Hi there! I’m the turkey player in this game and omg I had so much fun. This was my third diplo game ever and I was super happy to walk away with second. I just want to say thanks to everyone I played with (y’all were amazing) and also thank you to you guys. I’m sure you’ve heard it a lot but you guys got me into the game with your vale videos and I’m so excited to keep playing and get better. Some things that I think are good to clear up: 1. The 1901 Black Sea move by Russia was a stab. She had crazy good press throughout the game and I was a very trusting beginner 2. I can’t tell you why I self bounced in 1904, it probably had something to do with agreements with Russia but I cringed when I saw it in the vid lol 3. There were a LOT of draw discussions in this game. Tons of moves (including the Spain convoy) were done as a last turn haha funny move for a centre 6. The Sev bounce in Fall 1907 wasn’t exactly arranged, it was part of an agreement with Russia that would hopefully get me to second before a draw, at this point Italy was also throwing for me (also part of the run for second) But I think the coolest part of this vid for me was seeing how much potential you guys saw in my position. Basically from 1902 (when I was down to my home centres) to 1906 (when Russia and France ganged on italy) I didn’t have much hope for better than third or fourth. I was the little guy in a Russia Italy Turkey alliance, but it’s super cool to hear I could have topped board if I had more confidence in the position. Overall super fun and thank you guys again :)

Thanks so much for covering this! I was England in this game, and it was my first live press game, and only my second full standard diplomacy game. I had a ton of fun! The commentary was on point on a lot of things, but the main thing it got right was the Russian coalition. France really hurt themselves in this game with that stab, because the whole board was in on attacking Russia, and they immediately stabbed everyone, so we said eff that and let Russia win, since we thought they deserved it more. If France had been a bit more patient since they had until 1910, I think they could have won. It was a very hard for me in the start to get used to talking, and the turns were not long! I really wanted an EG, but as you can see from Russia's play in this game, they had the better impression on Germany. At the end, I was just trying to see how many dots I could get, and if I could get 3rd or 4th, since alliances don't matter much in 1909. I ended up 5th, but surviving two other powers from my 1903/4 position is something I feel proud of! Good game to all my other competitors. I found it interesting that I tend to agree with Meme's analysis more in the videos, and in the few turns I was relevant, I made the moves he would have done over Ezio.
Kind of wild how in the past 30 days, I've watched 45 hours of DiploStrats. I had never even heard of the game before Valefisk's Hurricane Diplomacy and now I'm this 🤏 close to joining the DiploStrats discord server to play the game myself. Also, I'm happy Ezio's sound issues are fixed.

I don't have a perfect memory for this game, so I'll just give the highlights I remember clearly. 01: This was my first time trying this France opening. I don't love it. I'd prefer to go Par - Bur (and if I bounce, I don't mind too much) and Mar - Spa, but I couldn't be sure of the Italian opening so I wanted to try doing it this way with Gas. I will probably do this opening
1:53:11 I think turkey was agreeing to walk out of trieste in exchange for Bulgaria. That's why italy tapped the support for the attack. They probably didn't really care if the spain move went through because worst case scenario is a very angry turkey dosen't build
As far as I can remember that was about how the discussion went. I defo wasn’t happy about the Greece tap but the fact I was in Spain was so funny that it kinda overshadowed that part

I never get tired of the schtick of Ezio really trying to gas up his picks as Cap questions the maths, decisioning making: it is endlessly funny.
