Just to share i make 15 bean soup with ham flavoring and i also make mexican corn brean in my iron skellet. Then when done i cut a wedge of mexican corn bread and pour the 15 bean soup over it. Absolutely the most comfort food on a winters day. And you have veg, carb , fiber , protein and the tomatoe which is consider a fruit.

Yes it's been very cold 🥶 here in SC too! Down in the 20s! Blurrr! We have a fireplace and we use it a lot in da winter time. It seems like Dec-March (dec,Jan ,Feb thru March) is our coldest months. I can't wait until it gets warmer. I don't do wintery months. My body aches n I get sick.
Mrs Karen if you wanted to still buy the can tomato 🍅 paste, do so & just freeze it. Yes freeze it...I was like what?! U can freeze it n it still be good and flavorful. Yes!
you can take a small air tight container or small ziploc bag and spoon out all outta da can and then u can get a in mins by getting a cup of hot water, add the bag or container to the hot water so it will thaw out a little bit. Separate what u don't want to use. U can also take it out frozen n it will thaw as ur cooking. It will scoop right out. It doesn't fully freeze. I was blown away by that too.
I saw the tip/hack on a TH-cam or Facebook video. I was impressed by her tips & hacks. I remember who she was or I would refer you to her page. I'll find it again. Its SunShine something. Yummy soup recipe 😋! I will have to give it a try!

Yes, tomato paste does freeze well. I've put it in zip top bags and roll into a log and just cut off what I need. So easy. Great tip. ❤️

@@KarenJonesFoodFamily oh that's a very smart 🤓 tip! I made my step mom's vegetable soup with hunger meat in the crock pot last weekend and had tomato 🍅 paste left over and I put plastic wrap over the top n put it in the fridge and I 4got about it and was gna use it again for another casserole like baked spaghetti 🍝 but I haven't gotten around to it yet and I wonder if it is still good? What do u think? How good is tomato paste after u open the can? I will freeze it in a small sandwich ziploc bag n toss it in the freezer right now while I'm thinking about it I love how you reply back to our comments not alot of TH-camrs communicate with their followers/members/YT family That's what makes your channel special. I'm just curious to know What is ur birthday? Mine is April 18th! I'm an Aries ♈ ! I'm 38years old Mother of 3 children. I'm disabled and I love to cook when I'm able too. Just wanted to introduce myself to you. So you can get to know me a little bit better. I don't want to ask you any personal questions. I will always respect your privacy.

I made 15 bean soup just yesterday! I don’t add tomatoes. I soaked the beans overnight, sautéed onions, carrots and celery in bacon fat, added leftover ham and chicken, bourbon smoked black pepper, herbs de Provence and cooked in a homemade chicken broth. So hearty! So delicious!

Using the tube of tomato paste is a great idea! I need to remember to get one next time I go to the store. Thank you for this great recipe. We went out Sunday night in 14 below zero for our son Brandon's 31st birthday, and that was quite an adventure even though the restaurant is only 20 minutes from our home, lol. I truly can not tell you how incredibly helpful it is when you show a sample of what you are preparing. I'e been cooking (most likely) as long as you, but there are so many folk who are still learning. You are just a great teacher--and that is a blessing to all who learn from you. Even the "lesson" about using a tube of tomato paste! Thanks so much for just being you. P.S. I love Easy Cooking with Linda B.

Karen, when you were doing the smoked sausage cutting it in rings you said we are going to get these diced up. Well I always thought when someone says diced in a recipe they mean equal squares do? You are not doing that here but doing rings. New to cooking ...is there a another meaning for dice? what does dice mean to you? Please explain. Also in a recipe when doing and they use the word dice how would you determine between the dice if there is a difference for the word on which to use. Not trying to be difficult just trying to learn. Thanks ahead of time.

Karen.... is it possible to help with another word I get confused on? I hope so … the word is chop sometimes it means to cut any way as long as its cut up and other times chop can means to just cut only. Right or not.? What is your take on this word? Also since there is 2 ways to view chop how do you decide in a recipe which one they want? Trying to learn but this hanging me up any help would be appr. THANKS.

When I say chop, I mean normal size cut into square pieced. If I say dice, I mean smaller finer pieces. You can asked me questions, I don't mind at all. I 😉❤️

@@KarenJonesFoodFamily thank you. but do u agree that chop sometimes means just cut and not into square pieces? That is where i am having trouble with in recipes that use chop as cut only and chop to mean like you said square pieces. How do you know which chop they are referring to, to use. EXAMPLE... lets get to chopping these vegetables up here could be chop as cut bec. they are interchangeable words or could it mean chop as square pieces? Do you see what i mean? Thank you for giving me your time and understanding.

@lulu22422 I understand what you're saying. As you cook more, you'll understand more. Most recipes, it doesn't matter. Most of the time, recipes are going to tell you chop, dice, or slice. Make sense? 😉
