"SDSU's Asian 459 is focused on the islands of the Pacific Rim and Dr. Solomon gave us the option to do whatever the heck we wanted for our final project, just as long as it involved Asia or the Pacific Rim. I thought this was a perfect opportunity to showcase what I love to do the most, dancing hula. Starting at age 3, I never imagined it becoming such an integral part of my life and who I am as a person. While I can't claim Hawaiian blood as my own, I know that hula runs through my veins. Hula is so much more than just choreography. It's the way that the dancer connects themself to the mele, the mana, and the aina. I hope you enjoy it!" ---Maxine Reyna
