It doesnt go away i one day, make small goals ,getting out of bed spread ur bed and a good hot shower is a good start. Small goal keeps u motivated and satisfied and then next step is to aim higher.

I have so many shortcomings, but laziness is definitely one of the worst, and I didn't realize that so many of the 'reasons' I have for not doing what I should are really just 'lions in the street'. Great video, thank you, brother. God bless.

Oh man I needed this, thank you. I am very lazy and the Queen of excuses. I start and never finish, never commit. Help me Pray. I am sure trying to do better. We should all do something productive and helpful daily. My grandmother pulled a step stool up to the dish sink when I was seven and told me to earn my keep. I miss that women and how she taught me to be productive.

I am the chief among sloths. I've been sitting on here for I bet 10 or more hours and haven't did much else. Videos like this are a good reminder and motivator to do what God says is good and not be a lazy butt all day, so I'll go to sleep now since it is late and be more active tomorrow!

Yeah I'm super lazy. I want to overcome it but I don't have a church to go to and I don't have friends who are true believers to push and motivate me. I believe Jesus will help me and anyone who is being unfruitful. I'm a babe in Christ and I started my walk with him for a month so far. I desperately want to have a community of people to go around my city and preach at. I just need to overcome the comfort of laziness

@@chum3192 oh 😂 lol. Netherlands is nice I think just the weather sucks. How is Washington. Why are u lazy ? Is it a lack of motivation or something ? Are there not any churches around u that u can freely visit ? maybe u could sign up for a bible study and make friends there and ask them what church do u go to ? And make appointment to visit and meet them there :). Ask God in prayer for guidance and what steps u should follow , what the right church is for u etc.ask the Holy Spirit to overcome laziness and rebuke the spirit of laziness in Jesus Name Amen 🙌🏽🙌🏽

Hey, I've been at my new job for a week and am ready for a day off! Pray for me PLEASE!!
Frances Fisher me to man... ive haf many jobs and then look for excuses to just quit... but this time i need it and i prayed to God for a job ans now out of nowhere i have a job... a hard, hot job but a realy gun job... but one thing i can say is this, i try and gather as much work as i can so that i can stay busy... staying busy not inly builds skill in what im doing and more, but it also rushes time

I don't know if I'm lazy, or if I'm utterly depressed.
What about when anxiety or depression stops you from 'starting'. I understand they need to be overcome, but many don't even realize it's what they are dealing with. It must be understood, before it can be addressed. In my case, it's anxiety. I have those many unfinished projects around the house, but due to my central nervous system functioning differently (and I do hope someday everyone comes to understand you cannot think yourself into your cortisol regulating itself properly, it's not all in the mind), not due to laziness. It's something I've dealt with my entire life, but was labelled lazy or depressed, and it was only in the past 2 years that it was figured out to be an anxiety disorder (my physiological response is not a nervous habit or fast heart, it's fatigue, from the mental draining, hence the difficulty recognizing what it was). And here is what I mean when I say it must first be understood. I tried addressing laziness and depression, but nothing worked. Since coming to understand it is anxiety, it has been life changing. Now that I know what I'm working with, I have been finding some ways to address it, some is mental, some is medicinal (cbd, aromatherapy to calm, chamomile and the like), and some of it is learning what spikes my anxiety and removing myself from that, and finding what creates calm for me so I can keep moving forward. But I wanted to know what the bible says on it, to help my progress.

Um, all of these describe me. So how do you defeat it? It’s something I’ve dealt with my whole life. I may sound silly, but I really have a hard time with it.
I admit it but I’ve only temporarily fought it off.
I know it’s an old comment you can’t defeat it, you need Jesus to help you. I am lazy but I’m going one by one I do the dishes everyday, I’m starting to clean my room everyday, cleaning the kitchen. Starting tomorrow

I was just thinking about your analogy about the lazy person who puts their hand in the bowl but never finishes the job by bringing their hand to their mouth. It could also be taken a step further because the person doesn't bring their hand to their mouth they are not nourished by the food and they rob themselves of the joy of savouring the way the food tastes. When I'm lazy and let my space get cluttered and messy if I don't finish the task of cleaning up everything instead of doing a small tidy here and there I am never gifted with the satisfaction of getting the task done and off my plate nor do I have the satisfaction of having a clean room. Instead the task gnaws on my mind that I need to complete it making me anxious and frustrated it isn't getting done.

What if you have nothing else to do other than lay down? Is that still bad? I work out, but that's all I can do in life besides the basic stuff. That leaves me with many hours of nothing to do other than lay down.

Laziness and depression - are they identical?
No they are not the same.
But each one can be a consequence of the other.
Depression can easily lead to laziness & laziness can lead us into depression
They go along bcz maybe u want to achieve some goal but u cant because ur too lazy it leads to depression it could olso lead to jelousy when u look at others success and ur not getting anything done.

I study a lot, to the exclusion of other things (more often than I care to admit). Is study (including biblical doctrines, history, etc.) count as laziness if I'm studying instead of say, washing the dishes?
etherdemon studying is productive but don't use it to avoid chores. maybe better manage your time.
OKay, I live with hypothyroid. It's a condition that affects metabolism, energy creation and consumption. I also live with spastic cerebral palsy and this uses what energy I have; my brain constantly sends messages to my legs to make them spastic. I don't like living with hypothyroid. I can live with cerebral palsy. I hate having to constantly fight for energy which in turn uses more energy. I take medicines for what I live with but for my lifetime, I have always struggled with energy. The cerebral palsy uses more energy than if I didn't have it, but the hypo in the thyroid is the main problem. I want to work, I have a job and I do volunteer work at Church. I struggle for energy for those tasks. I've prayed for answers and healing/restoring.

@@MikeWinger I don't mean to come across as presumptuous. But your sarcastic and somewhat lethargic explanation made me think about making that comment.
I find laziness an incredibly difficult topic to grapple with. And I find often that people in the Church don't do it justice. The most commonly used verse is, "Idleness is the devil's playground, workshop, handiwork" (depending on translation used). And I find that people use the western notion of having a job as the antidote to this. As long as you have a job, you're not guilty of this. Or perhaps it stems from the school days of suggesting that, as long as you're up to date on your school work, you're not in the category of being defined as lazy. I have seen, however, that many kids have a beat on doing well at school, and many adults likewise with having a day job - however, I notice many who are not actually growing and appear to be comfortable in that very space.
I think how those of us who are saved should define idliness is not specifically in this cultural norm, however I do concede that it may be so for a select few. As western people, we tend to emphasize work over the types of choices we make informing what we do. Idleness is defined as not growing in your faith, primarily. I have once heard a statement by a secular author named Tim Ferris, who albiet wrote some great books on work/life strategies. I quote, “Being busy is a form of laziness - lazy thinking and indiscriminate action”. I would venture to say that it's even worse to be preoccupying yourself with something that you ideally shouldn't be doing than not doing anything at all. Both are dangerous. True. But there's something here that most people miss.
I have learnt that the misunderstanding can come from a skewed view of the Gospel. God permits and even spurs us to actively rest, and strive for nothing but to enter that rest, found in Christ. The Gospel mobilizes us through holding every thought captive, of course thoughts including those pertaining to what decisions and courses of action we need to take every day, in order to preserve the vitality of our walk in the Gospel. So to prevent burnout and bondage to willpower which obscure our spiritual vitality, (Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the LORD of Hosts) we should seek to do good works and learn to recalibrate. After all, what we preserve as believers is particularly the renewing of our minds. Over thinking is bad, and living out our salvation is necessary to maintain that too. But let's teach the balance rather that get people acting out of guilt and hence becoming a target for the devil to get us back into condemnation through dead works. Amen?
It's sinful because God designed people to work. Work is important because it's how people provide and care for their family, help their neighbors and community, or use the gifts God gave them for his glory. According to the Bible, laziness and reluctance to work are offensive to God.
