    I combined a small can of yellow curry paste with a small can of red curry paste to make a quick sort of Singaporean laksa base. I've used curry paste to marinade chicken. Also, red curry paste is great in butternut squash soup (pureed with coconut milk). And I have also made an Asian style meatloaf with ground pork, chopped shrimp, green or red curry paste, green onion, black fungus, broccoli slaw mix, mung bean noodles, and sliced bamboo shoots with lots of chopped cilantro. For fries, zap a little yellow curry paste in the microwave for a few seconds and stir with mayonnaise for curried mayonnaise. This also makes a great chicken salad dressing for something like Coronation Chicken.

    I made a Fusionized chicken tikka with red curry paste and did a mint and basil chutney to go with it. I used coconut cream for both the marinade and dip. Curry pastes and coconut are the indianized influence on the Thai kitchen, a lot of the curries are Indian tweaked into suiting the thai taste buds.

    I like to fry minced beef with onions, jalapeño peppers, and red curry paste and use it as omelet filling. It’s a great high-protein, low-carb breakfast for bodybuilders.

    I recently made something like fusion dish "thai curry wurst". I fried german bratwurst, the sauteed onion, set aside, then i made dry curry base (sauteed massaman curry paste in oil, added a little of water). Then i added bratwurst and onions to this base and stirred until dish became dry and all curry base stuck to sausages. Mmmm

    Some great ideas. I do tend to mix up my own pastes most of the time but if I am in a hurry a pre-made paste is such a great time saver. For a really quick meal at lunch time I like to use a bit of curry paste spread on a wrap, add a little sweet chilli sauce and then fill with sprouts, cucumber slices, grated carrot, shredded lettuce and sliced tomato. For those who might be a bit scared of heat in the curry paste you can replace it with crunchy peanut butter. Might sound weird but it tastes great :)

    My easy-lazy meal is a Mr. Noodles / ramen type soup. Into the soup pot goes a spoon of red or green TC Paste (lasts "forever" in freezer), fresh or frozen veggies, and (prepped, not raw) meat, along with double or triple the amount of water the noodle soup recipe calls for. Boil for 5 - 10 minutes. Then follow the regular noodle soup instructions. Yum and super easy.

    This video is for me especially because that bucket of curry paste is my favorite of them all (I don’t know if it’s my imagination or the amount I use or what….). But then I have a ton left over that goes bad… so now I have a good way to use it.

    I LOVE to make yakiudon (stirfried udon) or yakisoba with yellow curry which os awesome, better with this vacume sealed udon, you don't have to cook them, just throw them wok with the sauce and stir, the noodles will absorb it and cook perfectly and you can use any vegetables and protein. You can also use it as a dipping sauce in a tantanmen (dry version of the rament in which you dip thw noodles) ir un a risotto

    Pailin, great suggestions and ideas for other uses for your curry paste. I was wondering if you need to sauté the curry paste first if you are going to add it to mayonnaise, sour cream or cream cheese to be used as a dip or spread? Looking forward to your next video.

    • @LemLTay
      @LemLTay 6 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      If the dip/spread is not going to be cooked, it would probably be a good idea to saute the curry paste first to get the "rawness" and any harsh notes matured first. Also, if there's raw shrimp paste in there etc. that needs to be properly cooked.
      Perhaps for quick meal ideas, we should keep sauteed curry paste in the freezer ready to add to whatever... in Malaysia, we do this for spice bases like laksa, mee rebus, soto etc. Make an extra-large batch of spice paste, then saute the whole lot and portion the rest for quick prep the next few times.
