I just bought a Matchless G80S with this same electric starter installed. It has the same battery as in your video. When I try to start it the starter spins the motor fast with the compression release but once you release the compression release the motor stops turning over. In this video it appears yours starts with the compression release on. Is that right? Will it start with the compression release in operation?
Hello. Sorry for the delay in responding. I just got back from a trip to California. To start my bike I pull the compression release in, push the starter button to get the flywheel spinning(just about a second or two), drop the compression release while still holding the starter button, and the motor keeps spinning and fires up. You might have better compression than I have. I can't think of how the compression could be so great as to stop the momentum of the flywheel spinning. Let me know how it goes. I'd be glad to brainstorm and offer any help until you can get it going correctly and running well. Michael
