It's not hard to keep in the air, he's demonstrating the quick startup ability of tne engine design, because the original design with one single driving wheel takes a while to reach the speed for generating lift

2:34 you can remotely activate a rocket by fuse entangling it, then attaching the rocket to your build and pulling out your shield from anywhere within battery range

I guess the reason to use balloons is so that you can have lift from burning wood even when you don’t have power, but that is made kind of irrelevant by how quickly the balloons break :/ I guess if we could have battery-free lift then we could reach places like the Water Temple before we’re supposed to.
But hopefully a dlc will give us the power to make permanent balloons and wings. When I first started using balloons in the beginning of the game I was excited about making wood-powered airships more than anything.
Those timed zonai devices piss me off to no end.
All these war crime builds in TotK are a response to Koroks in BotW, finding out they're even worse to deal with in TotK, and the Red Cross getting up in video gamers business telling them to not do war crimes in video games even though half the games out there actively have you forced to do war crimes. 110% confidant on that
Koroks are fine to deal with. Red Cross can go get bent if they actually did that, though. Spec Ops The Line was literally all about "oh god we're doing war crimes, guys"

The second invention is most likely an assisted Ornithopter. Ornithopters are flying machines that use wing motions and flaps to fly, like a traditional bird. This one is not a normal one as, if it was a true ornithopter, it wouldn't need the fans to fly. That's why I say assisted ornithopter. Anyone who's played Besiege will very much know these ornithopter designs (and know the skills to do great designs in TotK) are very stable and very effective, considering it is a flapping motion. Trust me, check them out, even some of the earliest designs back before Besiege gave us the second sandbox that was bigger and had invisible walls, those designs flew like a dream more than most air based builds.
Functionally, in TotK, it's just flying with the fans. The flapping "wings" are just for looks.

Personally, I like hot air baloons cuz they give me VERT.
My build is a skate board, fan, 2 batteries, flame emitter, and a steer.
on the ground the skate board can be used to travel VERY FAST but only on flat land, in the air its the same parts but the battery is helpful to traverse the depths cuz some lightroots are hidden behind cliffsides, and sadly when lightroot hunting the one im at is too low so i cant see the next one. so my contraption lets me swap out fast ground and controlled air travel.
edit: my ground travel is ONLY
a light, a fan, a skate board.
(the battery is only needed for air travel, i dont have much wood so yeah um my only 4 pieces of wood were burned up.... another tip
4 wood plus pine cone give a LOT of vert. which was why it kinda forced me into using hot airballons.
I haven’t found the Hylian shield yet. I don’t want to because it then feels like I don’t need any other shield.
It will still eventually break, plus you may want multiple shields with different fuses on them. Sled shield, cart shield, ruby shield, sapphire shield, maybe half a dozen rocket shields... The list goes on!
@@Mightylcanis the Hylian shield last a long time and I’m good at parrying, I never lost it in BotW. Now you do make a good point of the multiple shields for fusing, but it’s kinda switching back and forth.

then you enter the shrine, attach the fan to the motor, and then use auto build to bring it to other places
