And we all ran around in 1987 thinking that Rob Hubbard did the 2nd Monty on the Run.. but Rob told me "oh i swapped in some patches in the routine, and Benn did all the rest!" Im glad we met Benn, it was great fun!
I worked with Ben at Gremlin Graphics in the late 80s. He'd smoke his cigarettes down to almost nothing and he'd be improvising some great tune on the keyboards with cigarette ash going everywhere, with it still gripped between his fingers. Just an all round great bloke and great talent. So glad he was part of my life.
Your music was part of many childhoods past, we thank you so much, your life end too fast, while the kids were listening to your great nipper track, you tried to fill the naughtyometer like jack, your SID tunes sounds from one roof top to another, as fast a biggles fights from them tougher, you often seemed restless like a jumping mole, then I say goodby monty and good bye to you ben, I' really miss every last ninja fight, in 8-bit music your the SID-Future-Knight, as a kid I waited for every gremlin release, as an adult I can only say:“ Ben, rest in peace!“
I knew of Ben through his music like so many others. Since his death I have watched so many videos and realised what a funny and genuine person he was which sadly I will never get to meet and tell him just how cool he was. rip Ben and thanks for sharing this moment with this truly amazing soul.
Rest in peace Ben. I had a chance to meet you in London at Visa Roster gig some fifteen odd years ago. You played violin and flute and then we necked a couple of pints and it was fun. You were one of the legends.
I often started up a game only to listen to the music back then. Thanks so much for contribution to my childhood, Ben Daglish. You were a fantastic musician and person, and your music will live on. R.I.P.
Dear Ben ... rest in peace. Nobody could touch my heart on C64 music more, than with your talented music skills. However we have never met, I feel like you will be always in my heart. In Hungary C64 was very popular in the late stages, so many children could get known your masterpieces. We Love You! We always will!
Didn't know about his death till today. What a master for the C64. I was just having a great night with a few beers listening to some old chiptune songs and found out the sad news. I was an Amstrad owner but loved his music on all formats. God bless you Ben Daglish.
Just a humble cool laidback dude... With a musical gift that he shared with us C64 people. I remember him from his early compunet days along with his good friend Tony RATT Crowther. BEN & RATT.
I‘m speechless, although I never met Ben in person, he had a *major* influence in my life musically. It’s amazing to see the person behind the music in this video. His music will live forever and has left a mark in video game music history and beyond. RIP Ben.
I met him once at a Back In Time event, my friend stood outside smoking and we chatted to him about all sorts of musical instruments and he knew everything. We could have chatted to him all night.
I want to thank you for sharing this footage with the rest of the community, it's really great when people do unselfish things like this and share the goodness for all to enjoy.
What an insight into Ben and his music and talents. He comes across as a lovely, warm bloke, many of us felt like we knew him because we grew up with his music,it's such a shame that he's gone, would love to have hung out with the man for a day, many did and we all will miss him whether we met him or not. RIP Ben Daglish.
On behalf of myself and family, who have always been in wonderment, when listening to your many musical appearances at the Belper and Exile music festivals: Ben may you eternally RIP. I particularly was always in awe of how you command the stage in such the unique way only you could do. Ever finding time for those showing any interest in music, including the time spent teaching a crowd of Viking Stags how to sing as a choir. Ben your missed & remembered by many, thank-you for being a part of our World.
Another music genius has left us. What a legacy Ben leaves behind all those game tunes we grew up with and still enjoy today. Rest peacefully Ben dalglish🤗
Oh, how sad. I loved Ben's music. I know it's silly but I'd always hoped to speak to him or meet him one day. You know, when we're all older. It feels like we all should have so much more time, but I guess no one knows when they'll go. At his funeral, they should play the march from the beginning of Terramex, with a snare drum and trombone.
Although I was very aware of Ben, being a 48K Spectrum owner I didn't really 'cross his path' in the old days, and only started to find out about him when I saw him at a retro event a few years ago. What a bright spark - full of enthusiasm. I didn't know he was ill, so it was a real shock to hear he had died. Another 8 bit legend gone. My sympathy to his family and friends - but we still have his music.
This man made my childhood! Years later spent some amazing times with him at Stainsby, as much as his C64 music was fantastic, he was more than that - check out Loscoe State Opera! He did so much but had so much more to give. I miss him 😢 RIP BEN X
Wow, the first few minutes alone are astounding. It's easy to forget, no matter how intense and chaotic his music became, it was always calculated and deliberate. One of a kind talent.
Great footage. It's fascinating to hear Ben explaining the nuances of how his tunes had to be constructed to achieve some of the effects. The fact that the music sounded so awesome without appreciating the work that went into it really is quite humbling. RIP Ben.
Thank you so much for putting this out here ❤ Ben rocking away to his own tunes is quite the thing.
RIP Ben, thank you for the great music.
And we all ran around in 1987 thinking that Rob Hubbard did the 2nd Monty on the Run.. but Rob told me "oh i swapped in some patches in the routine, and Benn did all the rest!"

The game is over but the music remains.

30 years listening to his music, I am out of words, just found out he has passed away... RIP.

He did the soundtrack of the absolute #1 videogame in the world from the 80's during a certain periode. The last ninja.

His Kettle music is stunning. FOFT and 3d galax are also excellent. His Kettle music though from a structure perspective is just terrific
One of the nicest people I ever had the privilege to meet, his passing was a huge loss.

That is a very kind thing to say! Thank you so much!
Rest in piece, Ben. Your music has had such an impact on me and will have a permanent place in my heart for the rest of my life.
On the C64 he was a force to be reckoned with I remember, up there with Rob Hubbard etc.
Nice one Anthony and Nicola - that's a lovely tribute to him. Show's both the passion and the humility of such a special talent. RIP

RIP Ben! One of my childhood heroes. He and Rob are the reason why I started making synth music. They inspired a whole generation! 🎶
RIP Ben, every single one of your tracks stuck with me since childhood.

Starting around 8.25, his 'vocal instrument performance' of Thing is magical!
Absolutely wonderful footage. So nice to see Ben perform to the great Compunet TRAP demo, that I fondly remember gazing at in awe, many moons ago.
Another music genius has left us. What a legacy Ben leaves behind all those game tunes we grew up with and still enjoy today. Rest peacefully Ben dalglish🤗
