    Maybe it doesn't work as well with the larger blocks, but with sawdust pellets you can measure out the dry ingredients directly into the bags, shake them up by hand a bit, and pour in the proper amount of water and let sit to expand and then sterilize. No mixing and filling.

      Yes this is what I do for all my other blocks where I use pellets.

    I've watched your one of your videos with the ribbon mixer and I'm 100% sold on this style of concrete mixer, it looks very practical. I think unless scaling up massively just get a second and run them in tandem, mixing one while working with the other substrate, the labour is fine.
    and if anyone has played No Mans Sky that is exactly what I picture in my head lol

    How on earth did you find a lid to fit it? My mixer has a 16” inside diameter and 17” outside diameter and I’ve wasted hours trying to find a lid.

    • @BlueFox61
      @BlueFox61 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Just make your own lid? Sheet of plywood, 17.5" diameter circle. Saw or jigsaw or hacksaw if you trust yourself
      Then add a raised edge with a strip of metal or what I would do is just drill 4-8 3"x2" strips so you can crimp the lid shut and use bungees for extra protection.

    Glad to see you're back! I enjoy your videos and get a lot out of them for an aspiring mushroom farmer from across the ditch.
    Any reason you use oak specifically for Shiitake? I think I remember that you use Masters mix for your other species. Would it not work for these?

    • @OakandSpore
      @OakandSpore  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Shiitake prefers supplemented hardwood, where as oysters can consume a wider range of high nutrition substrate.
