    Excellent video!! When you receive the MP dac/stream, would be great to please hear your feedback when 1). it is connected directly to your FM300A and 2). when it is connected to your MP tube pre-amp and then to your FM300A. As I only use 1 input, the pre-amp is not mandatory but will add it if it makes the system sound better. Wonder if the MP dac/streamer tubes + the MP pre-amp tubes may make the whole system too tubey? Thanks

    Looking forward to the review! Have the pre-amp.Loves it. Test with 6sn7 or 6H8C this time! ;)

    Thank you so much for such detailed reviews on the Musical Paradise products. I really appreciate the time and effort you put into your videos. As a fellow Musical Paradise gear owner, I have the older MP-D2 Mk3 dac with Ess 3098 dacs into the MP-701mk2 preamp into my SGR 3-way active speakers. The synergy between both units are remarkable. I also have the MP-P2 phonostage, but i hardly play records these days - time poor. It could be a big ask, but if possible, do a video on the new MP-Streamer dac if you're getting one, and also i saw in a sneak peak..the MP-P2 phonostage too. :) Danke!

      Its my pleasure! 😊
      I will take some time to test and collect experience with the MP-P2, and I am waiting for the MP-DX, so there will be some test coming up, but maybe till begin of next year untill I did all...
      Now I wait for Garry to ship me the Dac 😉

      @@iam_madAny developments on this? Just wondered if you’d got it and had time to play with this enough to make a new video as was considered buying one 🤞Can’t find any content online reviewing the new model yet so would really appreciate this when you have time 👍

    Hi Jurgen and thanks for the video. I really appreciate your videos and agree with your opinions about sound. I do not have much knowledge about tubes but when I saw your vide about the Musical paradise preamp I was hooked. I think you have mentioned a DOT preamp in your videos where there were possibilities for tube rolling. Did you do any video about that? Keep your videos coming, they are very good 🎶🎵

    • @iam_mad
      @iam_mad  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Mikael, the tube rolling Pre-Amp is this MP-701 from Musical Paradise. There is no other Pre-Amp.
      BUT I can advise You, if You go for the MP-DX, the 701 is not really needed, because the MP-DX has already such a powerful sound!

    Hello. I was wondering which amp would you choose if you couldn’t keep both the Musical Paradise MP-501 or the Oldchen 845? Or is the Musical Paradise MP-501 on another level then the Oldchen?

    • @iam_mad
      @iam_mad  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank You for Your comment and sorry for the late reply.
      The MP-501 beats the OC845 in many ways, I strongly recommend the 501!
      I had a good time with the 845, but the PSvane CV181 did die so quick, and with the basic 6H8C pre tubes the sound is lacking.
      Also is the 501 capable of driving really big speakers, where is the 845 long out of breath.
      I will maybe later bring a tweak video with the 845 to compensate the points where it laks with the 6H8C tubes.

    About purchasing this DAC.Cofusing to say the least .O.K.#1 Crystek femtosecond clock #2 Sandisc 64 gb #3 the choice of a:ES9068AS or 9039. That is a lot of material choice .Which options ,may I ask have you secured ? Goes from 1550 CDN$ to 2200 CDN$

    • @iam_mad
      @iam_mad  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Alain, You should at least go for the ESS ES9039MSPRO, Raspberry Pi 4B + Sandisk and the CRYSTEK Femto Second, CCaps You can go like my 701 recommendation, and the 6N1P sounds very good!

    so if you get this dac what's the use for your old musical paradise preamp since it already has tubes in it

    • @iam_mad
      @iam_mad  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      The Signal coming directly from the ESS D/A Conversion Chip is too low / has too little gain to feed to a RCA outlet, so You have to amplify it.
      You can do it the way most companies do, stick an OpAmp chip in, and that´s it.
      Since the D/A conversion produces as a byproduct disharmonic distortions (K1/K2, etc) these distortions make the feel of the sound a bit "harsh" or "cold"
      Coincidently are the distortion - frequencies of a tube on the same frequencies which our ear recognise as "natural" or "pleasant", hence a tube stage gives the EEC chip a natural touch.
      If You let the OpAmp do the amplification, You just boost the disharmonic sound. Or You build up a discrete stage with class A transistors, if You dont like tubes,
      it will but still not fight the cold sound.
      I hope repeating what I said in the video helped You a bit 😉

    I was expecting newer and better version with top of the line AKM 4499 DAC only unit without streamer. Maybe He will bring another reference DAC only unit with AKM 4499 or R2R.

    • @iam_mad
      @iam_mad  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I trust Garry to know what sounds best.
      You also need to understand that the tube output stage needs to harmonize withe the decoder chip.
      I know Garry did experiment with many decoders, even with the TDA 1543.
      If You are so into AKM I think the AKM modules of the pre model fit into the newer model, but better ask Garry about that!

      The issue is the size, I can understand the topic.
      I have the MP-P2 here and its really huge..
