£140 is very expensive for a 2 meter strip of lights but the black Friday deals have made this really tempting for £87. I like these way better than typical LED lights due to the gradients you can create.

6:13 integration is definitely the main reason for sticking with Hue despite the price. I also find their bulbs last a lot longer than competitors.

I have GoVee in my office at home. 3yr later some of the colors are dieing and what was white is now green and blue dots. Switching the house over to Hue. It's CRAZY expensive but I am hoping in the ling run it's worth it. I also like all the switches with hue.... Though I wish they fit a standard double/tripple gang designer plate. I hate having to take a dremel to Lutron plates at $16+ to get a fit.

    Hi Justin,
£130 here in the UK for a piddling little Hue 2 metre gradient strip with just 3 zones and then another £50+ for each extra metre. This compared to around £30 / £40 for the Govee 5 metre RGBIC strip with multiple zones, Wifi, bluetooth connectivity, a fantastic app and Alexa and Google home functionality. I think given the huge price different and, if you're going to go all Govee in one room for instance, you can quite easily forgo Zigbee. It also explains why Govee are making huge inroads into this market. If you're not worried about wifi, alexa, the' bluetooth only' equivalent models are cheaper and have all the colour functionality.
Philips seem to behaving as if they are the only player in the market still. Perhaps in a Black Friday sale but not at that price. It probably is a nice well made bit of kit but the price!!

I bought a govee light strip and TOTALLY regret it. It has lost its stickiness and is coming off, and doesn't work with alexa anymore - and I'm not the only one with these problems. Although philips is premium price I have never experienced problems with it like i have with cheap govee

I'm glad I watched your video. Although I think it's way too expensive, I was thinking of buying one for an area at my home that would be awesome... until you mentioned there are only three zones. Based on pictures I was under the impression there were at least five or so, which would have been great. But three is a no go for me. And due to what you said, it's not adopting to the length? I have a professional lighting company for over twenty years. I did an install in 2005 with a 15 meter led curtain wall (15 meters of white curtains, which changed colour due to leds underneath). That whole wall adopted automatically to the length... per led. That's 16 years ago! Haha. During construction they decides to add 2 extra meters of moulding and curtains, so we added 2 meters of leds, hit calibrate and all the effects were adopting to that new length within seconds. I think sometimes it's amazing how fast technology changes, but sometimes it's also amazing how little great solutions get adapted. The controller we used back then was not even 80 euro and did it's job in a huge discotheque for many years and could even be completely programmed in the large light show by dmx. Kind of weird that a gradient light strip from 180 euro nowadays still only has three zones.

I'm sorry but only 3 zones.... wow
    Phillips Hue Gradient = 80 inches, 3 zones, $180
Govee RGBIC light strip = 384 inches, 15 zones, $55

I know its possible with the wallplug but I cant use that on my bathroom mirror that uses a tube light and I cant seem to find a solution. No smart tube lights exists as far as I know and the Hue Wall Switch Module is not intended for that purpose. Are there any Zigbee wall modules that can turn on and off the power through Philips hue App?

Are you happy with the Govee strips? I've bought 3 so far and have been disappointed. I bought the TV ones with the camera and they are not very bright, I got a 16ft and dual 16 (they call it a 32ft ) and was also disappointed with the brightness.

I have the Govee outdoor string deck lights, and they are fantastic. Super cool and super colorful. They are very nice I like the option of having outdoor lights.
I also have the Govee TV immersion strip lights with the camera. I’ve had lots of trouble calibrating the camera, so I don’t think that it’s a better solution compared to the YouTV system. But I am hoping that I can get some technical support to get it to work properly. The brightness is rather decent it’s just it’s not working the way you expected to. But just having it work as a colorful gradient light strip, it’s pretty decent.
I also have the Govee stand lights, I’m not sure what their names are, I like them but I find them less impressive compared to the deck lights and the light strip. I also purchased the Govee rope lights, it’s rather cool. And very bright
But the biggest drawback to the Govee system is that you can’t sync any of them together. Unlike you where you can group them all together, that is one of the biggest benefits to whew. It makes me rethink having purchased all these Govee products unless they plan to release some sort of integration where you can get them all to be grouped and synced together.
So right now, unless they release some methods to sync all your lights together, I think you is a better option, more costly yes, but a better option.

@@NB-Philly setting up the TV is kinda messy. I stopped using the blocks. The camera is a fish eye so that kinda creates some problems. I go into the app and when it shows you the TV I adjust the 5 points into a house shape to cover the most screen area. Since the bottom is flat and the two sides are up and down, move the two points so that you can get a roof shape to cover the most screen. That seems to have fixed some of my problems. Unfortunately, I have a window 2 feet away from that TV, so I get poor a poor effect as the camera sees a little bit of light hitting the screen.

@@NB-Philly I wonder, if you put the camera below the TV and perhaps a foot in front of it, that way the camera would get more of a full frontal view of the screen? It might eliminate some of the fisheye lens issues. I will have to try resting the camera on the TV cabinets edge and see if it makes it better.
