From director George Miller, originator of the post-apocalyptic genre and mastermind behind the legendary “Mad Max” franchise, comes “Mad Max: Fury Road,” a return to the world of the Road Warrior, Max Rockatansky.
Haunted by his turbulent past, Mad Max believes the best way to survive is to wander alone. Nevertheless, he becomes swept up with a group fleeing across the Wasteland in a War Rig driven by an elite Imperator, Furiosa. They are escaping a Citadel tyrannized by the Immortan Joe, from whom something irreplaceable has been taken. Enraged, the Warlord marshals all his gangs and pursues the rebels ruthlessly in the high-octane Road War that follows.
Tom Hardy (“The Dark Knight Rises”) stars in the title role in “Mad Max: Fury Road”-the fourth in the franchise’s history. Oscar winner Charlize Theron (“Monster,” “Prometheus”) stars as the Imperator, Furiosa. The film also stars Nicholas Hoult (“X-Men: Days of Future Past”) as Nux; Hugh Keays-Byrne (“Mad Max,” “Sleeping Beauty”) as Immortan Joe; and Nathan Jones (“Conan the Barbarian”) as Rictus Erectus. Collectively known as The Wives, Zoë Kravitz (“Divergent”) plays Toast, Riley Keough (“Magic Mike”) is Capable, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley (“Transformers: Dark of the Moon”) is Splendid, and supermodel Abbey Lee is The Dag, and Courtney Eaton is Fragile. Also featured in the movie are Josh Helman as Slit, Jennifer Hagan as Miss Giddy, and singer/songwriter/performer iOTA as Coma-Doof Warrior.
The cast is rounded out by well-known Australian actors John Howard and Richard Carter, supermodel Megan Gale, Angus Sampson, Joy Smithers, Gillian Jones, Melissa Jaffer and Melita Jurisic.
Oscar-winning filmmaker George Miller (“Happy Feet”) is directing the film from a screenplay he wrote with Brendan McCarthy and Nico Lathouris. Miller is also producing the film, along with longtime producing partner, Oscar nominee Doug Mitchell (“Babe”, “Happy Feet”), and P.J. Voeten. Iain Smith, Graham Burke and Bruce Berman serve as executive producers.
The behind-the-scenes creative team includes Oscar-winning director of photography John Seale (“The English Patient”), production designer Colin Gibson (“Babe”), editor Margaret Sixel (“Happy Feet”), Oscar-winning costume designer Jenny Beavan (“A Room with a View”), action unit director and stunt coordinator Guy Norris (“Australia”), and makeup designer Lesley Vanderwalt (“Knowing”).
Warner Bros. Pictures presents, in association with Village Roadshow Pictures, a Kennedy Miller Mitchell production, a George Miller film, “Mad Max: Fury Road.” The film is scheduled for release on May 15, 2015, and will be distributed by Warner Bros. There really isn't much to spoil, that's why. It's a two hour car chase.
The true beauty is you can capture the whole film in the trailer, still watch the film, and it gives you the exact same rushes and chills as the 2min version. There’s absolutely no wasted shots, dialogue or effects in this movie, it is pure hi-octane perfection. Miller really showed us what we should expect from a sequel with this fucking Masterpiece

I saw this with low expectation, idk I guess hearing about many reboot and sequels I didn’t think too much of it. Saw in 4DX where the chairs moves. This blew my expectation and I really felt like I was there. Needing to catch my breathe every time they paused from the action. One of the best experience of my life. I enjoyed Furiosa, but there was something missing. Fury Road was a consciousness-shifting movie for me. I wasn't the same when I walked out of the theater. Furiosa felt more like a action-vengeance movie only.

Furiosa was amazing. It was great but its a different movie.
It also explains a lot about Fury Road. Like why Furiosa, who had suffered so much at the hands of men, ended up trusting Max. He obviously reminded her of someone from her past.
I think fury road deserve on cinema again on 2024 with director's cut.

That's the thing - this has lesa vfx than Furiosa. Most of the action scenes were practical stunts
I watched Furiosa and 90% of the SFX are still practical. What little CGI there is is quick and barely noticeable.
I feel people really need to watch Furiosa becauae if you like practical SFX you won't be disappointed.

I really hate this because I watched Furiosa and its amazing. It looks incredible too, 90% of the SFX are still practical, IDK they made it look like it was a CGI fest in the trailer because there's actually very little CGI in the movie and it's very brief.
The sad thing is that we’ll probably never get to see another action packed & masterpiece of a film like this from the series.

Yep, people don't realize this, but Mad Max Fury Road used a massive amount of CGI, one of the most ever used by 2015. It's just done so well that no one notices. CGI is best when no one notice that it's there.

How come 8 yo film still looks so much better and more real and gritty than its modern day sequel?
Less CGI and more composite work.
With low budget rather than CGI they would shoot the same stuff in layers and edit it together with heavy color correction to hide transitions.
New movie feels more "fake" since it is, Fury road even while filmed in parts, still you can tell first plan action is in camera, new movie just looks weird.

Not only one of the best action flicks ever made, one of the BEST movies ever made all-around. Absolutely stunning with no flaws, IMO. Each and every character has a fully-realized story arc - not just Nux and Furiosa, but Max as well. To all critics saying the titular character was underdeveloped... just remember, he was the reluctant hero trying to survive when he realized by the end that he couldn't just walk away from a noble cause again. Not until his mission was complete. He began the film as a 'feral' reduced to being someone's blood bag... and ended it by rediscovering a part of himself lost along with the rest of the world he knew: a sense of empathy for others, a basic quality of humanity. If that isn't character development, please explain why!

People seem to mistake simple, straightforward, and effective for "dumb" or "lame," I've noticed. Just because a plot is complicated or complex doesn't make it better. If anything, it usually implies the opposite.
Mad Max had beautiful cinematography and editing, a memorable score, compelling and strong characters of both genders, and perfectly-paced action sequences.
The Force Awakens, while visually beautiful, wasn't really that spectacular. Their characters weren't that memorable and I felt like I was watching a rehash of A New Hope -- I'm not saying that's bad because it actually brought a nostalgic feel :)
I really enjoyed TFA, but Mad Max was a masterpiece that set the bar pretty high for modern-day action flicks. Definitely one of the more memorable films of 2015 for me :)

The academy is such a joke, they don't even vote for the film the think is the best picture; they vote for what they think, the conservative audience wants. Best example: Brokeback Mountain. The story was simple BUT it was groundbreaking. A gay romance film in theaters?? It made people talk and think.
Joel Figueroa The academy is indeed such a joke, Rio 2 had some damn impressive songs that even outclass many of the disney films clearly deserved oscar for best original song. Seriously, say what you will about that movie but those songs were masterpieces. They were staged perfect, sung perfect, sounded and composed perfect, and helped to advance the story and show us how the characters felt and fuel the emotions and drama perfect.
BUT NO, we can't even nominate the muppets most wanted, instead lets just WHORE out the oscar to all the popular end of the year movies like selma and big eyes. You are so right. Dark and/or philosophical Movies like that are always needed in society, but after 2008 and movies like Food Inc. and the Dark Knight (both great movies). People think that these and movies that act like they're like them are the only movies that are appropriate for adults and movie awards and anything wanting to not be super philosophical and acting like it's super serious and "edgy" are unworthy of the oscars and positive approval.
Emos are necessary in society, but this emo/nolan influence/prejudice needs to be stopped and people need to realize happy movies are on the same level as depressing/edgy movies.

It's very rare that a movie trailer is so epic that it almost brings a tear to my eye. In fact, this is the only one that I can even think of that gave me such a blast of emotions. The movie itself is a masterpiece. Honestly the best movie I've seen since The Dark Knight.

+narti cara I was late on The Revenant but that was an awesome movie! The picture and direction were up there MMFR, funny it also had a pretty basic plot (not that's really a bad thing). Just that single shot battle scene at the start had me sucked in and everything after that was just as good. Especially that Bear attack scene, man! I thought that was a real trained bear at first! I don't want to spoil too much for anyone but the movie has tons of intense scenes like that.
