of a world of magic and fantasy, which we're taken through via Georgia's emotional journey, conveyed through steady storytelling and an evocative performance by Bella Ramsey.
Many viewers will know Ramsey from her iconic roles in THE LAST OF US and GAME OF THRONES, and her role as Georgia is in a continuum with these no-nonsense, tough young heroines. Yet Georgia is also immersed in deep grief from losing her family, an emotion that endows her with both raw vulnerability and intense volatility. When she pursues the dragon to its cave, she's driven by ferocious anger. But when she discovers a surprise in the darkness, she discovers an unexpected tenderness and joy within herself. There's a feeling of something being recovered within Georgia, like the childhood that was tragically cut short for her.
Of course, the film has been building up to Georgia's confrontation with the dragon, and in that respect, VILLAIN does not disappoint, with an remarkable reveal of the creature itself. What Georgia chooses to do is both logical, true to her character, and yet still heartbreaking -- the choice of someone who has had everything taken from them, and still has that trauma deeply embedded within her. It ends on the film on a pensive note, asking questions of what is a monster and how they are made. - ภาพยนตร์และแอนิเมชัน
Bella on omeleto was not on my bingo card today but blessings are usually unexpected
Her face is weird but somehow fits for this type of role
She was on another video on this channel before she got really famous
@@cloud86 oh word I had no idea
She has a fair few short movies under her belt, at least two on Omeleto.
So if I had to guess, Bella's family was killed by a dragon, she went to get revenge, and met the girl with scales. The scales indicate she's either some kind of weredragon underneath the skin, or that dragonfire imparts a curse that turns its victims into dragons. By killing the dragon, Bella orphans the little girl who'd been raised by it, therefor making herself just as bad as the thing she sought to kill. By the end she decides to come full circle, and either burn away her humanity on a pyre, or invoke the magic of the ring to become a dragon herself.
That is the moral of the story
Looks to me like that poor dragon was the little girl's protector and friend. Villain indeed.
yet more reason the dragon shouldn't have destroyed the home
One person's villain is another person's savior
@@qinelenleawatanabe2162 Well, the savior destroyed Bella's home and family.
@@brandonflorida1092 Lot of "deep wells" you haven't mentioned in posting about the short.....
...Yes the dragon did the"Dragon Dance of Doom" in the village
....yet there is also huge room for hypothesis, such as the child was infected with "scales" suggesting the dragon was the child's mother, father, older sibling, or even an older friend. Thus the villain becomes the perpetrator who killed the only person the child knew.......and making "Bella from the Village" a villian
This hypothesis is further substantiated by the scales Bella incurred in the end of the short on her face.
So I stand behind my statement and suggest keeping an open mind to what is not always black and white

"and making "Bella from the Village" a villian"
If I understand you correctly, I'd have to say that if someone murders your family and you kill them in revenge, you are not a villain.
She is such a good actress.
This short proves beyond any doubt how amazing an actress Bella Ramsey is. A piece with literally no dialogue, only emotional expression and she nailed it well. From Game of Thrones through The Last of Us and shorts like these, it is clear how versatile her acting talents are.
This short is what Damsel wishes it was
I think the girls mom is the dragon because her mom killed somebody and the girl is becoming one because she has killed someone trying to kill Her mom and then Bella killed her mom making her a dragon. I think..
was not expecting this
This was the fastest dragon kill ever 😅
Like BAM!! the dragon went down and never got up 😀
I saw this film at Djanho, a Brazilian festival. Excellent, I cried a lot 😅. Ten very intense minutes.
Its nice to see Ellie again
I didn’t get it😢
I didn’t either. Maybe someone can explain for us?
the dragon killed this girl’s family
she went to kill the dragon
found a child who apparently lived with the dragon?
And when she killed the dragon, the child cried, because I sort of thought the dragon was the little one’s parent ?and at the end, it looked like she was turning into a dragon herself.
Yeah when we saw that opening scene, "dragonfire!" thought absolutely none of us.
Maybe the thought of this short is that when you kill someone (dragon) out of revenge you are no better than them (dragon) and turn into them (dragon)?
At first, I thought that she burned her home down.
@@kayesguineapigs but no clue about the deadman's ring and the "gleamy-scale". too many visual links to GoT.
Bella finna be cooking on this movie
What the hell does finna mean
Better than the whole 8th season
Bro I was searching for this short film for such a long time 😭
Woah
Pretty cool. Never really expect people from popular shows/movies.
Omeleto have quite a few! Have a look at their channel, I think there's a playlist where they have their claim-to-fame Shorts with famous actors like mary elizabeth winstead and amanda seyfried!
They even have another of Bella!
How does the becoming a dragon work, like is it a virus?
if you don’t get it, it’s probably not for you
simple as that lol
It is different seeing Bella playing this role. Okay.
“Wake up woman, you’re not a princess, you’re a dragon” but like literally
Kaitlyn Dever Should Love This.
My take on this was that it was a very simple, basic plot with an interesting twist. Not a lot of expense put into it. Sort of like an inspired piece in film school. To turn those into pluses for a short film showed the talent of the director. The two actors turned this into a remarkable piece. As if it was all simply a setting to show the talents of these two gems. I hope this crew works together again and gets to showcase other amazing talent.
I’m totally in the dark on this one. But it looks pretty cool. Thanks.😁👍
I’m told people figure things out with repeated viewings… 😉
The North remembers.
🔥🔥🔥
I watched this last year why is it released under new Title a few hours ago?
Feels like the is an intended project from Bella to show real emotions for a revenge story which is something TLOU season 2 will be based on.
Oh wait, this isn’t a new project right?
@@fgrimes1946Not quite; though this was only released in festivals last year, we shot it all the way back in 2020!
Happy Birthday sweet boy. You are such an inspiration to us all. Love your sweet smiles that light up your face. ❤❤❤
I love this film. Amazing!
i need this explained to me
Why is she covered in scales twards the end? I don't get it.
She got infected with the Dragon Virus, this whole video was about COVID, somehow 😂
i’m pretty sure it’s a metaphor for darkness or trauma consuming people
@@acemynameNailed it
Lyanna Mormont said, "F**k your dragon!"
😩😢
this was amazing
Ela é tão linda
Good atmosphere but does anybody get the story? I dont.
É um filme
OMFG❤🎉
I don't watch tv shows so I have no clue who Bella Ramsey is, but I adored her acting presence on this project. The concisely-structured story, the lush production and the restrained directing- style are pure Art here. Many thanks to those who helped create this little gem.
but what this concisely-structured story is about? why both of the girls have gleamy wounds? who is the younger girl? I did not get it at all.
Say what? You’re missing some excellent programs. Oh there’s tons of crap, for sure. I would suggest The Last of Us for starters. There’s also Dark Winds and From. Anyway, that should whet your appetite. Enjoy.😁👍
@@vlpiananibumbum7220I’ll give you a clue: those aren’t wounds, they’re scales. Also, thanks for the kind words, Sean!
Unexpected blessings. I'll take it
Gorgeously directed short, Bella Ramsey and Isla Gie are excellent
"Lady of Bear Island kills a dragon"
Thanks for the encore!
Huh?????????🤨
Well done Bella. Brilliant as always 🎉
amazing acting as always bella. you are incredible
ha ha, bella .. Nice :]
The villainous Jabberwocky is challenged by the ring-bearer of the Lord of the Rings. The One Ring to Rule Them All kills the dragon. Ancient story. New interpretation.
OK, if by killing a dragon out of revenge you become a dragon yourself, how do you respond to the loss of everything and everyone you had? If no one gets punished for hurting others there will be nothing to stop anyone from doing evil things.
Maybe that is the punishment, dragons are symbolic of greed and self interest, maybe all it takes to break the cycle is for someone to rebuild their home, rather than slay dragon? I'm feeling almost more metaphorically???
@@emerrlysYour lack of life's bad experiences is obvious.
@@tobe-you-tube6612 that is interesting that you take that from it, I will try not to let your comment upset me. But damn sorry i pissed u off bro
@@emerrlys I am not pissed off. You're just naive. Or you try to appear as naive.

amazing film!
Bella Ramsey Reminds Me Of A Video Game Character From The Last Of Us Part 2 Name Ellie & The Actress Girl Of All Time & In The Whole Wide World The One & The Only Kaitlyn Dever.
Do the actors get the maney from the youtube revenue?
Guys let's be for real.... this is underwhelming
...when HBO doesn't back your dragon🙄
🙌🙌🙌 love this
The "ft. Bella Ramsey" in the video title feels a bit cheap and attention-grabbing, since you never put the lead actor's name in the title. What's even stranger is that it's not necessary: the thumbnail is Ramsey's face!
Most shorts I've seen featuring a well known actor all have it in the title. As well as thumbnail. It seems attention-seeking because it is. Every title and every thumbnail on youtube is to get your attention.
This isn't the critique this video brought to my mind.
Mate they literally do this every single time, you must be new here
Putting her name in the title is good for helping users find this video via searches.
They often put the actor's name in the title when it's a well-known actor
This was almost as terrible as her acting
What in your opinion makes her acting terrible?
Look everyone, we have an acting expert in our midst! Bless his or her little heart!
@@MisterG2323I didn't see this comment added to posts praising her acting. I guess those people are actual experts.
@@BDnevernind Thisssss. Why is it only when some one gets their pearl's in a twizzle about an opinion does the other have to be an 'expert'?? But if you were to agree you could be anyone???
The good thing is it was short
No idea what audience this was made for, but it's not me. Boo !! :(
Yeah, it's a weird episode.
Terrible storyline!
What's this crap?
Kristen Stewart has more range of emotions than this girl.
She was and still is wrong for The Last Of Us
