The Last Ninja on C64 has amazing music by Ben Daglish and Anthony Lees. We're taking a look at the Commodore 64 classic The Last Ninja and how Ben Daglish overcame the limitations of the Commodore 64 and used its SID chip as an instrument in itself. This music is great, it continues to influence and inspire musicians even now! And what about the DragonForce connection? How do Herman Li and Sam Totman link into this? Let's find out! Welcome to The Wastelands!
RIP Ben Daglish
I wasn't happy with how the DragonForce guitar solo cover turned out on this but I was running out of time so it's very raw.

was in the same class at school with Ben, cleverest kid at our school. Anthony was in the year above. Ben died way too early.
There is so much C64 music I love: Hubbard, Martin Galway, Chris Huelsbeck, Jeroen Tel, Tim Follin and many more, but almost every time when I hear something so good that I get goosebumps it's something by Ben Daglish. I am so grateful to have grown up with the C64 and to have experienced something as good as Ben's music!
R.I.P....Ben Daglish. And Thanks for the best days of my life....the time that being grounded was a blessing.
lol
Great and interesting video! I got The Last Ninja right when it was first released back in 87. My C64 soon stopped working but I never forgot the music through the years. Finally heard it again here on TH-cam about 4 year's ago. I never knew anything about the composer, thanks for making this video!
Best video game on C64. I was like 13 when it was released. Great times. Fantastic music ofc. RIP Ben, thanks for my favorite sound of childhood.
Ben Daglish what a great human & composer !!!♥
Given the limitations some truly epic music came out of the 8 bit era. It even made the load times bearable on occasion 😊
Ben was such a goofball sometimes. In the very best ways......Rip mr.Daglish🕊🥀
Muzykę z Last Ninja zgrywałem na kasety magnetofonowe, aby później jej słuchać
For all you Americans out there, it's not pronounced Chis Wick, it's Chis-ick.
Man that is sad. I remember recording onto cassette the level loading music onto taps. I think I preferred the music to the game itself. RIP BD! Thanks for the inspiration.
Thanks for sharing. We are who we are because of the impact people like Ben had on our generation.
I've loved playing that game since the mid 80's. Got my C=64 in 1985.
9:25 red commodore with a rob hubbard signature?
Dragon Firce should perform old SID Player video game music. Especially some Rob Hubberd music as well. Steve can play that triangle again.
Best video on youtube! (nr 2 and 3 cat vids). Ben's music shaped the early years of my life. And I'm also playing guitar lately. Would be nice to learn some The Last Ninja stuff.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thought i had found all the videos of could of Ben. Just stumbled upon this one. Was a great tribute. I would just add at the end when you spoke about the popularity of nintendo, sega and other japanese composers ; simply because the rest of the world had more exposure to them, id add the other great computers game composers to Bens name (like the post below did). Theyre so many great muscians out there to be discovered.
Ben was a legend! R.I.P. man!
BTW Revelations exist, including the Ben Daglish inspired solo, on the channel of Dragonforce.
This video brings back memories 😊👍👍👍
Thanks, glad you enjoyed!
Another awesome video
Thank you!
Retro game metal
That smokers cough... :(
Interesting video!
So Dragonfarce almost lifted the section wholesale.
With permission.
Can you explain how you play the harmony in your guitar interpretation?
Been a longtime, but I didn't video the harmony - just recorded the audio. But it's just a major third up from what I play in the video.
I think Muse can also claim Ben as a influence
nintendos could do music? i remember wipe out on ps 2 great music but that was just an mp3 by a real band. that does not count!!!!!
It's pronounced Da-gleesh
fan of both and its probably more tribute than plagiar
2:00 Your American pronunciation wong!!
Chiswick is pronounced Chis-Sick, not Chis-Wick!! 🤦♂
Chizik
Last Ninja soundtrack is better than anything Jarre did. And I like Jarre.
