I did this exact thing last year - wrote out a whole heap of ideas and then stuck with what I decided on for this entire year. It gave me long enough to think about what I really liked and needed, and it's worked, so I'm carrying it on into 2022. Changing planners every few weeks like some do would make my head spin!

I listened to this 3 times... it's so eye opening for me. You are sooo right....don't complicate it. I'm trying to move into ONE planner & one catch all journal & my personal journal. This is all I need. Thank You !! And your voice is so calming & you not rushing thru. Keep It Up you're on the right track !!!

This is so timely! After years of big decorative planners, I found myself in a vicious circle of customization and sticker binging. I realized the planner didn't meet my needs. I've converted to the original bujo system and I'm much happier. My ultimate goal is a stolagy in a lv mono cover.

Thanks Chevonne! This is definitely food for thought. I’ve been using a HP Classic for 5 yrs which worked best for me as a catch all (personal planning, home, family, fitness and journaling) and I love the disc system as an outlet for my creativity. I have a separate work planner- (simple, no fuss functional from Costco) for my 9-5 job. But I started looking at various options for 2022, after I saw so many influencers in multiple planners. It made me wonder if I wasn’t doing something right. I even went down a rabbit hole looking at popular ‘techo’ and bought a Koyuto biz to try for my next work planner. But I think I will stick to what has worked for me in my personal planner and not try to overload or complicate the planning process. Your videos are authentic, classy, chic and inspiring. It’s also so nice to see a lovely person (inside and out) repping our beautiful island of Jamaica 🇯🇲 in the planner community! 😊Bless up! ❤️

Even to create this channel for yourself but for your viewers as well is awe inspiring. I agree with you, switching around to so many different planners during the year gave me the feeling that I didn’t accomplish anything. Although in the beginning it was necessary to try different planners to find the right fit, which I did, my problem was the FOMO 🙄 I’m thankful to say I have since outgrown that, I realized that my budget allows for a certain amount so I had to learn to be intentional about my purchase’s. Last year I tried the Hobonichi Cousin for the first time and will be using it again for 2022. It fulfills all my needs in a planner.

This is so perfect! I’m going to share this with my best friend who has had trouble finding the right planner. As for myself, I switched to half-letter size in May and have never felt better about a planning system. I am a writer, editor, and English Professor; I lead a church ministry, and I’ll be launching a blog site to entail my journey through domestic violence and to promote my upcoming book. I also plan to start tracking some things. All of that will be housed in my half-letter.

I had to pause your video and write down what you said about picking a planner being a personal choice. I’ve had a journal or agenda/planner since I’ve been able to write but this year was the first year I discovered the planner community online. It’s all really overwhelming. The amount of time and money spent trying to have the latest and greatest is insane. I have experienced the hoarding of items and short term gratification from consuming products that will never be useful to me. But in the end, it should be about making a personal choice for your own needs! Thank you for the reminder.

Thank you this was helpful. It helped me to zero in on what has really helped me in a planner and it helped me see how my phone and my desktop have been helping me in organizing my life too. For example, I use my phone's calendar to remind myself about events (& put an alert for 2 days or 1 week before/reminders), then I don't have to worry about forgetting about anything. (also autopay for bills is great). I keep a folder on my desktop for FAV inspirational Quotes (do a 'command/shift 4) & it copies/& I paste to pages, movies to watch, FAV Music, FAV inspirational speakers/workshops etc.

I’m in love with A5 and I found a company that makes inserts I love and have just enough room with great paper quality. Paper Standards works great for me. Love this video and I agree with the planners switching… that’s why I love this size because I can add and take away but my system, stays the same all year. it’s an A5 life for me. Now I need to make my own need list for 2022. Great idea! 💕

You know, I have thought about this exact same thing for months. Why not making your every day planner your main planner? I have been in A5 for three years and I do not think I will go back to any other planner anytime soon. I am I stay-at-home mom which means I do not go out much and I do not have to carry my big planner to places a lot but I do not mind holding it while out. I recently learned you can add so many things to a ring bound since I was only using it only for appointments and my school. I now have added, to the same planner, a section for the home, finance, pets, kids school trackers, a personal section, and even for my garden. I am ONLY thinking of adding a planner once I graduate and get a job but that’s it. That planner will only be for work. I needed this video more than I thought I did since I have been seeing a lot of cute things on instagram. Thank you!!!

I'm so glad I saw this video, I've been on the fence about whether to keep using my A5 ring bound planner or to go back to the spiral bound planners from Target that I also love. For now, I am going to keep using my ring bound A5, as I can customize it more than I could a spiral planner. I am also in the process of getting my planner ready for 2022 and this video was a huge help.

For so long, I tried to force myself into using one planner for both work and personal (even though my work is always 9-5 & I keep it very separate from my "home life"). Also, I tried to keep my wallet/personal rings as my _only_ personal planner... but that wasn't enough for keeping me on my goals.
And I scribble notes all day.
So I finally stopped trying to force myself to do what doesn't work for me personally... and I've never been happier or more productive.
I use a digital planner for work that's in my work computer. I also use a regular legal pad for work notes/doodles. Then for home, I have a letter size disc Franken-planner for personal goal planning & journal, and the EDC personal size filofax ziparound is my wallet, finances, personal projects, calendar (events & appointments), & brain dump. My personal "lists"/reference are in a OneNote in the cloud.
Now I no longer am tempted to ditch my systems for the shiny new thing.

I enjoyed your video. I noticed you said you have fibromyalgia. I did too for a long time. Someone told me if I would stop eating sugar in any form and stop eating white flour products (anything w/white flour in it, cause it turns into sugar fast in your body) they promised me it would go away. I decided to try it.....it’s hard! But now I am fibromyalgia free! As long as I stay away from those foods I am fine and pain free, brain fog free etc.
thank you again for a good advice. Kathie

I love this video! I found that an EDC in personal size works for me on the go, when I have appointments & need to quick plan. I can’t use my phone because as quick as I typed it is as quick as I forgot all about it. So I use an EDC & an A5 because I write big. So I quick write/abbreviate in my EDC and then transfer to my A5. Yes it’s a bit time consuming but it’s what works for now until I come up with something better when I have time to think about it. 😅

Just found your channel. I love the logic and calmness of your ideas and thoughts. This past year I did what some people call frankenplanner. I took my happy planner and added in a budget section to my catchall planner. 2 planners, 1 book to carry. It has really worked for me so I'm sticking with it for now. Yes! My EDC is my one and only/ I feel like I’ll accidentally lose something if I have to write things in more than one location- I love it- the only other place I track appointments is on my google calendar on my phone- just in case I don’t have my bag with me- those 2 places are more than enough for me 🤗 I agree let’s keep 2022 simple! I love to write big so I took my time and purchased and even created my dashboards and I am pleased. At first it was so overwhelming but I stayed true to me and blocked out the others. This coming year is the first year I’m going to actually try to use a planner. As a SAHM of a toddler I don’t really have tons of appointments or things to schedule. I found one that I think will work well for me. Problem was I bought it in October and it only has the calendar view for the rest of 2021 instead of the daily pages. So I’m eagerly waiting for January to actually start using it lol. I’m doing very simple for myself. Meal plans, top 3 tasks to do for the day, gratitudes, a small task list that can transfer to the next day, my spending for the day(attempting to do no buy 2022), and any appts/phone calls I may need to deal with. Also trying to do a monthly goal and possibly a weekly goal(maybe later in the year so I don’t overwhelm myself).I have such a hard time sticking with things so I’m hoping I can stick with this one!

I tried my best to turn myself into a *PLANNER GIRL* but I have to admit to myself that the simpler, the better. I was over complicating things and confusing myself with stickers, decals and highlighters, and all it did was assault my eyes, and kind of confuse me. One of my favorite/easiest planners I've ever had was a pocketbook size At-A-Glance. Light weight, simple lay out, and clean design.

thanks so much for sharing ! I too learnt my lesson and sat down to brainstorm for my planner line up for 2022 . . . I am glad I cut it down to only 3 planners for next year versus 5/6 planners . I am content and hopefully it will work for me . It took me weeks to figure out what to not continue and what I might work with what my needs . I am still waiting for a planner to arrive before my line up is complete . . .

This really made me to think about buying and customizing a planner. I have never had one... I have only used my calendar and lived day by day: having my normal schedule. When working from home, I think life is much more easier and I have not needed a planner. I think, I should start journaling about what I eat every day to feel healthier and maybe even to lose weight. Thanks again!!

I enjoyed this video. This was the reminder I needed to keep everything simple. Ive gotten into the planner craze and now that’s it’s the end of the year I noticed having lots of planner don’t work well for me. I haven’t been organized if anything it’s caused more chaos. I hope to save time and more money this year also. I unfollowed a lot of the affiliate pages in an effort to avoid the constant temptation.
I’ll probably go back to my a5 stalogy and stick there. Thank you for this. ❤️

Great tips and I LOVE your shirt!!! 😍 usually I bullet journal in a dot grid notebook but had a baby so less time for fun creative spreads from scratch so I have been using a Hobonichi Cousin Avec the second half of the year and LOVE it so got it again for next year.

Hi. Just purchased a Cambridge planer that has monthly and weekly pages. Was going to get two separate planners for personal and business but this will work for me. Weekly pages are for the business (crafting business) and the monthly pages will be for personal stuff (birthdays, appointments, etc). Those discs things look too floppy for me. Thanks for this video.

You give such great advice- I think the most important thing that you encouraged was for everyone to do what feels best for them. That said, I’m at a paint that I’m needing to separate things out and have multiple planners. I’m going analogs for a number of things this year, as my work emails and calendars are just so full of information and my reports schedule at work is out of control. I’m spending some time separating it out and planning for next year, so that as we hire on new positions, I can hand it off to someone- OR, use it as data to justify a new position. And at home, I’ve learned that I am unable to combine my finances with anything else and a spreadsheet is not a good substitute for me, as I’ve ineffectively tried it for years. Ideally, we know our own learning. If something about our planning and tracking is not working- STOP. THINK. (What’s working? What’s NOT working?) And try something else. And for goodness sake, don’t break the bank, until you know exactly what you want. Then you can have a little fun with the spurge and not feel guilty. I’m a Hobonichi/Baum-Kuchen/Superior Labor girl, with very minimal stickers/washi. And I love my fountain pens with pretty ink! 💗🦋

NICE! This is what I like to hear, when we have our own system figured out. Once we identify what works for us, we need to stick to it.

Omgosh, I want my LV daily agenda, to be as thick as your journal. I’ve been using the classic HP for years. I ordered a leather cover from Etsy, years ago. I still look at it, bc I love how hefty it is. Lol!

My subscription box ends in December and I will not be renewing it!! 💸
Your Stalogy hack will have me in my planner until at lease June I’m hoping. I love that I can use it without a cover if I choose to. My LV cover is a little too much for me to use at work as a teacher.
So, the important info in your current planner, you will transfer over to your 2022 planner like the Tombow info, kids and medical info? I’m still adding important info in this planner. Kids are in a new school, new activities. I’m dreading having to transfer the important sections all over again into a new planner? Especially if I were to change planner styles. 🙃
I’m here for ALL of the advice! Have a great weekend!

New subbie here...tfs! LOVE your shirt & pink planner cover.
I have 2 planners: 1 catch-all for my home/life/faith/organizations, etc. Currently using HP Classic w/dashboard layout. Separate one for work since it often has confidential information. Currently EC softbound w/vertical layout. I just got my 2022 EC work planner in today's delivery 🤗. I'm primarily a functional planner who does enjoy decorating.
I completely understand stationery addiction...mine includes paper, fountain pens 🖊 and inks as well as other upscale pens.

Great advice! I'm going to try a half-letter discbound being my catch all and a mini discbound as my home reference planner. Just wanted to try something different 2021. I'm not a big decorator when it comes to vellum, etc. Just mainly sticker dolls, washi, colored pens and markers. I stayed in a Franklin covet compact for 3 years. This year I switched over to a travelers notebook it was okay, but I like being able to insert papers in and out of my planner and I want more room to right. Thanks so much for sharing. It's giving me a lot to think about.

You know? When I was in high school in the seventies, I made a planner. It had addresses in it, assignments, and a calendar, plus some blank paper. That was it. It was the cutest little thing. Very small. Friends woyld see it and want me to make them one. Cost me all of $9 out of a stationery store in town.
Then I got caught up in Franklin Covey. While their system is wonderful and if you work it, it can do a lot, it's very time-intensive and complicated. Then came all the other stationery companies for day planners. It just got worse.
After spending way too much money on binders and whatnot, I'm going back to the idea I had in high school. Very simple. I found the cutest 13 ring personal size binder at Goodwill. It will hold a ton because of the shape of the Rings. I'm going back to very simple.
