A Tip. The long candle wicks that you cut off can also be used for future candles. Attach one end of the half wick to a metal paper clip. Just slide the end between the inner and outer curve of the paper clip. Voila, you have base for the wick. Use just as you did the new ones clamped in a metal base!!!
Bethany, your candles look so great! Back when I used to make a lot of candles and soaps, I had all dedicated pots, bowls, cups, and mixers. I stored them all in two separate lidded, plastic totes. Not everyone does that, I learned by experience. One holiday season, I attended a Christmas open house and there were some goodies that tasted super perfume-y. A lot of us were kind of baffled and just politely avoided those goodies. It was later rumored that our crafty hostess had used some of her kitchen equipment to make her candles and had later used some of that same equipment to make the treats. I believe the connection was made when the Christmas candle gifts from her later smelled the same way those cookies tasted. 😂😂😂 Y’all don’t poison your family or guests! 😬😎
For the "syrup" on the ice cream, maybe freeze the candle first, so when the hot wax hits the frozen wax, it freezes in place, like a drip cake. Or possibly let the hot wax set up just a bit so it's thicker.
Glad you credited Kelly Barlow. I have been a subscriber to both of your channels for awhile. 🙂 She needs tons of extra support right now, so I'm sure she appreciates the extra love! ❤️
Im gonna make a few of these candles, I'm much older and I love to see young gals doing any kind of crafts, shes doing a great job and they are super cute. And I'm gonna check out Kelly Barlow.
My mom used to make candles when I was a kid. She mixed Ivory Snow detergent with the wax to come up with pure white “snow “. Then she dipped her ball shaped molded candles to create a snowball look and topped them with wax holly berries and leaves
I love making the faux foods, but this is an even better option. Because they can be used as candles/melts as well. Perfect for gift giving 💕 Thanks for the inspiration and for sharing 🤗 xo
I always made candles as gifts. I would buy candles at yard sales and the dollar, store and the way I would melt them is on the stove in a sauce pan with boiling water. Worked pretty good for me.
A pro tip.. please make sure you are using the right size wick. You can’t use one wick for a candle vessels. You can drown your wax and it won’t melt or you can heat up your vessel way too much and can potential burst your vessel. And some vessels need more than one wick depending on the size of the vessel you are using. For example, the glass mugs from dollar tree requires two wicks to burn evenly.
Yep.. lots of test burns! Wick will make or break your candle. I've had to double wick anything at 3 inches across. Otherwise melt pool doesn't reach the edges... I use Hemp wicks.
@@taylornation320 I make candles with wax decor on top, you just have to know the wax and wick you are using to know if it will handle embeds. As long as you wick properly adding embeds isn’t an issue.
Wow, what a great idea to source the wax from dollar tree pillar candles. Wax can be sooo expensive to buy at a craft store! I think I'm going to melt down some of the candles I already have that are boring and make cute candles with them. Thanks for the inspiration.
So awesome Bethany tyvm! Everyone and anyone that knows or doesn’t know for that matter please go over and give Kelly some love she needs as much support as possible right now she is going through some pretty tough things right now tya Bethany your the best!
I did this recently and made candles out of vintage tea cup a saucers so cute and I sell them all day at the artisan local market for 15 dollars each. I even added a tea bag string and tag hanging from the tea cup. I am trying to make lemon wedges to put on the tea also, sugar cubes whatever to jazz it up
I never thought about using the oven to melt the wax! I was actually just attempting making wax molds with the Dollar Tree pillar candles. I had those jars in a boiling pot of water for forever and could never get them to melt all the way. Thanks for the tip!!
I love all of these! I didn't know how they got that wax to look like whip cream or ice cream. I learn something new here on TH-cam every day. If I had to pick a favorite it would be the candle made to look like a bowl of milk. But really I loved all of them. Awesome job Bethany! I love how you are always so great and giving credit where credit is due! Thanks for sharing! Can't wait to see what your next video will be of!! 😃♥️🧁
I can literally here the excitement in your voice with this diy! Does anyone else sense an Etsy shop with these custom candles for every holiday/occasion coming in Bethany's near future?! 🥰 Xo, Mandy
For a darker brown wax, use black and brown alcohol inks. Drip the colors in and stir the melted wax until you get what you think it will be close to when hardened. The alcohol will burn off in the hot wax and shouldn't affect the aroma of your finished candle. Good luck, fellow crafters!😄
Kelly does a great job with everything. Your candles are adorable!! TFS! Keep Kelly in your prayers. Her son was diagnosed with cancer. She has a video about it.
Happy Monday beautiful talented creative Bethany! Your so creative with your DYI. I love the ginger bread bowl candle! Beautiful cupcakes! Love them all thank you for sharing this inspirational DYI have a blessed week.
Oh Bethany you are so creative and artistic. I love the cupcakes and the mugs. They would make great gifts. Great shout out to Kelly. She is really dealing with some tough times right now. Sending her prayers
While I’m watching this video with wax and molds you could also do this with crayons, melt down crayons in the molds and make Christmas crayons and gift them as stocking stuffers or gift them to kids in your family!
This was great! You were informative and I honestly love that you don’t edit out the small blips like how the first hot cocoa wasn’t the right color or when you started whisking your wax too early. I’ve never done anything like this so it’s just as helpful knowing what to avoid and look out for instead of having textbook perfect tutorials where everything turns out flawless on the first go. Plus, you’re like a REAL PERSON and not just a manufactured content farm. Subscribed!
You've done a very good job of creating new candles from Dollar Tree candles. I used to make candles with paraffin and use crayons to color the wax. These days there are so many things that can be made to go along with candles that they're really fun to make.
Hey Bethany.... These are Great but for those using the wicks from the DT tall candles the cup candles require an extra wick. Using the wick from the tall candle is fine but it's Only made to melt the small circumference of that jar. ... Which is about an Inch or so. Once you put it say in the coffee mug, it's now a much wider size ( about 3, 1/2") so you'll need to Add another wick about an inch apart from each other, Centered. If you want to make 1 in a bowl you'll need at least 3... Those you'll want to center in a Triangle form 1 top center ( not close to the outer wall) then 1 under off to the right, the 3rd off to the left just like a Triangle centered and an inch Apart. You'll find your candles will burn much more evenly and without tunneling. Remember Each wick is only made to burn a specific size circle. Lastly be careful how much icing & Embeds you Add .... Especially if you now have the correct amount of wicks (2/3) your candles can overflow out of your mug just watch the level of your main wax. Hope you find this Helpful!!!! Your candles are Amazing..... Youre already ahead of the game making candles & the whipped wax. I love Nikki too.. I learned how to make my whipped from her. Happy Candle Creating...😍💯👏
I have been seeing this trend a lot recently and I really want to make my mother-in-law some wax melts for either Christmas or her birthday. She is absolutely obsessed with wax melts, like me, but I don't use store bought melts anymore. I order from a family owned business from the state that I live in. I'm definitely going to buy some unscented candles from DT and some silicone molds! I have essential, and fragrance oils, because I send handmade scented cuticle oils/hand sanitizers with my custom press ons, so I'll be able to make her some custom scented melts. Thank you for this!
For the cupcakes, if you wanna make them into a candle, you could use the wick as a cherry stem and run the wick through like u did with the ice cream scoops. These were all so adorable
A dollar store box of crayons can be used to add any color to wax. Just make sure to remove the paper and mix while still hot. You can spray the mixing bowl with your favorite perfume then let any liquid evaporate before adding wax. Crayon shavings or tidbits can also be added without mixing for a cool rainbow look. So many possibilities 😊
Hi little one! I use eye shadows or crayons 🖍 to dye the scented waxed that I sell. Also to make more whippy the wax you can add a little bit of baby oil it will take a little more time to harden. Cheers from Mexico 🇲🇽 😘
Shout out to Kelly because that is the best way I've used, and only way now, to melt the candles! Her cereal candle has been my favorite since I first saw it and was gonna mention it, but of course you showed it😉You did a great job and agree on faves, if...you include the ice cream too🤣Tyfs❤🙏🏾
