Martin, the new guest cabin has me puzzled. Do you have enough guests at any one time they cannot be accommodated in the cabin? The snow dog is a good work tool but it is noisy and totally shatterers the tranquility about the place there, but I guess it serves the purpose . Still eating high on the hog I see👍
Good points! The guest cabin is only because I do not want all the dying Tamarack to be wasted. The first goal is to peel the trees and stack them. If I never finish the cabin is no big deal. The cabin is for others. Others may visit if they know they are not infringing on my cabin solitude. If the cabin does rise I would want to get a roof on it to protect the wood. I will be 70 in March and as time passes I know concessions have to be made if I want to keep traveling to the cabin. There enters the putter of the Snowdog.

Great vid Martin, hope all is well. My 1st grader son was built a snow dog out of Lego after watching your vid last week 🤣 I joined the Subaru Outback club last Saturday, much better ground clearance than the Honda Civic and Honda Odyssey.
Martin, this is Pete watching with Little Red on her laptop. At around the 13 min mark she looked at me and said " I didn't know Martin had a dog - where could it have gone"? HaHaHa... I'm still laughing!!
There is a channel called Survival Russia where Lars has a snow dog. He rides kneeling on a pad in the sled and only on one knee. His terrain has a lot of low spots and ruts like some of yours. He has a few tips on making a sled with skis on the bottom. He pulls the sled over the log by hand and lifts the front of the log with a ratchet strap and hooks onto the log. Off he goes. He doesn’t have to fight breaking the log loose etc. he has no roads where he lives just ruts and mud. Might pick up some good tips on the snow dog from him. He uses it like Alaskans do dog sleds. Only down side is they look like so much fun you forget to get work done. PS his starts at -40 C or F at that temperature they are the same.
"Rover" sure is earning his keep, although he is quite noisy. Nice to see Jim enjoying those pies, AND helping out! He still reminds me so much of my Dad.
You've got me wanting one of Vonnie's pies. Maybe if I make a reservation at the Air B N B you'd be nice enough to share one hey? Sno Dawg looks like it's earning it's keep.
Hey Martin. Frank the technician here. Advice...connect 2 small gauge wires from one of your solar batteries to keep dog battery charged. Simple process. And...that dog isn’t going to last long pulling logs as it wasn’t meant for them heavy loads. It’s eventually going to wear out the automatic clutch very easily, you’ll see.
Thanks Frank, I know I am pushing the Dawg past normal limits. I have a dealer nearby if I tear something up. It will be easy to put in a bigger battery. I have gone to using the starter rope when its cold. The track seems to slip before bogging the motor so that may help on the overload.
Weld a 1/4 inch rod down the centre of your wheel barrow bowl from front to back this makes it more stable when following the Machine! It will be less likely to slip out under your feet.
I enjoy your videos a lot more than the wife.😁. Out you a hitch on the Subaru and get you a good hitch hauler. You could just drive it right on from the side.

Damn Martin, the suspense!
God bless.
Thanks, next week we work that Dawg.
Well, that was fun! It was a far rougher ride when seeing the view from the sleigh, Santa. Thanks, Martin!
Yes it was!
We had an old oliver diesel tractor we used to build a lil fire under the engine to warm up. Worked good
Oh wow!
Martin, YOU'RE DOGGIN' IT! Nice to see the haul closer to its future forever home. Just wondering, how much fuel the Dawg is using on a daily basis? You make work look like fun. On top of that, you have pizza, pies, & chocolate. Sign me up...
About a quart an hour for how I used it. We used 7 gallons in our trail packing and hauling about 100 logs a third of a mile.
@@TheNorthwoodsman1 now I know why you eat so good! That must of taken a couple of days or so. This build is so exciting to watch, must be so much better to be hands on and working it. Wow, that is a lot of work already and you haven't started building yet. See ya next time...
Good morning! 3am coffee with Martin's cabin. Enjoy!
Morning!
Thanks you my friend 💕💕💕 hello vonnie
Hello 😊
What are you going to come up with next, o well,I guess I will check in to see, be safe, stay warm.
I wish I knew but stuff seems to keep coming.
5 seconds in... mouth starts to water. 🤤
Then my goal was achieved!
Lol I notice you got some practice in before you took us you wanted to look a pro well we appreciated it that you did not bury our face in the snow lol great seeing some how I lost the channel but hey I’m back
Thank you!!
HAPPY THEY AER STILL WORKING FOR YOU.
Your solar engineering works great 👍
Yes they do, simple and cheap too.
God blessings be w/you, Martin & yours!!! Was that a wheel barrel, top used, when you where smoothing down the path way, in the begining of the video?? Man o man, that fresh fish, yummmm. So wonderful to see, that friends are stoping by & leaving goodies & Jim, is there to help out in this video!! Well, we all got to go on a vertial ride along, on the snow dog. That sure looks like a, recyle of a wheel barrel w/chain on it & the end of the video, by those logs. Hummmm?? Do take care. (Fl.)
You nailed it Jean, a better view next week.
Well, at least with the snow dog you don't have to feed it with pies and pizza like you do Jim!
Good point.
Fresh fish….. Yum!
Martin, have you ever cooked on a campfire at your cabin, ala the great old westerns?
We used to a lot but not much anymore. Sure messes up the shiny pans.
@@TheNorthwoodsman1 I would imagine that would happen. Might make for a great video though.
Also, thanx for the views of snowy scenery. We’re supposed to get some snow this Monday in NJ, but you never know.
Happy new year Martin, the guest cabin will be up in no time. I hope you lose a shoe this trip so we get few extra videos.
We shall see but that ruse may not work the 25th time.
Great vid Martin, hope all is well.
My 1st grader son was built a snow dog out of Lego after watching your vid last week 🤣
I joined the Subaru Outback club last Saturday, much better ground clearance than the Honda Civic and Honda Odyssey.
That is awesome!
The snow dog cost more than the cabin! Looks like a great place to reflect with our lord
So true!
Nice!!!!!( Be Careful Out There!)
Thank you, I will
Martin, this is Pete watching with Little Red on her laptop. At around the 13 min mark she looked at me and said " I didn't know Martin had a dog - where could it have gone"? HaHaHa... I'm still laughing!!
Surprise surprise about the Dawg.
Thanks, I will see what he can teach me. Next week you will see some work being done.
"Rover" sure is earning his keep, although he is quite noisy. Nice to see Jim enjoying those pies, AND helping out! He still reminds me so much of my Dad.
Rover survived a lot as you will see next week as we really haul the logs.
You've got me wanting one of Vonnie's pies. Maybe if I make a reservation at the Air B N B you'd be nice enough to share one hey? Sno Dawg looks like it's earning it's keep.
We plan to have fresh pies at the Airbnb when guests arrive.
@@TheNorthwoodsman1 Well now, that sounds just fine to me. Keep me posted when advance registration begins.
Is that woodpecker sending you a morse code message ? "Send..more..cherry..pies"😂😂
!!!!!!!
You got the same message I did !!!!!
Good idea, they could relay the message south to Vonnie.
Coming up, a new video on my channel making not only cherry, but black raspberry, apple and peach pies!!! Coming soon Vonnie

Martin, just to clarify...
That's Vonnie at the Southern Command, correct ?
I plan to adapt a few of the barrow bowls. One to track straighter and one to set ski track. Yeah it could be a wild ride with the smooth bottom.
I enjoy your videos a lot more than the wife.😁. Out you a hitch on the Subaru and get you a good hitch hauler. You could just drive it right on from the side.
I do have a hitch hauler on the Durango but at 300 pounds I think the Dawg a little heavy for the outback
I had a friend build one out of heavy steel tubing. It’s pretty heavy but would hold 300 easy.
It is just that it would b sagging pretty bad with that much weight hanging off the rear.

Pretty good Martin ware it looks new. Yummy, fresh fish. You are really living the life.....
Chocolates and Vonnie's Pies. Have you ever drizzled any dark chocolates over your yummy cherry pie? Thanks oh loved the Chick a dee dee dee dee chirps and the ratattatt of the woody woodpecker too...
Never mixed my dark chocolate, pies need no help.
Tell Jim I said...........Semper Fi!
I will.
"Semper Fi" Zorbawon.
You're awful tough on the help 🤣
Spare the rod or something like that.
@@TheNorthwoodsman1 The help enjoys every bit of it.
have fun
No problem there.
My father would use the Sterno method on tractors (diesel) where the fuel had gelled in the cold. Build a tent over it. Problem solved.
So simple too. Just need to take the edge off that cold.
Like the snow dog- Really impressed w/ power & pulling capabilities- What size will your new cabin be? Have you been satisfied w/ dimensions of your old cabin? Happy New Year!
Yes we are. The old cabin is enough. The new cabin will be a little bigger at 14x16 inside. It will higher too and harder to heat but so be it. Still not sure on exact design. Porch on end or side?
Is the snow dog better than using a four wheeler or a snow mobile ? Glad to see you have some cheery fueled help or black raspberry help !
Cheaper and more compact
@@springfield03sniper thanks
And lighter too for when it gets stuck.
