awesome video! Although a more fancy setting in terms of background and lighting might increase the number of followers, I absolutley love the way you do your videos: basic knowledge simply brought to the point, no unnecessary intro or effects. Handsome with a calm voice. Definitely not the last video to watch on this channel.
Philips Hue White and White Ambiance are both smart light bulbs that produce white light. The difference is that while Philips Hue White is set at a single warm white color temperature, Philips Hue White Ambiance bulbs offer 50,000 shades of natural white light. Thank you for the video
Thank you, sir! That was super useful and I appreciated that you didn't have an opening and all the other nonsense. Thanks for getting straight to the point.
I haven't noticed any massive difference. The White Ambiance can be slightly less bright... but at 1% brightness I still find it a bit too bright too, yes 😔
Not sure if you're still active but does the RGB Hue lights let you change to the ambience color temps as well? I noticed on the top right corner there's 2 options, rgb and seems like ambience? I'd have to assume yes, but would like a confirmation to be sure
Super helpful. I was confused when Philips changed the shape of the "White" bulbs from rounded to flatter like the original "White Ambience" and "White & Color." So confusing, Philips, but thank you Smart Home Point!
The automations I have setup in my Hue app work fine, even when the internet is off. So the ones for Hue Lily should work fine too. But anything setup in the Alexa app (i.e. routines that control Hue lights) won't work without the internet.
@@SmartHomePoint ok thanks, I've got the bridge connected to TL-WA850RE N300 setup as access point. Can see the bridge, lily lights and turn them on/off via the app. But setup automation to turn on at 22:00 and off at 22:30 but doesn't work.
Hmm sorry to hear that, I'm not too sure why that's the case unfortunately. I'll keep an eye/ear out on my own setup and see if I notice similar anytime.
Only thing I missed in this video is that I would like you to demonstrate the different type of bulbs. I want to see the difference before I buy. Specially with the white and white ambiance
This is really great video and very informative! So if I understand correctly, if I need to work in winter and the window faces northeast, the white ambience bulb would actually work better as it similates the normal daylight during the day, but at the same time, the white ambience bulb can also simulate cozy sunset lighting or in the evening to create dimmed cozy light, right? Thank you so much!
No problem, glad to hear you found it useful 🙂 Yes you're quite tight, the white ambiance bulb would work fine for what you say. My study is north facing and I do the same (blue daylight in the day, then warm white for nights) - it works well 👍
a very imp point missed here.. normal bulbs have higher Lumen output. ambience have less. that means you will need more bulbs to light up the room properly
Ironically, if you like your whites to be fresh and clean, like in the 3200 - 4000 kelvin range, a Hue Color Ambiance bulb does a better job. It creates a better looking and fresher white than the White Ambiance bulb does. You can add the tiniest bit of red to the mix which makes the white cleaner and 'warmer', yet neutral and fresh, especially at night. It balances out the subtle greenish/yellowish shade that the White Ambiance version has.
Ahh great point, thanks 🙂 I use my White Ambiance bulbs quite a lot and have been generally happy with them, but I'll definitely try comparing their warm whites to the Colour Ambiance bulbs. Nice tip 🙂
Personally I prefer the colour bulbs as you can change to your mood but as with all the bulbs there is so much choice on connection and choice of hub no hub WiFi Bluetooth and choice of colour no colour choice over no colour choice of you have the colour over the white colour choice choice. But anyway I forgot what I was talking about so I hope your choice is the best choice for your choice. My head hurts great video 😅
oh my god, finally a philips hue video without annoying flashy graphics or music - just pure useful information, thank you sir!
Haha thanks 🤣 Yes many smart lighting videos seem 'flashy' but lacking too much useful info.
I agree! :) Wanted to know just this exact information, thank you
I really missed videos like this in TH-cam, straight into the point and very informative. Thank you.
Thanks, that's appreciated 🙂 Glad you found the video helpful 👍
This video is AMAZING. Someone who finally explains the difference between all of them clearly. Also like the way you film your videos. Respect!
Thank your 🙂 That's appreciated. Glad you found the video helpful 👍
5 minutes of video and now i finally know what i'm buying. Thank you sir.
No problem, glad I could help :)

Really great video explaining the different similarly-named options to make an informed decision on what I should buy next - many thanks!

does the white ambience go to a warmer kelvin value than the white
Thank you, sir! That was super useful and I appreciated that you didn't have an opening and all the other nonsense. Thanks for getting straight to the point.

You get my comment and like for having a video that's actually informative and to the point.
Thanks for that, it's appreciated - glad the video helped 🙂
Great understandable info with subtitles for non native English speakers
Thanks! Yes I always add subtitles for both non-native English speakers, plus people who are hard of hearing 🙂
You had me at "atmospheric scattering effects".
Thanks for a great explanation
LOL! Thanks, glad it helped you out 🙂
@@SmartHomePoint It most definitely did. Thanks mate.
Does the white ambience go dimmer than the white? I find the nightlight on the white is still to bright on 0%

You save us!! Thank you so much! You explained it so well and clear, Great video. We are now sure of which light bulb we need.

That's true, I should have added this. I appreciate the feedback/suggestion 🙂

Yes that's a good point, thanks for that. 🙂 It bugs me that the lumen output is often lower for white ambiance and RGB bulbs.
Thanks for the video. Very well explained and helped me with my decision (White Ambiance)
Glad you liked the video, and nice choice - the white ambiance range is my favourite too 🙂
Exactly what I needed - thank you.
Glad it helped you out 🙂
Great video and straight to the point. Thank you.
Thank you for this! You explained very well.
All dimmable or just the white one?
Good question - they're all dimmable 🙂
Nice video man thanks excactly what i needed, needed to buy 8 and check rn which one im goung to buy
