Ryobi 40V Battery Issues & Cell Harvesting

Happy New Year!
In this video we take a look at the issues around the Ryobi 40V packs. I am finally posting this video because several viewers have asked about these on different occasions. It is not a repair and I did not take the most time editing. It is more negative than I like my videos so I basically scrapped it. If it helps someone well here is my take. We have two of the older style 2.6AH packs and one newer style. All three have the same issue I was fighting with my 40V set 4 or 5 years ago, the BMS board is allowing (or pulling) the cells all the way down to Zero Volts! In the end its all just my humble, honest opinion wrapped in my experience with the platform as well. I have harvested lots of cells from these packs and some still have good capacity. sometimes around half of the cells are beyond useful. Every time I have taken the time to replace around 20-40% of the cells to attempt pack repair, the packs always fail again in the same manner in a short period of time. At the end of the day I still stand behind the idea of making a adapter plate and run the tools from two 20V packs or some other 40V pack! Hope it helps and Thanks for Watching!
