FORD wants my Maverick back. They can't have it!

  • Please help my channel by hitting the subscribe button. When I left the ($500) deposit for my Maverick back in January, They gave me a print out of the total price for my build. When the truck arrived, They told me the price was going to be $5000 more. I handed them the contract and informed them THIS was the price. They took me to the finance gal who I enformed, would not be financing anything. There was nothing she could do. I refused all the pacs and GAP and pre-paid maintenance. I handed her my debit card and she rang up the truck just like that and done. It was the quickest purchase of a vehicle I have ever experienced.

Ford manufactured the truck.....They don't want to buy it back. It's the dealer that wants it back to add a markup. Ford along with other manufacturers are having some difficulty with parts so your theory is a not correct!

Possible. I bought a 2012 Outback in 12. Within a few months the dealership wanted to buy it back. Apparently people.wanted a 12 Suby really bad. At that time was the Sunami in Japan so Suby parts were not shipping to Indiana. Once parts flowed the 2012s were shipped as fast as they were made. I just happened to get a call that the dealership had one arrive and I took it. Apparently they would have made money if I traded in or sold back to them to sell. Nothing special about the car except a shortage.

You should go down to the dealer and see what they are charing for used Mavericks. I'll bet they are selling them for new car prices because of the high demand. So, here's their plan: They hose you on the trade in, sell your Maverick for a big markup, and hose you again on the new car you buy. If you hear Dueling Banjos playing when you drive into the dealer's lot you will know I am correct.

This has nothing to do with the dealer really wanting your car. Some sales support consultant has told lots of dealers to do this as a way of keeping their dealer on top of your mind. I had the same thing happen when I purchased a 2018 Ford Escape. I had the car for less than a month and they were already pestering me to buy it back with phone calls and constant mailers. When I called them just to see what was going on they had no interest in actually buying my car unless it was for 60 cents on the dollar. It was just a complete waste of time and energy on everyone's part. It finally stopped when I called the sales manager and said any further sales pitches would result in me going to a different dealer in the future. He claimed the owner of the dealership had gone to a seminar and was sold this service to increase repeat sales. Stupid is as stupid does.

It has everything to do with the dealer wanting his Maverick. These are in high demand. Ford will not let dealers jack up the price on new vehicle purchases, so dealers are hounding current Maverick owners to trade in their barely used Mavericks and reselling them for huge profits. A quick search will show that these trucks with a sticker price under $30K are going for upwards of $45K as used vehicles (because Ford can't dictate what used vehicle prices). Dealers have been even known to take their brand new vehicles to dealer only auctions and sell them there. A dealer buying a new vehicle at auction can then sell it as a used vehicle with warranty and all and charge whatever they want.

Dealerships got letters from Ford that if they continue to mark up the cars and trucks they would lose their allocations. So in some respects that they need to sell the new vehicle at MSRP. But if they do a buyback it becomes a used vehicle and they are not restricted to sell at MSRP. Regardless they are scum bags. I hope factory direct sales gain a foothold and everyone one of them that took advantage, end up homeless

I appreciate your view, I really do, but it’s your dealer that’s trying to get your car back. If you’d like to add Ford credit as a potential benefactor, that’s fine, but most people are already financing their truck. I’m an owner of a 22 XLT FX4 4K tow package Maverick, went to my dealer today and was offered your same deal that you have spoken of here. Ford is losing money on these trucks, and the uptick in pricing shows that, if they were losing, prices would 5-6 thousand dollars more not 2k on the 23’s. Really enjoyed your opinion, thought I’d give mine. Should also add that most people whom ordered their 22 maverick locked in 1.9 apr which is incredible and not a ton of extra revenue in the grand scheme of things. For my 32k priced truck my interest is like $1500. It should be said that I added warranties and service packages that are included on that interest, I’ll let you figure out my down because I’d rather not disclose that openly. Cheers

I believe you hit the nail on the head. It's not about one manufacturer it's about interest rates. The banks have to find some way to slow the automotive bubble. Getting another car increases your interest rates which can help offset the millions of cars they have sitting in parking lots they can't sell. Many many with hardly any miles on them at all. The market drove extremely high for about 24 months and the cost of vehicles to dealers was extremely high and they spent it because they were in a bidding war and the banks carried their lots. In the car lot world the banks tend to floor plan everything you see on their parking lot which means they pay interest while the vehicle sits on their lot but they can buy whatever vehicles they want at auction or trade in. The bank charges of a very small percentage of interest for each car on their lot while it sits on their lot the moment they sell they required to pay in full for that vehicle back to whoever the financial institution that backs their lot is. A lot of these lots including new dealerships are sitting very very deep in their used inventory. It's not about marking up the vehicle for resale it's about the interest kickbacks they get for new loans.

Just a guess - I got a buddy who works in natural gas, his whole fleet of trucks that go out and read meters were replaced with Mavericks. I'm thinking that MAYBE dealerships are trying to buy them back to complete fleet orders, or that fleet orders are eating up the stock.

When I do take delivery, I believe it will be next September or October ,if I am lucky. I will drive it until the wheels fall off. Tell that dealership to go straight to Hell.

Yes, the dealerships are shady...!!! This happened to me back in 2015, and I fell for it. I traded my 2012 Escape for a 2015 Escape. A few weeks later, I found out someone paid more than the vehicle was worth and was ok with it. Ford did not approve of this, it's the dealerships. This is happening to a lot of vehicles. Dealerships are marking up the new Corvette which was recently in the news by $60,000 (If I remember correctly). It could be slightly higher/lower but it's the Dealerships. Please correct your video as others have pointed this out as well.

I added the black protective paint to the bed and basic side boards, and a 5 year auto-butler deal. The base price before the addons was 18,700, out the door at 21k and change. I now have just over 80k. When I say just over 80k, I mean less than 20 miles over on this truck and it is over 11 years old. I also added an aftermarket stereo and rear facing camera, and just recently added a Rove R3 Dash cam. On the highway, I know I can still get about 34-36 mpg, city 15ish? I basically got what some would call a fleet truck. Plain white, two door. and some very minor scratches and dents. I am very happy with this truck and no truck payments.

The heater core was out, and in the winter it would be so cold, our breath would fog up the windows in that big steel boat. Plus, the car had no friggin power steering. Mom said it made her strong turning the wheel in it. Great video! I believe you’re half right on this video. Ford has done the math on a set number of Mavericks to be manufactured to stay profitable with the sales they get with other vehicles. Bc of this, there’s a limited amount of inventory on stock and makes these dealerships make these offers. Ford doesn’t get these extra profits if being resold to the dealers, it would just go to the dealers. Ford is only in charge of the manufacturing and gets its profits through the number of cars being ordered. If someone really wants a Maverick, they should be quick the order bank opens or will have to pay extra through the dealership

Mr. Gibson, are you from Warren, Ohio? I recognize your tee shirt as from Believer's Church. I ordered three 2023 Maverick's XL Hybrids (only 18% Mavericks produced are Hybrids) from Mark Thomas Ford in Cortland, Ohio which won't arrive until the 2024 model year. I OK with that; allows the factory to work out all the bugs. I paid full retail price, got same color (Atlas Blue) as yours for all three Mavericks. I would prefer the orange color but not an option on the XL model. My only optins was factory spray-in bed liner, full spare tire, and tow hitch. Be sure to undercoat your truck; it will rust out within two years in the north in spite of the panels underneath the truck. There is a guy on TH-cam with a Maverick that did a major detail job which is what I would recommend. If not, and you live in Warren, OH area, I can recommend someone from Cortland, OH who uses cosmoline (rated the best). Ford is not losing money on the Maverick; there made in Mexico; I believe factory labor rate is $1.30 per hour; lowest of any industrial country. Limits on all manufacter production is limited due to the coming Great Reset. Gas will go to $15 per gallon or more making it unaffordable to drive any long distances. You are to be confined to your home and not protest like China is doing right now over a fake COVID lockdown.

It’s the dealership that lost a lot of money on the back end by not financing you most people can’t pay cash so the finance office makes there money on extended warranty, if you have impeccable credit and they finance you at a higher rate the dealership could make 2-3 thousand on you financing.
The truck has become more popular than ford anticipated also all the manufacturers are laying off. Dealerships are going to be hit hard this time of the year business slows way down on top of a bad economy. I’m glad I don’t sell vehicles any longer.
