I really like the crochet blanket squares. I think the marble white to connect the squares will look perfect, and instead of seeing the beautiful marled one as the oddball, make it the FEATURED square since you said it was very special. The cabled sweater for your fiancé is amazing. He sounds very knitworthy.❤🧶
That dress is simply gorgeous and you are going to look so gorgeous in it. I am completely amazed at your rate of work - you must knit incredibly fast! I'm not slow, but I could never keep that many things going at once, and with a full time job too - phenomenal! Love your partner's sweater - those cables are really lovely. Good luck with everything and looking forward to seeing you in that dress in all your glory xx
I'm so impressed with like everything in this episode :D The wedding dress (of course), turning out so well!! the wale is awesome, that cable sweater,... And I'm right there with you with those Zing shorties! I've had the same troubles!
What a great podcast episode! I didn't mind at all that you were all over the place -- it felt like we were shown your creative process. You have so many cool things recently finished or newly on the needles. My favourite thing was Hugo the Humpback -- he's so cute!!! 🐋
Thank you so much! I feel like every episode I say I’m all over the place and you’re right, I think it’s just the way my brain works, especially when work is generally quite regimented and my hobby is where I get to be creative! Hugo is fab, I’m so unbelievably proud of him - I now want to make amigurumi everything!
Holy crap Emily! Here I was thinking I had taken on too much with 2 test knits and gift knitting... It all looks amazing. I am looking forward to seeing your dress done and that cable sweater for your partner looks amazing. Good luck with everything.
OMG - such good progress on your dress, it's going to be SO beautiful!! And your Partner's cabled sweater is off to an amazing start, looks so good too! I can't wait to see both the blankets when they're finished. On the fingering weight blanket, I think the darker square will work out fine with a neutral edging color. I still love all the colors in the DK so much, they're so cheerful and lovely! Your dog was so cute with your whale; I wished I enjoyed amigurumi more - so many things are beyond adorable.
I’ve been exactly the same with amigurumi in the past, and I have no idea why I enjoyed this one so much but I think potentially because it wasn’t small like a lot are! The colours on the DK one are really good aren’t they, I almost feel bad because I’ve definitely taken the spotlight away from the fingering weight version with it haha
How cute is that whale ❤ I also cast on a lot of projects these days - but I convinced myself that in the end it doesn't matter if my yarn is waiting in my stash or in a project bag 😂
I've just found your podcast and its made me so happy to see another tall knitter 🥰 although i have short arms and a super long torso 😑 im constantly fighting the urge to make everything super cropped as knitting for my long ass body takes forever 😂 if i knit things to pattern they stop at my belly button...wth 🙈 your knits are gorgeous and your wedding dress is lovely! 🎉
I’ve discovered through knitting my dress, that my arms and torso are long, and my legs are actually quite regular length - it does make sense why like you, everything becomes a crop top if I knit it to pattern! 🤣
I loved your whale! It looks like a fun thing to make. Can you wash it though? I never know with stuffing if you can put it in the washing machine and it's one of the reasons I have not made any crochet toys for my daughter yet. For the blanket indeed I think the darker square doesn't fit with the others so much. I would make another one in a lighter color and make a dark background around them. The darker square can become a nice mat for your coffee if it is not too bumpy, you can crochet a cute border around it like an edging. The sock is also amazing!
This is a very good question - I don’t actually know if it’s washable! The yarn is probably gently washable but I may have to do some research and report back on the stuffing, that’s a very good point!
Lovely to see you. I got such imposter syndrome with sample knits & test knits that I had to give up 😢. Like you no one said they werent ok....stupid menopause lack of confidence thing.
It’s daft isn’t it! Imposter syndrome is exactly what it is, and it’s a shame because we’re good at our craft, sometimes we just get so much in our own way don’t we! I’m sorry to hear that Ruth 😢
Honestly, I think if it wasn’t being knit for a reason (and with a deadline!) I would have done the same, when you’re in the middle of what feels like miles of stockinette on the skirt it feels neverending! And clearly I am not one to talk about getting bored and casting on new things 🤣
Hi Emily I think the darker square for your blanket doesn't really go with the other squares also I'd use a dark colour for joining as it will enhance the lighter colours. Your wedding dress is fabulous, it's such a stunning colour and suits you so well. Love all your knits especially the jumper for your husband to be. xxx
Thank you Marion, the more I think about it the more I think you’re right and it doesn’t quite go! I think I need to redo it in a more in keeping colour and join with a dark background.
I saw that lovely sweater at the wool show amd bought a couple of blue fern beautifull yarns no plans yet 😅what needles do you recommend for sock knitting mine are awful too Can't wait to see your dress finished 😍
I’m so happy to hear you saw it!! In terms of sock needles, I have used extensively in the past the long knit pro zings - I’ve used both the 2.5mm and 2.75mm with the long cables to do magic loop, and they’ve been fine, and I’ve used them and some larger sizes to knit garments too. In terms of short circulars my favourite are the Addi Sock Wonder short circulars, they’re the ones that I reach for the most.
Normally I don’t have a problem - in this case I think it’s because the yarn I was catching was thicker than the main yarn, so it was basically just forcing its way through a little bit!
@@moiragarner1253 ah sorry I didn’t realise you meant in general! I learnt from TH-cam videos - I can’t think of a way to explain the technique in writing that will make sense but there are loads of videos on TH-cam that will show it really clearly and will show as well for whatever way you knit - continental or English style!
@@emily_knits_ Funnily enough, just after I wrote to you, it worked (typical). But I did have to click on it twice before the image (full-screen) appeared. Good thing, too, because I got to meet Hugo! 😍

Great sweater for other half. Love the cables. The white is too cute
I laughed when you said your hat looks like a bean on your head. 😂 I think it looks so good! The color is stunning on you!
