    The Triangle Offense only works well with players who are great cutters and decision makers.
    This is why the Bulls and Lakers were so successful winning games and championships in the past under the coaching of Jackson and Winter, the masterminds of T.O.

    This is probably the biggest difference between Jordan/Kobe and LeBron. People always talk about his passing ability and bball iq, but he has no capacity to work within an offense. It's 100% LeBronball with him isoing and the other 4 players standing on the perimeter waiting for him to pass after pulling a defender. When teams can guard him reasonably well 1v1 and shut down the passing lanes and 3 line, his teams get blown the fuck out because they have no ability to generate offense any other way.

    • @calebjabez8426
      @calebjabez8426 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Kobe had Phil Jackson coaching him for over a decade. If Lebron played with Phil, he would probably play triangle as well if not better than Kobe.

    • @alessandrostella9982
      @alessandrostella9982 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@calebjabez8426 I think it's unfair for LeBron the statement of this guy above. It's true, he'd probably be a great triangle offense player. But man, Kobe had a complete understanding of every roles, he had a precise knowledge of movements, schemes and spaces. During training he use to coach the triangle offense, cause he knew how every guy on the court was supposed to move. This was not just a unique talent, but a consequence of yeares of study of tactics in Italy first, and in America later. May he rest in peace

    What you call, "FLOPPY " is Triangle Offense's "SINGLE-DOUBLE:"
    1.) Initial ballhandler passes to a wing and dives under the basket.
    2.) The wing receiver of the 1st pass dribbles to the Top of Key.
    3.) Initial ballhandler has 2 choices = cut off the SINGLE down screen
    or cut off the DOUBLE -Staggered screen

    Kobe Bryant BREAKS THE FLOW. 😎😎😎
    Gets a Free Pass similar to Michael Jordan, who did the same as Kobe, because of both guys ELITE 1-on-1 skills that most NBA Players don't possess.

      Also a lot of the time triangle was effective the most when they isolated Kobe and Jordan at the pinch post, so they ran it a lot for them. Also shows how good 1-on-1 players they were :)

    @mjmitch33 yes there is. Back to the basket below FT line extended while dribbling there is a 5 second count. Actually, If you look close at 4:14/4:15 when Bryant takes a dribble, the official on the baseline does in fact start his 5 second count, but terminates it when Bryant shoots.

    +mjmitch33 It isn't the Barkley rule or the Shaq rule. It was dubbed the Mark Jackson rule because he as a PG, tended to put other point guard on his back for excess of 15 or so seconds and break them down that way.

      D-Rose is the PG, so he determines what plays get ran. The gang rape case kept him away from Preseason practice. Triangle Offense takes time, D-Rose & Noah has experience in the Triangle because Coach Thibodeau used parts of it. The 2-man game with Rose & Noah on the Left Side (with 3 players on the Weak Side )was working earlier in the season. Teammates want to run EASY pick & roll for 80% of game, very narrow-minded.

    Great video, The I think the celts defended the triangle pretty well, they broke down a lot of plays, so the lakers had to just pick and roll and iso

  • @lilsteve601sms08
    @lilsteve601sms08 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @elvisniperx Yeah that was a travel by Walton. He never took a dribble. And, just to clarify, you can release your pivot foot. You just can't put it back down without taking a dribble, passing the ball, or shooting the ball. In this case, Walton put his pivot foot back down slightly before passing the ball so it should have been a traveling call.

    • @shyshka_

      Actually the real problem is that they dont have a good post playmaker wich is CRUCIAL IN TRIA OFFENSE. And they have this guy melo who is all about getting his 25pts and walking away. And their defense sucks and they commit a lot of turnovers.

    • @Eastra3
      @Eastra3 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      фкегк игкфл ....exactly. The knicks have so many problems, but people want to blame a system that has barely even been implemented. If the Knicks players were good at running the offense and it didn't translate into wins, then you can blame the triangle, but people can't single out the triangle when---like you said---the team is depleted of a lot of talent, no post presence, and no defense. Phil came over to NY to rebuild. last time i checked, an offense cannot do the rebuild for you. You still need to get players to rebuild. So the Knicks were going to be bad last year regardless.
