Everyone -- So I bought this adapter and it is AMAZING. The design is absolutely perfect to fit the G3x/F90 10.25" display in an F3x/F8x. Please note that, if you source your own display (like on ebay, etc.), BMW made several versions of this display. While they are all physically the same, there are important technical differences. The main one is whether the display was made for the NBTEvo head unit or the MGU head unit that succeeded NBTEvo. The NBTEvo-era displays natively operate at 1440x540 resolution, while the MGU displays operate natively at 1920x720 resolution. NBTEvo was never intended to operate at 1920x720 resolution. Not knowing any of that, I bought a dead mint MGU 10.25" display, but it would not turn on if set to 1440x540. It would, however, turn on if coded to operate at 1920x720. The problem was that the BMW navigation maps did not display correctly; they only took up part of the display area, leaving big borders on the right side and bottom. BimmerTech had to code my head unit for about an hour to make it work, but the result is awesome. The BMW navigation maps now display at the higher resolution of 1920x720--meaning, much more map data is visible on the screen at one time, albeit slightly smaller--very crisply and clearly. Highly recommend. This upgrade is the definition of OEM+!
Another thing to note: if you have the complete leather option (meaning, your dash is covered in leather), the adapter needs a bit of "persuasion" to seat properly. But it will work.
Thanks pal! Glad it works perfectly for you!
Cheers!
The BimmerTech guy has a serious Billy Mays vibe going on
just a little lol
Hi man so i have a car whose speakers are fine and it has cassette player which was not used for about a year so today i turned it on and the radio volume was very low so i increased the volume but it wouldn't go above Vol 31
It has 2 rear speakers
Don't think we can help u with that :(
Great product! Is this adapter compatible with the OEM 10.25” screen that came in the F15 X5 or is it only compatible with the screen that BimmerTech sells? I thought that I saw a BMW part sticker on the screen used in this video demonstration. Thanks.
As far as I understood it's an ordinary G30 screen... But 300 bucks for an adapter and screws... 😢
This is compatible with G30 screen only
Do you think that's too expensive?
@@bimmer-tech - I assume the part is printed, so not the most economical of processes, but you would otherwise have to pay for molds and make 100k of them to bring the price down, LOL.
The price is basically justified by the quality and after sales support. We want the products to be DIY friendly. Consider that it is considerably less pricey than if you bought a cheaper product and pay the installer to do it for you! And it applies to everything we sell :)
Cheers!
I don't see a link in the description explaining how the coding works. I just want to know what I'm getting into before I order it.
The coding is executed with coding cable (if you don't have one, you can order it with the retrofit) and a laptop. You just arrange a remote coding appointment with our technician and during that he will do everything for you. Every step is described in product instruction supplied to the Adapter.
Cheers!
what about active hybrid 3 varient do u have any compatible screens
Send us you car's VIN and we will check it for you :D
Is this compatible with any part number of G30 screen? Were they all touch, or only specific models/years?
It is compatible to all G30 screens :)
I could have missed it, but do you also sell the 10.25" screen?
Yep, we do sell them as well. When you open the product page of Screen Adapter, you can find the screen in Add-on section on the right side :)
