    As a student taking Calculus, I can't stop hearing "cosign" as "cosine." 😂 It would be pretty great if I had a religious reason not to do Trigonometry.

    Dave Ramsey has talked about this countless times. I love seeing the biblical lessons when approaching finances.

    I used to watch a lot of judge Judy, and that show demonstrates the biblical principle very well on why you should never cosign on a loan. You will end up feeling betrayed and foolish. Court shows highlight so well why you should follow true wisdom from God's word. Another common issue on those shows was moving in with your bf or gf which can cause so many issues. Secular people believe there's nothing wrong with certain ways of living, but the truth is stronger than their beliefs and the natural consequences of their actions or choices will find them

    Mike been watching your videos and suggested channels for awhile now all the way from Pennsylvania. Yes I struggle with the full belief (Faith) part of this all, but I attribute it to my lack of self control and addictions. Would you be able to make a video tackling these problems? It would be greatly appreciated.

      Jeffery James you might want to pray like the one guy in the Bible who said, "I do believe, help my unbelief."

    Thanks for the video! Hope that you can include in your lineup a bible study on what it means to love the world. My cousin is also a Christian but is still addicted to travelling and shopping and sending too much that she's downing in debt. I want to open her eyes by telling her that the Bible says "do not love the world" or whoever loves the world hath not the love of the Father." Is this on point even? Thank you again!

    I’ve co-signed for my kids, my parents have co-signed for us and my siblings, their parents co-signed for them, and never a bump in the road. None of us would have ever had our first apartments or homes without co-signing. But Co-signing for a stranger is indeed a horrible idea. That is the business of a bank.

    Thanks Mike! Wow! mind blown. but it makes sense of the following verses: Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. James 4:14
    And having food and raiment *let us be therewith content.* 1 Timothy 6:8 and
    Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
    (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
    *But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.*
    Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. Matt 6:31-34
    But I say unto you, *Swear not at all* ; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne: Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King. Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black. But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil. Matt 5:34-37
    Either you trust God gives you what you need when you need it or you don't. If you don't have the money to give a friend you have no business promising it to a bank.

    Just a random thought came to me after these scriptures. How would a situation like this relate to rental property? Because most people purchase the property by loan and have balances that will not be paid unless they rely on a stranger “tenant “. That’s what came to me. Please elaborate if possible.

    So true. “I love them, so I’m going to co-sign” doesn’t work. If you love them, give them the money. If you don’t have the money, then you are wanting to give someone something you don’t have at the expense of someone else. Not good.

    • @jamesbarringer2737
      @jamesbarringer2737 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s not the way it works. In college, in every place I’ve been, students can’t get apartments without a parent’s co-sign. In my family, across three generations, not once has anyone in the family had a problem come up from co-signing for their kids. If someone is buying a house, giving them the money means giving them something like $300k or more. Or an apartment, they are simply paying rent and would not be able to get the apartment without a cosign, because their credit is too
      short. I understand not co-signing for strangers, but for your kids - if you’re that heartless your kids probably aren’t ever going to be Christians in the first place.

    Super late to the party but what I think I heard, kinda, sorta, is if you can solely absorb the surety without regret then yeah, help out a fellow. If you can’t, don’t risk it.

    Hey Mike. I know that her husband‘s job is to love and honor his wife, and put her first. If she needs a cosign, then isn’t that my duty as a husband?

    • @tjiloveconducting
      @tjiloveconducting 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Since God views you as one, and your finances should be shared, this shouldn't be an issue. A loan in a marriage should be taken out only if both parties in agreement that the debt is able to be repaid and is needed.

    mike, need your wisdom:
    My ex Husband wants to cosign a mortgage so I can have a place of my own for myself and our children. (I wouldn’t otherwise qualify for one on my own) Should I say no to their father co-signing a mortgage so we can have our own place to live?
    Does scripture say anything about that?

    • @azuniga2000
      @azuniga2000 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think if they can pay when you can’t then perhaps but this is more to help the one who co signs. If they can afford to become responsible to make the payments without getting themselves into further debt then they can be safe but if they can’t then they shouldn’t. Hope this helps!

    Question? My son is only 3 but does this mean when he grows up and he wants to move into an apartment in college I shouldn’t help him ? Maybe I should keep him in a dorm or at home until he graduates :) ! Lol I don’t think my parents co-signed my apartment when I was in graduate school. funny because my father always wants to be a co signer and my brother and I are always telling him no.

    • @MikeWinger
      @MikeWinger  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are ways of helping that don't involve cosigning. I think that I would explore those options first and be very hesitant to cosign.

    • @katethegreat4918
      @katethegreat4918 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      My dad said that since I don't have a credit score and if never had any apartment contract before they would ask for a cosine. he said he would co-sign for it but only after I paid him all of the money. Then, he would give back the money for each month after I had paid for that month.

    I think, IMHO, a "stranger" in the OT is one not born of the children of Israel. Exo. 12:19, 29:33 etc. Slightly different rules for "strangers". But everybody has an opinion, right? ❤️ 😊 ☮️
    15 He that is surety for a stranger shall smart for it: and he that hateth suretiship is sure.
