    I'm not sure how this helps making a buying decision. It gets compared against OLED in an entire different price leave, and a gaming monitor, which is mostly used with PCs rather than consoles. I would have liked to see it compared against other TVs from competing brands to see if this one is indeed faster.

    G-sync? Perhaps better to stick with the free open standard for Adaptive Sync instead. Then we might see it utilized on consoles to. And Nvidia might actually have to start suporting standrds to :P

      The problem with FreeSync is GPU market share. There are nearly 4x as many discrete GPUs out there with G-Sync support as FreeSync, so if you adopt FreeSync, you've ignored the significant majority of the gaming market. Of course, this could change if consoles or nVidia GPUs added support for FreeSync.

      haha the whole premise is fucked, heavy gamers almost always have a 24" 144hz monitor or better, and no reputable gamer is switching out a few of those for any tv.

    • @TheDyingScotsman
      @TheDyingScotsman 7 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      Some of us don't care about playing crappy mainstream twitch shooters and 20-30ms input lag is indiscernible when playing other DECENT games. A sony bravia is amazing for gaming and affordable. No lag (and I'm very sensitive to it actually), amazing picture quality too.
      I don't care about 4k. 1080p is good enough. Fuck having a 24" monitor LOL dm sanchi - you are wrong. Most heavy gamers do not have a 144hz monitor. A very small minority do. I'm a heavy gamer and my Sony is perfect for that and shits all over many monitors (and I've had many good ones). You guys really are just being very picky. I love quality, but I'm not gaming on a 24" tiny screen lol.
      I have a monitor I use as a 2nd screen, has great picture quality, 2ms response time and I wouldn't ever game on it again after going to a big screen. If you're anal and care so much about pixel density etc, good for you, but don't label all gamers as idiots just because they don't sit in front of a tiny screen

    Please Linus do not encourage manufacturers to implement G-sync on their montitors/TV but Freesync. We hope that adaptive frame rate synchronization will be a standard technology soon and if we encourage the Nvidia based technology, we will have to pay for it.

    This tv seems awesome, and there is nothing worse than input lag when gaming. I still thought it was weird though when 4k tv's started coming out and a lot of people where like man it's so crazy it looks so amazing. And they do they look great but my friends were all thinking of buying them and I started telling them how they were insanely overpriced especially because it's not like 4k is some new technology and convinced them to wait till they go down which they have tremendously. They're only lime 500 bucks for a 50 inch now. Really the resolution is 3840x2160 so there's 3840 pixels in a horizontal line and 2160 pixels in a vertical line so the size of your tv affects how big the pixels actually are. My friend used to have a 32 inch 1080p tv and I have a 22 inch 1080p tv (for my pc mostly) one day we were set up playing a game with both our tvs so we didn't have to split screen and he kept looking at my tv and saying man your tv looks better than mine. really it was just because the pixels were smaller on my tv and we were close enough to see the difference. He had a sharp aquos or what ever they were called and mine was an RCA I bought for 150 dollars from the drug store. This was 5 or 6 years ago but a couple years later all of a sudden there's talk of these ultra hd tv's and it's like ok and then 4k but I started thinking more about it and really since the time 720p came out they pretty much had the technology to make 4k tvs. Theres a huge difference between the pixel size of a 20 inch, 720p tv and a 60 inch, 720p tv. But the pixels on a 20 inch 720p tv are the same size as the pixels on a 60 inch, 4k so they could have made 4k tvs like 10 or 15 years ago, they probably would have been clunky as shit but it was possible. but that's the way it is and has been for a very long time. they have the technology but if they sold the newest technology right now then what would they sell you tomorrow? same reason companies make products that will break after about 2 years. But they have the technology to make insane tvs like 16k resolution or even better than that and i mean they could do it right now in fact they probably could have done it years ago. think about it your smart phone is probably 1080p probably better and it's only say a 5 inch screen for math purposes so if you used the same size pixels and doubled the screen size that's 4k on a 10 inch screen. Double again that's a 20 inch 8k tv. Double again that's a 40 inch tv at 16k. Totally possible and most phones like i said are better than 1080p so it would be more than that. What's crazy is that you think can fit about 60 pixels from your phone screen into one pixel on a 40 inch 1080p tv because 1080p has something like 2 million pixels and the theoretical 40 inch 16k tv (which would have the same size pixels as my phone) would have 128 million pixels which would mean in the place of one pixel on a 1080p 40 inch tv there would be 64 pixles. All of that really made me think what the hell when I first saw a tv that was 4k which meant it was double the resolution of my tv but was also double the size at 44 inches which means the pixels in both tvs were the same size there was just 4 times more of them. But instead of 4 times the price of my tv which would have been 600 dollars or even twice that at 1200 just because its the new cool thing. but no, they started at like 3000 and that's not even for a good brand. as if it was some crazy thing like we were so lucky there R&D department made this new tv when really they just used the same stuff they had lying around in the factory. they didn't struggle to shrink the technology down it was already shrunk, and it was right in front of our very eyes yet they are selling it almost like it's new technology. They literally had to just take 4 20 inch 1080p tvs and stick them together and boom. you got yourself a 4k tv
