    I'm amazed at how easy it was to install, setup, and use the brand new Philips Hue Bluetooth enabled light bulbs. Watch me setup a colored, white ambiance, and white bulb to my iPhone quickly and easily using the new Philips Hue Bluetooth app. What other smart home devices should I try out? What other Philips Hue lights should I show off how to use? Tell me in the comments!!

    Great video, I have some questions:
    1. In a dark room, just how dim can the bulb really get before the bulb completely turns off if you know what I mean, say with the white ambiance version?
    2. Since you can set this up with Bluetooth, does your phone ALWAYS have to have bluetooth turned on for the bulb to function, or after you set the bulb and you have your ideal settings can you then have bluetooth off on your phone and the bulb will still turn on/off from your light switch with the settings you initially put?
    3. You said it is also possible to connect the bulb to wifi, does it have to be 2.4 ghz or can you also connect the bulb to the 5 ghz network on your phone?

    I’m going to change all my bulbs in home just to get a full Philips Hue System, but I have a question. Are the color bulbs worth? I mean, do you really use them like in differents colors or something? I ordered 4 ambience and 4 color + ambience just to try and see if I can see a worth difference but anyway I really want to know the opinion from some one who really use them maybe the first days I’ll be happy changing the colors and that but, in a real life scenario you still using and exploding the color capabilities or just use a regular set up?

    • @Justin_tech
      @Justin_tech  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think its worth having the color bulbs in certain areas around the home, but not everywhere! It's cool to have a splash of color in corners or hitting the wall or in lamps. Ceiling lights I think are overkill. I use a cool canister fixture (link in video description). I think it's cool to have one or two color bulbs in each room, but majority of lights should be ideally ambience white. I like having cool light during the day (wakes you up) and warm white in the evening. Let me know if you have any other questions!

    I just switched all of my lights from LIFX to Phillips Hue and I don't think I've ever been happier. I will say, I miss the brightness of LIFX because let's face the facts, LIFX puts out more Lumens... It's brighter overall and there's no getting around that but Phillips Hue is no slouch and us easy to get used to with some eye training. I got the Light strips, 3 Play Light Bars, and 6 White and Color Ambiance bulbs. Love them!! I also got the Bridge and Remote. Still thinking about going back and getting one or two Go Lamps for floor accents. Idk yet. I love that I don't have any of the connection issues with the Phillips Hue bulbs that I suffered through with LIFX. The only thing that's a pain is the incredibly long update process for the bulbs which I have to do before each bulb will even think about working with SmartThings.

  • @MrAnugar

    Hello,
    I have a problem. I have two bulbs connected to a Hue dimmer. I got today an extra white and color ambiance bulb that comes with the hue bridge. I was able to connect the hue bridge and created a room with it on the app, and it's all good. Problem is that I cannot connect my lights linked to the dimmer to my hue bridge I guess, because the lights appear in the app, but it says "Impossible to establish the link" (translated from french so legend in english could be slightly different). Also, when I try to add the dimmer in accessories a similar thing happens. Thing is that dimmer had been active much before the hue bridge. What could I do to add my lights connected to the dimmer (and the dimmer itself) to the rest of the room in the app? Any ideas?
    Thanks for the video btw! :)

    quick question, what is the hue bridge for? do i need it for app control?

    • @Justin_tech
      @Justin_tech  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The hue bridge allows you to create more scenes and routines with your lights. it also allows you to create rooms and zones for your lights so you can control multiple lights at a time and create scenes. Without the bridge, if your Hue lights work with Bluetooth, you don't need it. I recommend the bridge for everyone who wants more control - the bluetooth app is pretty limited and only allows up to 10 lights I believe.

    Justin, thanks for the video; even a year later. I have a question that is important hope you or someone who reads this can answer. I tried Philip's LIVE CHAT and they were worthless. I am considering getting three Hue White and Color for the 3 bulbs over my kitchen counter. They all work off one on/off switch. I know I have to install each manually. I'm not real tech savvy. My question is: once that is done and they are in: is there a way so that I can change the color and ALL THREE will change at the same time? Or do I have to do EACH bulb individually? Thanks much!

      @@Justin_tech Wow, THANK YOU, the set-up is very informative and clear. One last question so I can be sure. I only care about 1 thing: the 3 bulbs on one switch. Do I need to purchase a BRIDGE for that? Or can I run the 3 bulbs together as you showed without a bridge if there is only one switch being used?

    • @Justin_tech
      @Justin_tech  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes they will all work with the light switch, but I'd recommend getting the bridge if you want to do the more advanced settings and it you want to invest in Philips Hue switches for scenes. The normal light switch you have will cut the electric from the lights causing them to not be able to get controlled by the app.

    Hey Justin, Could you tell me the difference between Hue Bluetooth and the Bridge ? Does the bridge have more addition ?

    • @Justin_tech
      @Justin_tech  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes! So the bluetooth bulbs will work with your phone and voice assistants (Google and Alexa). The bluetooth app only allows you to control one device at a time. The bridge opens your setup to even more possibilities (and I definitely recommend having one especially as your Hue lights increase). The bridge allows you to create rooms and zones for your lights so you can control a bunch of lights at a time. You'll also be able to set them up with Siri/homekit with a bridge. You'll also need a bridge if you ever get the Philips Hue Sync Box (th-cam.com/video/cBXqiqBbKL4/w-d-xo.html). And lastly, the bridge allows you to connect your hue system to other smart home systems like Samsung Smartthings and Logitech Harmony which is important if you're trying to create an entire smart home. Hope this helps!

      @@Justin_tech Very informative !! Thanks very much. I already have the Hue bridge with 4 bulbs. I do enjoy them. I asked as I thought the bluetooth ones do the same job as the bridge. But not, unfortunately. I am planning to increase my home with Hue lights. Thank you very much :)
