- A truly moving performance by Weldon Kekauoha of Queen Liliʻuokalaniʻs composition "Queenʻs Jubilee". Accompanied by the hula of Kumu Kapua Dalire-Moe and her daughter Kili. Recorded for "Island Music, Island Hearts", a Coco Palm Pictures production, on the shores of Kahala Beach on the island of Oʻahu. Weldon is joined by musicians Jack Ofoia on guitar and Alika Boy Kalalui IV on bass.
This is the most heavenly singing and dancing I have ever witnessed! How I wish I had grown up with such a sacred culture to nourish my heart.
How soothing... The Hawaiian People must be the most relaxed people on the Planet! That was lovely, just lovely!
My dad is Hawaiian and my mom haole and we grew up in the mainland. But we were raised Hawaiian. This. The aloha and grace of our queen to compose a song for a peer. She could've just given her a seashell. Some kukui nuts. Instead she gives a masterpiece....because that's who she and we are. You can feel her greatness and goodwill in the mele, man, it just envelopes you. I know I'm Hawaiian when I hear it. And the hula, Weldon and the boys are on point!! One of my all time fav jamz, for sure.
Today would be my grandmother's 104th birthday. She was born in Hawaii in 1917, the year that Queen Lili passed away. Our family has 140 years of history in Hawaii, and I am beyond grateful and proud to be from such a beautiful culture so full of love and warmth. My grandmother embodied and epitomized the Aloha spirit, and taught me so much about Ohana, love, generosity and kindness; a queen in her own right. #LouiseOkuBorges #JimmyBorges #CarolyneBorges #CynthiaBorges #RestInParadise
Those of you with the thumbs down obviously do not have a culture therefore you have no meaning like us who do.We`pray that you find yourselves more so find your hearts and respect God Bless..

Since I visited Hawaii for the first time in 2018, every year I go visit. “Hawaii is a magical place.” Indeed! Hoping to go back again!
I would love to have been there to see the continuity of the Hula without all the cuts and closeups. The full movement is so beautiful. I think this song as done by Weldon and his group is one of the most beautiful of all time.

Absolutely beautiful! I love Hawaii, the people, the culture, the spirit and the hula! My family has been blessed to take many trips to Hawaii and each time it feels like we are coming home! I have pictures of a male and female hula dancers in my living room, spirit of Aloha in Chicago! ❤️
Aloha to you❤
I'm tangata whenua from Aotearoa/New Zealand my mum was very in love with Hawaiian music its ppl and history, we heard beautiful and challenging times for the Queen and her ppl when Colonization spoke like a three pronged fork..2 or more deliberate conflicting msgs for her and her ppl while legislation enforced racist laws to counteract what was promised..the all too familiar story..
My visit to Hawaiiknui and Tahitinui 2012'sh was like reliving our mums stories..
I came away with the belief that tangata whenua
(you) are the "rangimarie" (peaceful) whanau of us🤔 in the Pacific Is. Aotearoa have recently bcum very challenging in how we stand, sing and dance..it wasn't like that in my day..we were becoming uniform in our actions in my day, but the influence of those old kuia in my young life..depending on the story in hand, it was no big deal to vary our actions.
1990s' progressing te reo maori has been beautiful to listen to hear and to watch our mokopuna grow confident by day..the attitude to being Maori is 99.5% great until politics drive the conversation..
I saw that attitude slowly coming to your shores, by your youth..was still humble by comparison just different to that majority..then again we need leaders for change
just hope they protect the peaceful attitude your ppl have.
Our mums family carried that gift very well here in Aotearoa reminding us to be humble in how we think, what we do things and respectfully to our ppl..to be humble we learn to love unconditionally that's how I saw your whanau in Hawakinui n Tahitinui ngamihi aroha whanau 🕊⚘️🕊🙏🕊⚘️🕊🌿💕👋
That was so Beautiful . IN this time of troubles . It lift's the spirit and the Heart Thanks . From Vancouver island BC Canada .
Awesome, great music, great singing and great dancing. A beautiful and gracious song by the Queen of Hawaii. Mahalo from Vancouver, BC.
ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL, POETIC MOVEMENTS AND SUCH GRACE. WONDERFUL SINGER AND MUSIC TOO! THANK YOU
Beautiful music and beautiful people. What a lovely setting. ❤
Bless your souls for this beautiful song, I do not understand for I am from south Africa. Love everything about it!!!!!! Thank you for sharing it with the rest of the world!
Fortunately you do not need to understand the music. Just watch the dance and observe the smiles all around. Hawaii, a most beautiful paradise. Family is everything.
Very, Very Beautiful. The Song, Music, Singing, Dancing and the People.
Thank You.
Wonderful!! Beautiful!! I can't find the right words to describe this performance. It brought tears to my eyes!! Thanks for posting this incredible video!!
Never heard this song (in this life) but the beauty of the song and the dance had me sobbing. Thanks so much.
My 8 month year old son will stop crying when listening and watching this. My whole Ohana watches this daily. Mahalo all involved in creating and sharing this video. 🙏
One the best renditions I've heard, Great job Bradah Weldon and group. I listen to it all the time. Hoping one day my daughter will learn to dance to this song. Always gives me goose bumps, as to how this song was written and presented to Queen Victoria for the Jubillee celebration during that time and era.
Beautiful ❤❤I wish the dancer had dressed in a long white hula dress as the queen would have been so proud overlooking her beautiful motions and meaningful expressions…love this song 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Wow! The mother dances so effortlessly. Beautiful!
So moving and touching. My wife and I are going back to Hawaii on Monday, Sept 10th. It's my 20th trip back and just can't get enough of Aloha..if you haven't heard, this feeling of Aloha is real just as soon as you get off the plane and I live in South Carolina yet my heritage has people believing I am Hawaiian. Aloha to all...
You have a Hawaiian heart.
elchicano65 My wife and I go back every year. The drums of the island call us back!
Beautiful!
My family and I have taken 12 trips and hope to go back this year! I totally agree with you about the spirit of Aloha! Every time we return I feel like I'm coming home. I love the culture, the people and the islands! My favorite place in the world.
I am not the only one who wants to go back to Hawaii every year. ;) My family and I fell in love with Hawaii.
Beautiful ...As a mixed raced girl born in 1956 my Mother told me wonderful stories that I was named after a Hawaiian Queen. At the time I knew i couldn't share stories with friends. Now I feel very humble and proud of the name my Mother gifted me in a very racist time.
Wait. What was racist? Idk I've always loved Hawaiian music+hula+culture....
God made you and named you (through your mother) Leilani. Always be proud as you are one of God's creations.
I am in tears, this is so moving and stunning, beautiful melodies and dancing, aloha iā ʻoukou a pau
Bello... The music very sweet and well executed. The dance magnificant. Aloha from Panama Latin America. Keep your roots
So beautiful, 1998 I spent 6 months in Hawaii.
The most beautiful place on. I love the guy and girls doing the hula. Lots of love from Australia 🇦🇺
It's really odd - I'm not Hawaiian, I live in Seattle - but when I watch this I get really, really choked up and it brings tears to my eyes....and I have no idea why.... It's very beautiful. I've only been to Hawaii once - but love it's people and traditions (I'm not a beach/heat person).
To be touched by the Hawaiian spirit soul to soul ... leaves me without words, Thank you for all of who you are for sharing the true of Aloha.
Baltic652 yup thank you to those for sure. 🙏🏾
Wow, That truly touched my soul. Sung with such feeling and melodic playing, in a lovely location, and danced with elegance, grace, and fluidity. Simply beautiful.
Love this song and Weldon's performance with the exceptional (and very famous) dancers. [FYI: The mother, Kapua Dalire-Moe, is a former Miss Aloha Hula (as well as her 2 younger sisters) -- it's like the Miss Universe of hula. Kapua is a kumu hula (hula teacher) and runs a very prestigious halau (hula dance academy) that was established by her mother, Aloha Dalire (the very first Miss Aloha Hula, crowned in 1971). Kapua's daughter, Kili, is a serious contender for the title of Miss Aloha Hula at the next annual Merrie Monarch Festival in 2021 (the 2020 festival was cancelled due to pandemic). ] Thanks for sharing this beautiful performance. Mahalo nui loa.
Love kili so beautiful can't wait to see her perform at the next Merri Monarch Festival
This is great. I grad Kailua High in 1969 and so many of our wonderful musicians and dancers are passing when very young… MORE LOVE, less da-kine bad stuff.
They are both so beautiful and graceful. Thank you for this information.

Soy mexicano pero me gustaría casarme con una nativa hawaiana.
So beautiful and graceful. Greatings from Germany ALOHA
I have watched this so many times, just beautiful.
It's beautiful. Conveys a special grace that touches everyone. Makes you realize how reach the culture really is.
Wow, thats so beautiful both music and performance.
I am Indonesian who lives in the US. I love Hawaiian music, my uncle who passed away used to be play Hawaiian music in Indonesian with Hawaiian Senior which was popular in Indonesia where travelled in in the Netherlands with his group in 70’s-80’s. Now, I am learning how to play Ukulele.
Ahh... so u must be Moluccan right? Coz so many moluccans play Hawaiian lap steel and uke as well.
@@lehharoijtahalele4522 yes, my grand father from my mother side is Moluccan and Dutch. He played guitar and saxophone. Also, I took class Ukulele class in the music school a couple years ago. Now I can play Uke and sing a long with it. And I will be visiting Hawaii in two weeks.
Beautiful pushing our Island 🌴 Traditions especially through Queen Liliuokalani ❤️
My life's route led me to live in Florida, been here for 31 years now, but my heart and soul will always lead me back Home!! OAHU, HAWAI'I !!
Graceful and so beautiful. What a rich voice the gentleman has. Thank you so much for sharing. Stay blessed.
Hawaiian culture seems so inclusive and positive. It gives off "I SEE YOU & ACKNOWLEDGE YOU" ✨ I pray I get to visit Hawaii one day and witness the beautiful people, their energy, culture, music & everything 💕
Doesn't have to be inclusive
maahalo
The best part about this video is the next generation of dancers in the background singing along. Passing the Mana'o along to the future
Bravo!! This kind of music and the dance representation is so deep! Mahalo!!
One of my all time Hawaiian favor songs. Mother and daughter beautiful🧡🧡🧡 Aloha and Ofa atu
My favorite song since the first time I heard it back when Weldon Kekauoha released this version ....❤️ reminds me of home
We’ve been self quarantined since March 16th. TH-cam is saving my life. Haha Hawaiian music brings calmness in the midst of this pandemic craziness. Thanks for sharing this video.
Isn't it so peaceful, calming and beautiful. ❤️
Me too. I keep coming back , I love this band, and others, but especially love Isreal Kamakawiwoole.
Wow! This is one of the most beautiful things I have ever watched. I miss Hawaii sooo much. Its culture, its people, the food, those breathtaking places...I hope I have the privilege to go back one day...
I've been to Hawaii only twice. There is definitely something magical about that place. I listened to Island 98.5 while there and then downloaded iheart radio to listen back home in OZ. I remember flying out on one of the trips back home listening to IZ Hawaii 78 and I got really emotional leaving. I started to cry a bit in the plane... I tried to hide it. I don't understand Hawaiian but it speaks to me of indigenous cultures slowly being erroded over time along with lands/rights as civilisations move forward... not necessarily for the bettter 😞
I've been to quite a few countries in my time but nothting 'feels' like Hawaii. I plan on coming back with my 2yr old daughter so she can experience the islands.
I come back to this video every now and then... fascinated by the recording which is astounding, transfixed by the beauty of the dancing and moved by the culture.
Long live Hawaii
💗
Mahalo. Stay connected.

I felt like crying when leaving on a jet plane from Hawaii
Special place in the heart 😢
Beautiful music, beautiful hula, beautiful dancers, and a beautiful atmosphere, this video is my happy place. I want to be there.
I do not understand a word , but I can still feel the power of the song! Couldnt help but tear up! Beautiful 🫶🏽
Love island dancing especially out of the public eye, then it assumes it's authentic purpose.
It's neat how alot of the audience take on that analytical look that is critically assessing the movements of the dance and dancers.
Ditto Baltic652.......I was touched the first time I set foot in Hawaii many years ago... and it stays with me forever..... Mahalo for this post.
Thank you for allowing me the privilege of being able to share in the beauty of your culture. Aloha from Salmon Arm B
B.C. Canada.
I have no idea what the words meant but, this brought me to tears. Beautiful voice, beautiful and graceful mother-daughter dancers. Love so much. ❤️
This is really special. I started crying for real when the second young lady began dancing and the movements were so perfectly coordinated. Lovely voices, harmonies so smooth, the appreciative audience that knew all the words. Thank you.

As one musician to another ....beautiful. Music is Life. 🎸🎶
It is with supreme gratitude of heartfelt impression to the people of Hawaii that I dedicate my appreciation of their culture.

My wife and I have been to the islands many times and each time it seems like Hawaii
