My gramps really wasn’t an outdoors person. I alway wanted a log cabin on a small lake overlooking a mountain. Never happened. It is what it is. Your little peace of heaven is beautiful. Yep I have a snow dog at my cabin in Alaska. Driving that thing is like trying to steer an ox by using strings attached to its ears! I have modified the handle to a more forward position and it helps a lot. It does pull a load. It also grooms ski trails and pulls logs. Keep the adventures coming.
Right on, I learned a lot about it during the trip as you will note in the coming videos. I shimmed up the handle so it is higher than you get without the mod. I prefer to stay standing and like a little short sled so I can step back and walk for climbing beaver dams and such. Boy did we haul the logs while we were there. I do think I want to make a hitch coming off the low side of the machine so I can help prevent the easy tipping by shifting weight on the groomer. I am checking on youtube for those that have already done the experimenting.
Man, you really are a motivation to those of us who tend to be sitting in the sofa a little to much during winter time! You're definitely not afraid of a bit of struggling, and that is a good lesson for many of us!

Went back to the cabin with another neighbor last Wednesday. You must have left the day before. We used a log to level our logging road east of your cabin in the 70's but we had a tractor. Thank Vonnie for the pies.

So many comments about buying a trailer or a truck. Yes, that would make it easier, but then it's less of a challenge. The system Martin has seems to work fine for him, he's not one to complain. I see that his ribbing of those retirees has already paid off, maybe the others will follow suit and try to impress. (but if poor Martin has nothing to do when he gets up there, all we'll get is him baking and eating stuff). Great first trip for the Snow Dog. Could probably rig a "v" type plow that doesn't dig too deep to sit on and clear a path with the Dawg or just pack it down with a few passes.

Not scuffing anything was the goal too. Seat belts are probably the most secure bolt in the whole vehicle as they are made to withstand anything with no fear of rusting out.

Oh we hit the pudding and the pies and still lost weight. The Dawg is great but not a calorie free ride when working it hard.

50th was a quiet affair with Covid around, had to do take-out at our fav place.
Slick little rig. Now all you need is a 4x4 pickup and life would be piece of cake out there in the winter.
I opt for the enclosed SUV even if it does have limitations. Nice to have everything out of the roadspray and dry.

my dear brother, Martin, taught me how to pack my van for art shows when I traveled. Every inch was used and nothing rattle anymore !
A tape measure is needed for proper packing. When someone moves I am the man in the van putting things in place.
