As soon as I saw the commanders I knew Blanka was going to steamroll them.
Card is absolutely nuts when you draw any of the draw engine pieces.
I've only seen Blanka played once before this on an episode of Extra Turns and Rachel Weeks stomped the pod out with him. Got to watch out for that fella in the wild.

At 30:30 Crim casts Invigorate without paying its mana costs but forgets to take the 5 damage from his own Roiling Vortex for doing that.
While that did not change the result itself, it might have changed Phil's turn because Crim would have had a life total of 2 instead of 7 at that time.

everyone else picked fun janky decks and Crim picked a high power commander on level with Korvold, Feather, Inalla, Narset, Edgar, and Chulane they are so powerful that almost no matter how they are build unless you actively build to be the opposite of what they want like 0 creatures in a Chulane deck, or Inalla with all vampires then they are going to be powerful either way.
No this is Crim is a tryhard douche week, which is every week.

It's a bit disingenuous to say he doesn't care about balance or play experience. I've seen plenty of games where he doesn't go off. Sometimes you do, sometimes you don't.@@seanedgar164
For those who are considering magus Lucia kane. The mana and the copy effect are separate things. The copy effect wait for the next x cost spell even if the mana used isent created by magus herself. You can use the 2 colourless mana on anything first then used an x cost spell after and still get the trigger for the copy.

I have a question for you as a fellow grothama enjoyer, how do you feel about the idea of running him as pump spell votron. That's what I do and it's super fun. Plus who doesn't love giant growth effects.
@@JFroPrime I actually have the deck built to go one of two modes. One is Vigor where I have my whole board fight Grothama giving them all +10/+10 (cool with Devoted Druid). The other is Psychosis Crawler card draw mode. Both are fun. I think currently the only pump spell I run is berserk. A cool thing with the pump spell idea is pumping the opponents creature during the fight to make them deck out.

@@barnburner1238 It happens, not like Richard didn't dump a ton of power and have a ton of mana in one turn with my deck. I don't think Blanka was nearly as unbalanced as some of the comments are leading people to believe.
First game was such a stomp, but the second game was a great showing of everyone's decks. Well done to all the deckbuilders!
I believe that at 36:51 Altisaur should have died when equipped with skullclamp, since it had already taken 9 dmgs from fighting.

Eh it seems pretty on par with Tomer's spellslinger decks. Maybe the Spirit Guides were a tad too much, but it wasn't that bad.
I am loving the paper magic games are faster and feel more relatable as I play spelltable. Keep up the amazing content

Game one was about 45 minutes and game two was about an hour. There's a lot of dead space that gets cut where people are trying to decide what to do

Playing Grothama had to have been the greatest lack of oversight ever. That's intentional kingmaking as far as I'm concerned.
Glad to see two of my commanders: Magus Lucea Kane and Henzie show what they were capable of. Everyone got a chance to do their thing although Blanka being able to successfully fight Grothma and profit twice was crazy😂

This might’ve been my biggest issue. I never kill anybody quickly and never get past 3 lands. Whole new world tbh.

Roiling Vortex in a "casual" deck full of free spells is certainly a choice.
What is the deck if not casual? It is not competitive, that is for sure.
@@avall0nNn1992 High power, people seem to forget about that, you now that number 8 spot on the scale above a casual 7 and below that lower end tier 2 cEDH 9. hell some decks fall just shy of making it in cEDH because they cant interact enough and are just a turn or 2 to slow but still stomp casual decks. Korvold, Feather, Inalla, Narset, Edgar, and Chulane for some examples, you don't pull out any of these to play with an upgraded precon and think the precon has any chance at all. most normal casual decks even a precon has a decent chance of beating.
a deck not being cEDH viable doesn't instantly make it casual, if it did then my 20k valued Sen Triplets deck is casual because its not good enough for cEDH now but 4-5 years ago the same list would be.
Oh man Seth’s deck is super cool. Wish the tables power level was a bit lower but it was still sweet game/video. I really like toolbox using death triggers from the blitz, so sweet.

Phil actually made an illegal play at 11:20~ cause Blanka has a Ward 1 because of the Role Token Crim failed to reperesent
Ward is a triggered ability. You're allowed to target without paying the ward cost, your spell will just get countered.
The deck that has Simian and Elvish Spirit Guide is entirely unreasonable? Wow.

Unfortunately, there's no direct analouge to plains. I've seen metal energy used as wastes more than plains.
Lightning energy are yellow, that seems like the closest to a plains to me@@pixelbomb97

In fairness to crim, you can read the decklist for this and not think it will storm kill someone turn 4. You don't really see the power in full until it's being played. So yeah, it wasn't a good matchup, but he may not have realized that until he popped off.

As soon as I saw the Blanka, I knew where this was going. His ability to just murder people off of four to five mana is absurd, as Crim amply demonstrated.

i have a grothoma deck its realy strong and the number one rule is dont play grothoma when you cant kill it with your own creatures ever ever ever

ever since the Secret Lair released, I’ve been slowly building all the Street Fighter Commanders. Blanka storm is super fun! and if he’s allowed to stick to the board, he’ll more or less dominate games exactly like this, i’ve def had to make card decisions to purposefully knee cap him, to keep him fun and not kill someone the same turn he drops down
Everyone played green this week so Crim had to end the games as quickly as possible.
Henzie is my absolute favorite. Hyped to watch Seth get blitzed

It would, and also would have let crim die a turn earlier than he actually did

That Blanka deck might have been more powerful and less fun to watch than a "casual" Golos deck. Love the content overall usually.
Yeah, crim really chose pubstomping.deck for this week, they had to 3v1 just to barely beat him, and both games just entirely revolved around Blanka. I don't actually remember anything the other decks were doing other than playing that dinosaur.
Look at the decklist. It is a casual deck, just fast and hyper focused on the commander.
@@avall0nNn1992 Crim picked a high power commander on level with Korvold, Feather, Inalla, Narset, Edgar, and Chulane. Not cEDH doesn't make it a normal level. Some commanders are just so broken building the deck normally puts it far above normal casual decks and still not cEDH thats whats called high power. you can break down decks simply has 1. Random pile of cards in the right colors. 2. A decently planned out deck out of your bulk cards. 3. Precon/terrible commanders built well. 4. upgraded precons/casual decks. 5. High power decks, decks that pretty well stomp casual decks but crumble to cEDH levels of interaction, or cant out speed them by only getting to turn 5-6 kills. 6. cEDH the decks that consistently win by turn 3 if not stopped, or turn 4 for a tier 2 deck, or decks that are specifically build to stop those decks and drag out the game to win through grind.
@@atk9989 I agree, high power is still casual though. The thing is, the "high power" deck crim choose is in fact not high power in my opinion. This is a 150$ list without a lot of staples, it would crumble to real high powered lists since a lot of them are running super efficient interaction and and way better curve. The issue is that crims deck was better than the rest of the decks but this was because the other decks were Kind of poorly build. I looked at the lists and was stunned how high the curves were (except for Henzie, thats to be expected).

36:10 "I'm running out of my basics." You are aware that Vorinclex can get non-basic Forests? I play it in my cycling deck for the purpose of "draw 2 cycling activations that might also happen to fix your mana".
yup! I built the deck and there are not that many basics, but all the typed non basics in there for the color ID :). We all miss things and Seth did a great job of piloting the deck!
There's a guy in my pod who has this insane Magus Lucea Kane deck and just seeing her in the thumbnail gave me ptsd
I've never used Pokemon energy for lands, but now I'm doing that for every deck I play.
