    For even cheaper you probably could’ve bought the big sheets of foam from Lowe’s that are only like $10 and save even more money! I’m probably going to follow what you did with my Jeep.

      I looked at the large sheets of foam, I felt they were too thick for my needs. Let me know how yours comes out! BTW use ALOT more glue than I did! I had to reapply mine.

      @@DunnageGarage just got the materials, I’m wondering if I would be able to use spray adhesive to hold the liner to the hard top or is that not robust enough? Also wondering which glue you were referring to, the hot glue or the spray becuase I definitely don’t want to do this twice.

      @@calebberglund53 I do not think it is. In fact if you watch the video, it doesn't appear that I used very much adhesive when I attached the carpet...I didn't, and I had to peel it back and apply a lot more of it to areas where it sagged off the backing. Thant said, plan on using ALOT of the spray, probably a full can for a headliner the size of a Jeep TJ. I would also consider using more of the two sided tape than I did too. Mine didn't stick very well on the edges, But my roll cage keeps it tight to the roof, so I don't have issues. Good luck, let me know how it comes out!

    wonder if stapling the fabric to the board would be a more sturdy alternative...? I want to try this on mine

      I’m not sure it would work…completely. The staples would only hold it at the point of the staple, the glue holds the entire piece of material. Meaning you would have a lot of sagging with the staples. Not to mention having dents where the staples press into the foam board. Finally if the staple doesn’t get the tips bent behind the foam board they will just pull out. That said, I have used staples around the edge of the carpet on my cabinets to help hold the edges. What I have noticed there is that the staples are very visible due to being shiny metal (silver) on black carpet. If I were to do this again (and I have). Go with the strongest spray glue you can find. We are experimenting with carpet glue on the cabinets.

      Yeah I was more so referring to the edges with the staples, but just using a lot of spray glue and probably 3m automotive tape towards the center

      @@jacobm.4073 sounds like a good plan. I haven't had any issues with mine.

    Hey there, I'm going to be doing this pretty soon, how has this held up so far? What are some of the flaws?

    • @DunnageGarage

      I didn't use enough spray adhesive between the carpet and the foam board. If I were to do it again I would use ALOT more. I would plan on using 2x as much of the 2-sided tape. I had a front roll bar that helped hold mine in place, however noticed a couple of areas that the tape didn't hold. Over all I was very happy with this project. Thanks for the comment.

    Does it really help the reduce the noise?

      Yes, some...but it's a Jeep it is still loud. It also helps with the temperature too.

    What materials you used for the headliners

      @DunnageGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I used foam poster board and auto/marine carpet. 3m HD adhesive and gorilla 2 sided tape

      The most important part of a teaching video and left out. Nice video, but not very useable without the list of materials.
